  • hy!

what song are u playing? it sounds familiar somehow.

  • i had one of these guitars, regret selling it. hold on to it, it's worth more than the book value ...

  • These guitars sound so good. but they are incredibly heavy for their' size. i love mine. :)

  • Great tone man....are you working as a cable guy, I see that you have an empty box of Arris modem.

  • Great tone.

  • Love the Sound man, i have to get one

  • awesome

  • That's some awesome tone...

  • Very good guitars, I have one and will never need another guitar again.

  • I could listen to that all day ... I love yhe South.

I have a Sonex in pieces as well. I traded a cheap Epiphone bass for it. I checked with Gibson a 4-5 years back and they said they would refinish the guitar for 500-600 dollars. Don't know what it would cost to do now.

  • I have a black 83 sonex-180 custom all original with the coil tap switch in good shape.would you happen to know what it is worth?

  • Not really.. They have more value to the player than anything..as they have unusually high sustain. They were developed with that in mind.

It is hard to find an ax that actually sustains as well.

I have seen them lately, as you describe for from 800 to 2000

  • i dont know what year is my sonex

  • First number of the serial and 5th number.

    So if it's 85487544

    it would be a 1987.

  • thanx bro XD

  • Not true duede its the first two digits

  • No dude it's the first and the fifth.

    YDDDYPPP

YY is the production year 1 and 5 number

DDD is the day of the year 2-4 numbers

PPP is the plant designation and/or instrument rank 6-8 numbers

  • no kidding! my number 83540538. I always thought it was a 83. still a lil confused day of the year?

  • It was made on the 354th day of 1980.

  • 1981 XD

  • Very nice! 5 Stars!

    God Bless Our Dixieland!

    Deo Vindice

  • hi, nice guitar, please tell me what´s the pickups in your Sonex, thanks

  • Awesome guitars! Nice work Bro!

  • Thanks !!

  • Killer sound ;o)

  • is the neck composite as well? it sounds killer.

  • No..oddly enough it is a bolt on mahogany.

It is one of the strangest Gibson products I have seen.

  • i thought they had maple necks

  • Sheesh.. maybe it does..let me look.. YOU ARE RIGHT !! The Sonex Deluxe (mine) has a coil tap switch, a three piece maple neck, and an ebony fingerboard.

    muscletruckdude wins !!!

  • i love your guitar. i have a 1983 or 84 sonex 180 deluxe in the silverburst finish but it doesnt work

  • whats the serial number on the head stock i could tell you the exact year if you don't know already

  • 82662540

  • its a 1982

  • you take the 1st number and then the 5th number and put it together and thats your year make

  • Ok.. I have this 'flyer' that friend found on the internet, but I cannot find the source..but it is from Gibson. The 180 Deluxe has a 'select hardwood' neck with Rosewood board, as does the 180 Standard. The Custom has the three piece maple with ebony. The Sonex Artist has 'fixed heel' neck, three piece laminate maple neck with Rosewood fingerboard.

  • is this played on the randall ?

  • No.. I am playing through the old 5 dollar garage sale amp. Last night, I played through a

wonderful Princeton..what a sweet little amp.

  • awesome! what guitar is it?

  • It is a Gibson SOnex.. from the 80's. It has a special Composite body that gives it unreal sustain.

  • Great sound and great song choice! 5*
