Besides her obvious intelligence, I really love her face. Yeah, people say her nose is ugly, hooked or whatever, but I personally adore it, it's like kind of a classic feature from her Sri Lankan/Hindu ethnicity :) As beautiful as a lot of women of colour in the industry are, many end up having more "Western" features and are called beautiful b/c of that. I guess she just went the right way to be forgotten. But in the end she was always being how she really is and at 35 is hard to change your purposes in life. I think the difference between M.I.A. and these other pop "artists" out today is her experience. She's more grounded in her work, in her music, because she's been through REAL SHIT. You can't compare her to pop singers like Gaga, because their experiences are totally different, therefore, so is the music.
