  • :( This doesn't work with Blender 2.5 - Should have expected it though.

  • @Wireheadking search it on blendswap, someone made a 2.5 compatible one :)

  • does anyone have a mileena template LOL

  • Nathan shows you how to move your bunny.

    :)

keep up the great work :)

  • I love maya.. 1 because the animation is so much faster then in Blender second the view in Blender is not straight it is as if I watch from a tower trying to line my object right.. with the grid.. 3. it's very slow 4 it will never get me to hollywood 5 I can keep going n forever.. nice animation though .

  • @dreamerboy1231 well, im going to have to admit that Blender isnt the best for animation. BUT it is so much faster than Maya when it comes to modelling because of it's super work flow, everything is hotkey based that your mouse basically never leaves the viewport. im learning Maya as well but i learned Blender first.

in blender you can switch back and forth between perspective and orthographic view and right/front/top view in one view port (you can make as many view ports as you like).

  • awesome rig

  • Yes i do notice it!!! hahahahahahahaahah

  • Great job!!!

    10/10!

    watch. . youtube.com/watch?v=H2BUYtVhC98

    - - - RENDERING IMAGINATION - - -

  • and the armature comes with it!!!!!!

  • guy that is the big buck bunny created by the blender foundation!!! everyone can download that free!!!!

  • Great facial rigging, you got very expressive gestures even just in the demo! I also love the short, nice job! Kudos!

  • It is just scary how good setup artists are getting. You guys are the heroes to the animators!

  • man, that´s awesome

  • This looks 50 times better than what i see on any of the rigging tutorials... how do you get it to maintain mass and move smoothly?

I tried setting an armature with smooth weight painting and it still will sheer off when I adjust it.

    Gah!

  • That's 3Ds max, right?

  • @goranification

    Nope, blender :)

  • Thanks for this. I'm going to show this to my high school game dev. class.

  • Does nathan have tutorials on rigging?

  • awesome whichi software???

    can u through a tut?

  • @pakistanzindabada Read labels: Blender3D opensource software

Very nice way to animate a character.

  • Nicely done.

  • Awesome man....

i also want to learn this kind of facial rig...

help me how i learn this...

  • Thx so much for the tut! Would like very much to know how one goes about setting up such a complex rig. Prob you've done a tut on that, and I just need to find it, but figured I'd pose (haha) the ? in hopes a response might point others to it more quickly, or perhaps to inspire you to create one if you haven't. Thx again! :~)

  • i like it !

    please go on !

    5000/5*

  • GIVE A TUTORIAL ON HOW TO MAKE THE BUNNY

  • very good

  • Has anyone else noticed the similarity between Nathan and the Rabbit?

  • yep xD

  • @3yE LOL you're right xD without that much hair and bigger ears^^

  • COOL

  • This is made in blender and it doesn't look the same because the view is all the way open... Common people do some google.

  • @LoopStan sorry but how do u know this is made in blender ? I have made also that model and it is in maya so'?? what are u talking about ? blender is just a program its not that this model is for blender or something

  • @dreamerboy1231 First when it zooms out you see the blender UI. Not to mention this movie was made in Blender. Models that are in 3D can be converted to other formats by the way. If you use blender long enough, you learn what the blender rigging system looks like, and thats it right there.

  • where can I learn how to make the eyelids follow the contour of the eyeball?

  • Probably in the mandcandy DVD but if you do wanna do that then try to insert some contraints in there so it sort of rotates around it

  • what program is this?

  • blender

  • i use blender and it looks nothing like it

  • Shift + space ;)

  • you do not know how to use

  • Man, you're awesome!

  • where can i downlaod this

  • um i have big buck bunny (model)

um the rigs are different THEM RIGS ROCK!!!!!

  • What program is this?:|

  • Blender ;)

  • i think i know you... you are this guy who makes that FPS tutorials, right?

  • the mouth is freakin awesome

  • hey, where can i learn how to rig like this in maya?

  • Oooooo... I wanna know how to keep the eyelids stuck onto the eye without having to worry about manual movements all the time. Anyone know how, I'm sure it's constraints, but detail please :D. Thx in advance!!! Message me or reply to this! Woot, animation! lol

  • How do you create a "volume preservation" rig in Blender?

  • and as far as the shaped controllers, they are just simple meshes in various shapes set as the controller of the driver bones

  • Nathan is the best, and a beast... of Blender.

  • ear movement?

  • I would love to see some videos on how to add the controlers to the rig. Anyone know any?

  • as far as I know, you can add bones as controllers to affect the model itself as with the tongue and secondary controllers, and you can have them affect shape keys with ipo drivers etc.

I haven't put it into practice, and I don't know how you get those specific drawn shapes for each controller, though :(

it looks like he's also got some kinds of constraints on things like the eyelids and like he said, there is some volume preservation around the stomach

I hope this little bit helps you some! :D

  • @ wiki(dot)blender(dot)org the document under Manual/Animation/Advanced/Driven_Shape_Keys/Example

that is a good example of how to do driven shape keys

  • that is sooo cool nice face rig I have only just began blender but this gives me a goal to achieve thanx and nice vid

  • poor bunny his movements are COMPLETELY in your hands....you're his god...that's what i like in animators.........i m trying to be one

  • Thank you but this isn't really a tutorial more like showing what it took to rig this fat wabbit

  • tut pl0x

  • eyeball stick to the surface? how can that be done?

  • you creata an armature that sticks the eye to the face so the eye move when the face or body moves

  • WOW! So I didn't learn anything from that, but I that was a very cool video! I always like blender but had no idea it was such an impressive program!

  • pt a tutorial

  • if u wanna learn rigging from scratch...lol this isnt really the Vid...im jus looking at this for fun this guy is a God in Blender

  • I'm not really too sure how to create a rig like you have in this video... i mean i have only ever (and can only) rig using 'bones' like lines and stuff... how do you create the bones so they're warped to follow the shape of the character and stuff, or the 'knee benders' used in this video...

can any one give me some pointers please?

  • you can watch the tutorials made by

    tp8000cfv

just search tp8000cfv on youtube and watch his rigging tutorials

  • yow.!! how'd you learn rigging?

  • If someone could point me to rigging tutorials on the things he showed it would be great.

  • i just dont get rigging im trying so hard Need help

    PLz

  • how do u do tht thing he does in the beginning?

the knee control and the feet roll or whatever...

i cant find a tut on tht and i donno the name!

    Pls help

  • Nathan is the coolest

  • no way

  • the one i have doesnt have all those contols the belly and eyebrows i dont have specific ones

  • They are just hidden, but they are there

  • very well done

  • amazing rig thx for showing it.

  • What program is that?

  • Blender.

  • the normal blender? sry i can´t very good english XD in german:"Welches Programm von Blender?"

  • How do you make those rigging shapes that help move the mesh? Is that a plugin cuz I can't find it in Blender.

  • Very Nice. It is leaps forward for all of us Blenderheads. Thanks Nathan.

  • how do you guys did that with the eye target?

  • 4.28 lool

  • Gooooodd!

  • really cool rig

  • Hey Nathan that looks like such a sweet rig. Are the Big Buck Bunny files going to be available to download and to play with. Because I would love to see how you rigged some of this stuff.

  • Jesus, save me! I'm trying to quit on 3D, for God's sake, Nathan!

  • Damn it, I want to see the movie (too bad it's coming out after my 2 weeks of vacation)

I wish I had the skills to model like that, hopefully I will someday..

  • i wish i could do that could u teach me??

  • brilliant!

  • he uses blender, now the most required to know are:

    Maya

    3Ds Max

    Softimage XSI

    from what I have heard

  • nathan is so cool, he is just great

  • yep, google "Peach Project"

  • i was impressed as is... when i found out this was Blender, my jaw hit the floor.

hmm... $4000 for MAX... $0 for Blender... not a hard equation imo. (though having to relearn another software package does kinda dampen some of that enthusiasm.)

  • Woah. A tutorial on this would just be beyond fantastic. Maybe after the Peach release? Can't wait to see it!

  • i would put most hope IN the peach release, remember they said they would have some tutorials on their dvd? well some people will soon know, the movie is kinda done (few problems at last night, its all in their blog), too bad i didnt had the money to buy a copy of the movie, i guess i will be able to download it free, since it uses cc licence, but the hd trailer of 29 MB for 31 seconds kinda made me fear that my download limit wont make it (in belgium it standar is only 12 gigs a month)

  • Woah! Very Nice, still learning the basics over here..

  • Brilliant an insightful video on rigging

  • AWESOME! Looks like you covered virtually everything needed for manipulating this character around. Great job!

  • Great rig! Blender has come a long way.

  • AwEsOmE!!! u rig so awesomelly!!!!

  • kewl work :)

  • That's what I call a hardXcore rig.

Hey, for the secondary mouth controls, did you make those bones shape key drivers, or did you actually parent verticies to them?

  • Another possibility is that the bones are the parents of empties that act as hooks on a lattice.

  • Or a meshDeform object.

  • Continuez ainsi ;) !!

  • Very Kewl!
