No I don't think that...plenty of bass players manage to sing and play at the same time..Paul McCartney for instance..it's called having talent..so hughes wouldn't know about that.

DC is 60 in September so obviously his voice isn't going to be perfect,...whereas hughes has just sreamed his balls off ever since he joined..and helped to ruin..Deep Purple.

@QueenReigns1 i missed ur reply about bolin and sellout coverdale part. not really sure about their drug habits thing. did blackmore say that? he blamed them for that? hmm i don't really know if that was the reason. a decent album? all of them.. i don't have all of his albums, but i really liked hughes turner project. i don't know if the tour was soldout or not, but he's out there still rocking and playing real music while coverdale's making his guitar and bass players sing more than he does.

You really should do some reading up on Purple History as you sem to know zilch..Blackmore didn't blame hughes and bolin for breaking Purple up with drug habits,, that was well documented..although apparently not werll enough in your case.

Blackmore's problem was the direction the music was heading into..R&B funk..hughes singing like Stevie Wonder.

Stormbringer has some great moments but it also has too much funk...listen to Hold On...Blackmore hated it so much he played the solo with his thumb.

Songs Mccartney has written that are better than hughes' efforts...99% of them

McCartney has composed some brilliant songs over the years..also some pretty dire ones..like The Frog Chorus/Spies Like Us.

Coverdale also has composed some classic songs, but his worst efforts are not as bad as Macca's.

Given Macca's ability to play a number of different instruments...not saying he's a virtuoso on them all...I would rate him more talented than DC composing wise and songwriting.

DC's voice...is and always will be superior, so i'd choose Macca as more talented..just

I used McCartney as an example...in his prime he was a decent singer, and he's always been a better player and had much more talent than hughes.....but I could have said Phil Lynnott, what I'm saying is there are quite a few who managed to play bass and sing
