  • Lol 4:14 hang on to your wood :D

  • thank you so frikin much for doing these reviews. I was actually deciding whether to get the Bear or the LMF2. this will help me decide

  • @ShadeSlayer1911 awesome man. I'm glad it finally helped someone. lol

  • 4:13 oh i never let go of my wood... if you catch my driftitsapenisjoke...

  • It left my hand sore but the it never felt like falling apart would be an issue, I also found the same problem with survival guide fitting into the pouch all in all I paid 50 bucks at wal mart for this and couldn't be more pleased, even if it is a stainless steel blade

  • You can really argue knives all day long if you like I prefer hand made damascas myself but at 50 to 200 an inch (pending in quality and the smith) I don't buy them too often, the idea of batoning is a survival technique not a kinky fetish I'm sure if any one had preference they would use a log splitter, a far as taking a hatchet well survival situations are pre-planned they just happen, and ive used my gb on tent stakes in the hard missouri ground cuz I forgot my mallet, out left my hand sore..

  • i have a 12 dollar underwater knife i bought at a pawn shop that can do the same things it just doesnt have a dark finish

  • @bobbyeph lol good. I hope that $12 knife holds an edge and last you a long time. I have several knives that will do the same thing and don't cost as much. i've said it many times. This is just comparing these 2 knives. I'm not trying to say they are better than any other knife out there. People often compare the two knives b/c they are made by the same company, so I made these videos.

  • @weaponsandgear you know you can remove the plastic sheath from the carrying part on the LMF 2. it makes it much easier for hammering with.

  • The B G is based on the LMF2

One is made in the US the(LMF2) the other(BG) in Taiwan

I don't think the Pommel on the LMF would be used for hammering its more do used as a glass beaker (i.e.) windows

Where as the B.G knife's pommel is made to hammer in tent stakes

  • Splitting wood by batoning the block of wood with a knife. What a kinky fetish.

  • Is batoning with a knife some kind of fetish? Why would anyone buy a knife for $50.0 or $100.0 or whatever the amount and have the knife banged up and scratched up using it to baton wood? Bring a small axe or hatchet to do that people!

  • @chinarocks2 ya who in the hell would let anything mess up the perfect look of a knife! I heard people buy $1,000 guns and SHOOT THEM!!! Seriously though, carrying a survival knife in a survival situation (which is when you would need to baton wood) is a lot easier that carrying a axe or hatched. It can do everything you would need a small axe or hatched to do in a survival situation.

  • @chinarocks2 It's about time somebody said this.

A cheap Hard plastic handal hachet will cost you $8.00.

I think its a good test of the knifes blade, show what it can take. These reviews help

you have a feeling of trust with your knife, not that most would beat them up like this.

  • civilian kbars suck if you can get a used kbar at a military surplus store then those are the good ones

  • Comment removed

  • the reason the bear grylls knife gets even more scratched is because its got a smaller blade

  • I don't know about you guys, but personally i'm going kabar all the way.

  • @Ben762x51 i agree ka bars are very high quality :)

  • @Ben762x51 The biggest problem with KABARs is they're not a widely available in the stores, you usually have to order them. But once you get one, and for the price.. boom baby ! I LOVE my KABAR. I've heard from other people that Gerger Prodigy is an excellent knife but i'd put my KABAR up against any of them.

  • Hey, idk if you know this or not, but the actuel rubber coated plastic part of the sheath of the LMF II comes off of the fabric part of the sheath you have to hold back to use it to hammer. Maybe just using the plastic part of the sheath on the knife when you hammer?

  • Lately Im been into folding knifes and over here in Norway there are not really many good ones.. The swiss ones are "popular" but I think they are to fragile, broken to many of them, so I'm seriously considering to order one of ebay, the CRKT M21 04 with the G10 Scales, seems that nobody really has anything negative to say other than that the steel should have been a better grade, all though everybody thinks it holds up quite well and I buy into that seeing the tests they have done on it :)

  • Hehe yeah that was a pain in the but indeed. My self went to the woods today for a nice sunday trip, it was pouring down but that fire steel and some birch tinder never lets me down. Anyways I brought my Helle GT and did some batoning with it. For such a glamourous looking norwegian knife it really held up, perfect condition when I left today and when I got home still in perfect shape, I just love that lamination they have done on it. I would certainly recommend it, it's not a hammer though :p

  • u can tell he is a ginger kid

  • @jarrod1685 who? me?

  • @jarrod1685 you can tell you didnt watch the whole video

  • @NvSSollz ya I have brown hair. I guess bc I have freckles, that makes me a ginger kid? Last time I checked, 30 year old men weren't considered kids and "gingers" are people with red hair

  • @weaponsandgear They're called 'Ranga's', here. Or sauce bottles. ;o)

  • just bought the bear grylls about an hour ago at walmart, for 53 bucks, and now watchng vdeos, no body lkes it, idk if i should return it, or what, anyone message me, thanks

  • @RAWDOGVideos its a good knife. It just got a bad rep b/c there were problems with the first batch that was released. I have enjoyed the knife

  • @RAWDOGVideos this is a good knife and i own one myself. do not return it. the first batch had a sweet spot were the broke but gerber fixed the problem

  • "hold onto your wood" lol

  • @lkopbia always a good idea. lol

  • lmf is safer to use cuz u could poke yer eye out with the other wan

  • yeah i guess your right both knives have their down falls do you know where i can buy a case for the bk2

  • you know the lmf is growing on me i hate the BG knife is ok but im sorry kabar fucking sucks i hate their knives with a passion. im not a mean guy i do own a kabar bk2 and im sorry i hate it im not saying its a bad blade but the knife is so limited thiers no holes so i cant turn it into a spear the case sucks it has not places i can put other things like the lmf dose i can put my flint and an an pocket knife onto it i own all these knives and have put all to the test lmf wins sorry

  • @graham81ful the BK2 has performed better than the LMF2 in battoning. I have used both knifes A LOT around the camp and just around the yard. They both performed great, I just prefer the BK2. The LMF is a great knife but the handle material sucks and has almost completely chipped off after using it a lot . I had to wrap mine in paracord to keep the handle from peeling off more. I also hate the BK2 sheath. You can buy custom sheaths for it but they are expensive.

  • @graham81ful kabar makes good stuff dude

  • Good review bro, I am more of a Ka-Bar guy myself, but they didn't do as bad as I thought they might, peace!

  • @minbound Im with ya man. My fav fixed blade is my BK2

  • Interesting vid, I must admit to seeing the BG knife as little more than a marketing gimmick. I agree with your comment that the BK2 is the pick for a survival blade in this size.

  • Hey man, I have the LMF 2. when using the LMF 2 to hammer, you need to seperate the soft Nylon part of the sheath from hard part. Much easier to deal with that way. Just a little friendly advice. Great video, I love my LMF, it does a great job on wood and other processing jobs. Take care.

  • @ArmyStinger150 thanks for the tip

  • @weaponsandgear same goes for the BG knife you can separate they nylon completely from the hard case

  • @supercoolcasey he coulda done that and not worried about the knife

  • @stevie1872001 holding the knife isnt an issue. it has a good grip on it. plus its not like you will be hammering nails into wood.

  • @weaponsandgear i was referring to the fact that u were stressing the whole sheath and knife out of sheath danger factor... when u could have just unstrapped it with the sheath on

  • @weaponsandgear refering to the comment you made at 5:08

  • @stevie1872001 ya i know. im just saying that it wasnt an issue just holding the knife without the sheath

  • Very good review.I'm partial to the Ka-Bar myself.

  • @unomas58 no doubt. I would take the bk2 over these 2 in a heart beat, but i just wanted to compare 2 very similar knives made by the same company. If I did a side by side with either of these and the bk2, it would be apples and oranges. still great knives though

  • the best knife at that price point IMO is the Ka-Bar BK2. Its almost unbreakable. These are both great knives though. I might go ahead and post my final thoughts video. I'd like to wait a few days though since I have posted 5 video's in 2 days lol

  • both VERY good reviews, and i was actually wondering about the bear gryls gerber knife, i was actually checking that knife out at gander a few weeks back, $60 bucks was not sure if i would have been paying for a quality knife or just the name that is on it, shocked that the finish wore off so quickly with a one time use, but the finish will not negate how well the blade holds up or its edge, luckily i have about another month before seriously having to consider what my next camp knife will be
