I don't like handheld systems. I think the motion sensor is total BULLSHIT. I just want to sit on my ass and enjoy myself. Don't get me started on the Wii. I don't care how many good reviews those games get. They look like shit to me. It ruied Nintendo for me. Give me an SNES and an N64 over the damn Wii any day.
As for the Wii, it really has not lived up to the hype but there is still some fun to be had with it. Donkey Kong Country Returns was a great platformer and HARD as fuck. I know you don't like handhelds Rob but I bought the 3DS and I don't regret it because the online for Street Fighter 4 is fun as fuck and Zelda 3DS is on its way. Just like the DS the 3DS should have a great library of games. Plus, on June 6th Nintendo is getting the update to the eshop, online browser, and some other stuff.
i also agree with you on mega man 9. i actually found an easier way to beat it. all you have to do is keep stocking up on E tanks, extra lives, and shit.
i totally agree with you on the kinect. i think it has basically taken over, because there are some good fighting games that can only be played with kinect, like fighters uncaged.
Most of the HD remakes are bullshit .. Example the new Resident Evil code Veronica and RE 4 in HD .. the only thing they will change is the textures quality and HDR filter. I can run those games in HD on emulator like null DC with post process effects using the Dreamcast CD .. Most of the emulators now have somekind of postprocess effects or texture replacment ..
Guess Nintendo are not talking about the Wii since they're planning to reveal the next console at E3 - so I guess the wii is dead now (which is a good thing in my opinion).

Your suggestions for Mortal Kombat remind me of the Bushido Blade games on the PS1. Have you ever played those, Rob? Body parts can get injured so the characters have to fight differently. It's also quite realistic for a fighting game since one-hit kills are possible. It's WAY better than that stupid Deadliest Warrior game.
I like pokemon as much as the next person. My thing bout pokemon is that they put out to many versions. Seriously how many versions of a pokemon game do we need, and its been going on for years a butch of different versions of the same game but u need to get both versions to all ther dam pokemon WTF!!! Why cant they release a version that has all of them. I dont care if its pokemon or not thats BULLSHIT!

Sure, not all these gaems are great AAA games, but you can still find at least SOME fun on the Wii over the coming year, and were not even at E3 yet.

I still like the wii. Even though there's lots of shovel ware, it still has some of my favorite games like Brawl, Other M, Galaxy 2, DKC Returns, and my new personal favorite games, No More Heroes 2.

As of right now I still can't play the pc demo because it still has problems and Crytek isn't doing much to help and plus a lot of pc gamers who did play it felt that the game was more of a console port rather then a actual pc version . The whole HD Collection does have a few pros as well as cons though. After all, if it weren't for the Sly Collection being released I would never gotten to play that awesome trilogy. :)

IO sold the rights to EA and now a sequal is never going to come out... which sucks because there was at one time a huge online campaign by gamefaqs(I think) to bring a sequal in...
i think that games have basically turned into a cycle. say for example like you said vanquish. say millions of people did buy that game. then they would make a sequel for it. millions of people will buy that. then ANOTHER sequel is made cause the first one was so successful and so on. a couple years later what do you get? a fucking CALL OF DUTY franchise where a game is shit out every year and is flushed down the toilet. that's why no one tries new ip's anymore. its ridiculous.
totally agree with the exception of 3DS and Dragon Age, Im not a big portable gamer, its because other than portability Im not getting anything new. At least with 3DS, assuming the 3D is a good on it, Im getting that which I cant get it from my consoles without assloads of money.
In the case of Dragon Age, the 1st one did look pretty bad on consoles considering, but the PC looked very good, even on medium settings it looks much better than 360/PS3. Even If you have a modest gaming rig try it.
Rumor has it that Nintendo's Next Gen console will run on a Quad core ARM design.
Which means the console will run on hardware comparable to Sony's PSP2.
And at the same time possibly compromise backwards compatibility since the Wii hardware is based on the POWER architecture (which powers Supercomputers).
So what's the POINT?

I've been getting really tired of my friends praising the Kinect and Dance Central. Whenever I played it at Best Buy it wouldn't pick up a bunch of my moves so I'd always end up with a bad score. Not to mention that I looked like a fucking chode doing those stupid dance moves in the middle of the store.
I did buy a used sly 1 game for €5 (EU) and after an hour playing it stoped playing. Its even rare in Europe, way over 40 on ebay so give me the sly collection with 2 & 3 with trophies.
Also, I still play Pokemon. Underneath all the little cutesy characters and over-the-top storyline, there is a really deep and engrossing multiplayer that has me hooked. IDGAF what anyone says, I will put Pokemon's multiplayer up against anything.

Bioware need to focus on making more content for their BEST game ever, Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal, best RPG of all time right there, I highly suggest playing it if you haven't, it's incredible.
My favourite PS3 only magazine did a feature on all the current Move games, and only one of the games was rated 5 stars for Move applications and it was a PSN game, pretty much everything else was rated 3 stars or less. So there's one great game for you Move owners then
i just looked up wii games that are supposed to come out in 2011, only good ones in my opinion are Zelda, clay fighter, fatal frame and um yeah thats it. oh i guess a new kirby game is in development.
I've always liked Nintendo's handhelds. The DS would be the perfect handheld if it could play Gameboy-GB Color games.
HD remakes are lazy. It's like how Squeenix remakes Final Fantasy games, especially the four remakes each of FF1 & 2.
Speaking of remakes, Megaman Battle Network 1 was remade in Japan last year on DS. They (slightly) updated the music, and added Star Force Megaman to the game (the game's selling point was a crossover.) It hit the bargain bins fast. :(

Also, at the Pokemon bit, while I found it funny I'd like to say that there are stil many Pokemon fans and Pokemon still brings enough traffic for them to keep making it. If you're gonna ask why people still play Pokemon then ask why people still play ANY franchise.
You think I pay attention to EVERYTHING that comes out? Even then the only game that I can really think off the back of my head is Lost in Shadow and Mario Sports. Also ,Conduit 2 will come out in 2011, along with Zelda SS, Kirby 2011, and (hopefully) Last Story and Xenoblade, but I can assure that most the games will be anounced at E3 and will be here by last quarter 2011. And I have more than enough games on my Wii to hold me off 'till E3.
Have you ever heard of Sonic 2 HD? It's a fan-driven project to build the original genesis Sonic 2 game with improved graphics and smoother animation. Since it's made by fans, it's going to be free. I know I'm excited for it.

i think that games have basically turned into a cycle. say for example like you said vanquish. say millions of people did buy that game. then they would make a sequel for it. millions of people will buy that. then ANOTHER sequel is made cause the first one was so successful and so on. a couple years later what do you get? a fucking CALL OF DUTY franchise where a game is shit out every year and is flushed down the toilet. that's why no one tries new ip's anymore. its ridiculous.

totally agree with the exception of 3DS and Dragon Age, Im not a big portable gamer, its because other than portability Im not getting anything new. At least with 3DS, assuming the 3D is a good on it, Im getting that which I cant get it from my consoles without assloads of money.
In the case of Dragon Age, the 1st one did look pretty bad on consoles considering, but the PC looked very good, even on medium settings it looks much better than 360/PS3. Even If you have a modest gaming rig try it.

It could have been done better.
But from a business perspective I understand their move.
I cling to Nintendo because I grew up with their software franchises. (habit)
Because I grew up with it since the 80s and 90s (PSX never hit my country until PS2 and Sega was never really imported here so I only knew Nintendo.
But I also have a PS3.
I avoid Xbox 360 since 2 of my friends already had that stupid ring of death and they had to import.

Rumor has it that Nintendo's Next Gen console will run on a Quad core ARM design.
Which means the console will run on hardware comparable to Sony's PSP2.
And at the same time possibly compromise backwards compatibility since the Wii hardware is based on the POWER architecture (which powers Supercomputers).
So what's the POINT?
A Console doesn't run on Batteries.

I've been getting really tired of my friends praising the Kinect and Dance Central. Whenever I played it at Best Buy it wouldn't pick up a bunch of my moves so I'd always end up with a bad score. Not to mention that I looked like a fucking chode doing those stupid dance moves in the middle of the store.

I did buy a used sly 1 game for €5 (EU) and after an hour playing it stoped playing. Its even rare in Europe, way over 40 on ebay so give me the sly collection with 2 & 3 with trophies.

ehhh i don't really have a problem paying 40 bucks for the sly collection i mean what thats only like 13 bucks a game? that's not bad yeah they might be 5 bucks for some scratched ass used copy and some game stop or off craigs list or some bullshit, but these copies and brand new and they have the hd enhancement so like i said, i dont have a problem paying 40 dollars for these new game collections. now if it was a single remake thats one game on one disk for 40 bucks then id have a problem

Bioware need to focus on making more content for their BEST game ever, Baldur's Gate 2: Shadows of Amn/Throne of Bhaal, best RPG of all time right there, I highly suggest playing it if you haven't, it's incredible.

My favourite PS3 only magazine did a feature on all the current Move games, and only one of the games was rated 5 stars for Move applications and it was a PSN game, pretty much everything else was rated 3 stars or less. So there's one great game for you Move owners then

I've always liked Nintendo's handhelds. The DS would be the perfect handheld if it could play Gameboy-GB Color games.
HD remakes are lazy. It's like how Squeenix remakes Final Fantasy games, especially the four remakes each of FF1 & 2.
Speaking of remakes, Megaman Battle Network 1 was remade in Japan last year on DS. They (slightly) updated the music, and added Star Force Megaman to the game (the game's selling point was a crossover.) It hit the bargain bins fast. :(

these handhelds are about to go outta style unless they turn them into phones in my honest opinion. Why bother buying that extra handheld when you have a cellphone and download a quick game for a few bucks? Its one less item to carry around and it just seems more neccessary. Hell the iphone and androids got tons of games available already. Plus with the sony now putting a psp in thier phones, yea...bye bye 3ds

I agree with almost everything, except the Wii thing, Wii has tons of great games, you might be just missing out; saying Wii has no games is like saying PS3 has no games, which we all know is bullshit.
Also, at the Pokemon bit, while I found it funny I'd like to say that there are stil many Pokemon fans and Pokemon still brings enough traffic for them to keep making it. If you're gonna ask why people still play Pokemon then ask why people still play ANY franchise.

You think I pay attention to EVERYTHING that comes out? Even then the only game that I can really think off the back of my head is Lost in Shadow and Mario Sports. Also ,Conduit 2 will come out in 2011, along with Zelda SS, Kirby 2011, and (hopefully) Last Story and Xenoblade, but I can assure that most the games will be anounced at E3 and will be here by last quarter 2011. And I have more than enough games on my Wii to hold me off 'till E3.
