Most large telescopes have such minor defects, and astronomers simply aim the telescope such that these areas are away from the features being observed ( hence if you pan away from major features you'll likely observe gaps)
Such defects will only occur where high resolution images from the big telescopes where used

First of all all star map panels are inserted horizinally and vertically. these lines transverse those panels at an angle. Secondly if you look at the bottom of the lines they have an almost checkmark appearance. So what happened to the stars in the infrared when the appear in the other spectrumseverythin is normal? I would like to correct a statement you made concerning the IRIS Telescope:
There is no IRIS Telescope. The IRIS project is the reprocessing of the IRAS Mission images using different algorithms with removed much of the original scan lines and enhanced the original INFRARED Images from the 1983 IRAS Mission.
There is a SPT - South Pole Telescope.
Maybe this is what you are refering to.

if you look at a map of the known objects in the kiper belt there is a huge hole in the direction of july and aguest. its is because most of the telescopes that can see that part of the sky are closed for 2 months do to thunder storms. google sky and other programs are just a compiling of what has been seen so far.what im saying is that it just looks like they haven't scanned there yet. the sharp dark lines look like missed sweeping patterns. especially scene it is in a very clear pattern.

Lol more likely these dark patches are the gaps between the CCD's in the telescope, theres no image because the original picture was incomplete. Most large telescopes have such minor defects, and astronomers simply aim the telescope such that these areas are away from the features being observed ( hence if you pan away from major features you'll likely observe gaps)
Such defects will only occur where high resolution images from the big telescopes where used
