America passed on a great leader in 1968, I speak as a northener from Ohio. Like others said, he had to say some of those things to get elected in the south at the time but he changed but at the sametime its said Wallace never trusted the KKK and the like. Actually...my facts are correct. I do see your point, though. But, the "dixiecrat" came about because Wallace was a registered Democrat when he ran for president in '72. Even before (as governor) he was a "dixiecrat," a term which has less to do with being a democrat than it does with being a southern bureaucrat. I work in Birmingham, Alabama, at the Lurleen Wallace tumor institute. Believe me, he was in all ways: A Dixiecrat and described himself as such. Thanx for you comment though.

An amazing man-- One of my political heroes. My mother idolized him during the 60's and 70's. America would have been a much better place with him as president. Bremer should have been electrocuted. Instead he was recently released. What a country.
