I still have OS/2 3.0 on floppies, but they may not work. I have a copy of version 4.0 along with other software which I got from IBM. Both versions was tricky when it came to installing it on computers. When eCS 1.0 came out I found that it was easier to install and worked much better. If IBM had made OS/2 this good to begin with they could have overtaken Windows years ago.

Hey , you know Microsoft released a BETA of Microsoft OS/2  v.2.0

@nextstep333 released beta was Microsoft OS/2 v1.1. OS/2 v2.0 and v2.1 was made by IBM. Microsoft was working on OS/2 v3.0 (not OS/2 Warp 3.0) and later based Windows NT 3.1 on this technology!

@baso88 No they did have a version of OS/2 2.0 Beta under Microsoft's name, it was simply a name just taped over the product, Microsoft did minor changes, IBM did most of the revamp in 2.0. When the Gold version was released, Microsoft did not have version 2.0 on the shelves, I have this copy of the beta under the MICROSOFT.

Ihr nutzt im Grunde genommen alle OS/2 und wisst es gar nicht!

Windows NT basierte teilweise auf OS/2, da ja Microsoft und IBM zu Anfang zusammen OS/2 entwickelt haben. D.h. alle Nachfolge Versionen von Windows NT basieren zumindest einen Teil auf OS/2. Also sind Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista und Windows 7 indirekte Nachkommen von OS/2!

@waXsurf OS/2 ist glaub ich gerade bei der wiederaufstehung! Ich bin mir nicht 100% sicher, nur 99% (wegen den herstelern): React OS muss das neue OS/2 sein!

Ich finde es auch traurig, warum OS/2 wegen Windows 95 starb. Microsoft hat wegen Design von OS/2 geklaut und in den Ruin getrieben. Ist schon ein lange Geschichte! :(

Taskleiste von Windows und Desktop ist KEIN IDEE von Microsoft, sondern IBM - OS/2!

Dass sich OS/2 nicht durchgesetzt hat, ist einfach schade. Das hat die Menschheit um zehn Jahre zurückgeworfen.
