  • sir, just became my hero for making a video about this game! There were many great racing games on the Amiga and this one belongs in the top 3. You could do crazy stuff, attach a caravan to your car and make insane jumps! Why aren't there an option in modern racing games to attach a caravan to you car? This was insanely fun to play. I also liked Powerdrive, Street Rod 2 among many many others.

  • @cyde79 Now there's in interesting thought. Gran Turismo with caravan option :D

  • what about "offroad racer" or "indyheat" ? does anyone remember?

  • WoW!!i remember playing hours with this little racer mate!!it was absolutely fabulous!!i loved it!!thanks for posting!hope all is well with you!!cheers!

  • Looks like you have a similar racing style to me in this game on the fast mode: bouncing madly off the edges :D

Looks like there's definitely an advantage to having it on the hard drive. Swapping disks after every race was a pain, but worth it for such a fun game.

  • Did you ever play the Psygnosis game called Nitro? It was a top-down, multi-player, driving game, set in a post apocalyptic era. Each of the four drivers had a one of four avatars: Clint eastwood in western garb, Rambo, and I forget the other two.

We played it to death, back in 1991.

  • @Gregz0r1 The name rings a bell, but I don't think I ever played it.

  • @Gregz0r1 Nitro was one of my favourites back in the days. One diskette only for the Intro. Remember the great music in the select player screen. Very fun to play. This Skidmarks reminds me of a game called "Rally Cross Challenge" by ANCO. One of my first games for the AMIGA computer.

  • @Gregz0r1 Nitro, definitely another one of my favorite Amiga games! Quite different from Skidmarks but fantastic game.

  • A somewhat unfortunate title.

  • Played and loved the MEGA Drive to bits, but boy does it suffer in the frame-rate department these days. The cows were a great addition :)

  • I used to have this game for the A500+ until the day after we played it once we stuck the disk into the drive again it instantly had a virus and had to be sent back to the store.

There were no copies left so we settled for PGA Tour Golf instead.

  • These racing games always frustrated me if I got behind. Too bad it seems like there are no powerups or turbo spots on the tracks. My favorite of these games was Rock N Roll Racing on SNES.

  • Very cool looking game. Kind of like Super Sprint but with way more cars. I've never heard of this one before. Thanks for sharing.

  • I need to have a play on this, it's been ages, I like racing with the moo-cows.

  • @28steryan I couldn't find the cows or the caravans, sadly, otherwise I'd have used them :D

  • I hate when there are skidmarks around the toilet, but "Super Skidmarks" sounds horrible! lol!

  • @AfroedNinja Bottle of Domestos not included ;)

  • What a fun looking game, I love the different traction various cars have. But oddly, I didn't see a single skid mark on any of the hairpin turns? Great Review Steve.

  • This actually reminds me of the SNES version of Micro Machines. Is it by the same people? the game looks OK to me. It also reminds me of Radio Controlled Racers Deluxe for Windows.

  • This looks fantastic. I loved Iron Man Off Road, if that what it was called.

  • Sweet AGA for the 1200! :-)

  • I love it,ANY game with a Mini Cooper in it is Awesome ;0)

  • Any way to use any kind of anologue control with this? I find it impossible otherwise!

  • @BuckFastZombie I don't think so. Very few Amiga games made use of analogue sticks. You needed an adaptor just to plug one in, and very few people had them.

  • I'm actually not last. 3...2...1...oops

  • I looked at the title before I saw the pic of the video.

Thought maybe you found someones dirty underwear....lol

Game looks fun...never heard of it before...was never much into racing games when i was younger.

  • Excellent video Steve and this game looks great. : )

  • I hope you don't own a real car xD

  • @bobmarleyluke I don't. Can I borrow yours? ;)

  • @SteveBenway I could imagine the concertina I'd get back lol

  • The best game with a rude name ever made.

  • moose!

  • @Zoogle88 There is no moose :P

  • I used to absolutely love this game back in the days. Remember not being able to choose different cars for same track when you only had 1MB of RAM. Loads of fun though, even on a vanilla A500! ^_^

  • The music at 1.46 brought back some memories!!

This game was and still is superb. Played the demo for months when it got released and finally bought the game. The main menu music was great, plus you could even have a game of Pong on the main screen if i remember correctly!

    Good times

  • @spiderchoc Yup, the Pong game is still there :D

  • Controlability?

  • Is there any chance of showing the Mega Drive version in comparison at all? That's the main version I remember.

I almost bought the MD version back in the day too, if only to play as the driving cows! But your F-1 car seems to be floating in mid air, has it had a hover conversion or something from BTTF2? :D

  • @LarryBundyJr I just set up a video response to the Megadrive version. I recorded that one ages ago :D

  • @LarryBundyJr Oh, I had a budget Super Sprint knock off that codemasters made for the Amstrad as a kid, cant' for the life of me remember the name of it. But I could never get my head around the third person controls back then.

But Codeis were always tops at Super Sprint knock-offs.

  • @LarryBundyJr I can't claim to be a fan of Codemasters.

**Shudders at the mere thought of Dizzy**

  • @SteveBenway Dear god, A British person who dislikes Dizzy? What is the World coming to???

  • @LarryBundyJr SENSE! ;)

  • One of my favorite Amiga games! Very playable, great fun to play (even now - or should I say, especially now) ... if memory serves this was written in Blitz Basic, at least the Amiga version was. I didn't even know there was a MegaDrive version.

  • @nukinetix Not just written in Blitz Basic, but by the people who produced Blitz Basic, if I'm not mistaken.

I have a video up of the Megadrive version. Gonna go find it and run a link to it from the info bar... or video response, or something :)

  • reminds me of that dismal Gizmondo Motocross 2005 game.

    great vid!

  • memories ......

  • Oh my, absolutely fantastic game that STILL holds up well for playability to this day. Never knew there was a MD version though...

Loving the Amiga stuff, nice work Steve :)

  • Steve, you inspired me to just go & play this, but for some reason, I can only ever get 4 cars on the track. What chipset & memory would you advise to use to get this running at its best?

  • @a3HeadedMonkey It may be that you have one of the earlier versions. I could be wrong, but I believe there are 3. Skidmarks, Super Skidmarks, and Super Skidmarks AGA. What the limitations or extra features of the different versions are, I don't know.

  • Nailed it! Been playing the crap out of Skidmarks & Super Skidmarks AGA on Winuae with various settings. Both games run okay on my 2MB ECS, but Super Skidmarks AGA only has four cars so is best played on a 1200.

    What I have found:

SSM AGA is not very good for single player. If you want to do a champ, it's too hard & you can't change it! But is massive fun in 2 player with AI off.

Skidmarks not so good 2 player. Can't turn off AI. But can change difficulty in 1 player so chamship is much better

  • @a3HeadedMonkey It was the standard version you had then as AGA versions do not have compatibility for the older machines except those games with packs that you can play one of 2 editions on like Alian Breed.

  • @wrestletube1 No you're wrong. There was no AGA only version of Super Skidmarks apart from the CD32 version. The home computer ver was for all Amigas & came with extra disks for AGA cars & also has 7 cars on screen when played in AGA instead of four. It also displays in a higher resolution when played in AGA as opposed to ECS or OCS.

    hol(DOTabime(DOT)net/2205

  • @a3HeadedMonkey It's a double version edition then like Alein Breed.

The only one to buy is the AGA for all AMIGA'S then if you get the normal version you are conned if you want to upgrade to an A1200 as you get less goodies.

But still you are backing up what I was saying to begin with that they are just the same version with more disks.

  • @SteveBenway There are only 2 games but an AGA chip set made version of Super.

  • I think I have the 1200 version of this? Reminds me of ATR racing (I think on the 1200) with how the Main sprites are so smoothly animated.

  • @atombat Supercars, Nitro and Micro Machines too.

  • Love this game! It's so hard though. :( Best played in two player imo.

  • why do you play games if you play them so badly? lol

  • @bruceleeC64 I've answered that question so many times now, I'm not even going there.

  • Heh, 'skidmarks'.

  • @RPKGameVids You beat me to it !! ;-)

  • Now your talking, this is one of my most played videogames.! I always just wanted to give it just one more go. Playing with friends was really fun though I had one friend that just never seemed to get the idea behind the steering because of that perspective lol!
