  • is there any particular reason you mill and remelt?? Im new at this, so I was wondering. Also, can you do that with soap that is already cured and scented?? Thanks, I love your vids!

  • Desaundrea,

    What is the baggie method?

    Lisa

  • I sent you a message :o)

  • The soap looks wonderful. The specks look fine in my opinion. I love all of your videos! You explain everything perfectly.

  • Thank you! :o) Maybe not explained perfectly lol but I do try to be thorough. :o)

  • Hi sweetie... Do you let your CP soap cure completely before you can rebatch? I made a batch last week and want to rebatch but I have never rebatched a "uncured" bar. They are pretty hard bars... olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter and super fatted with castor oil. Just curious if you ever have?? I am going to try HP soon.... I am just scared of a volcano crockpot. :)

    Kimmy

  • Hey Kimmy :o), I have rebatched (handmilled) CP and it does NOT have to cure completely to be rebatched. Depending on the way you are going to heat the soap, like melted by pot method or done in the baggie, it may not need curing after you are done. It will just sit and dry. do a zap test after your rebatch is complete and see if it is cured, thats what I do :o) do the oven way instead of the crockpot, no volcano effect :o)

  • Thanks so much for your help. I do the baggie method always but it has always been with cured soap. I will have to go invest in a stock pot like you have... all I have is my stainles steel pots. :)

  • Stainless steel works great as well, just as long as you have one that is 12 quarts. Aluminum will break down because of the lye water. Drea

  • Mm mm mm, loving ur soap vids! this looks creamy and smmmooooothe, bet is smells gorg too

  • Thank you Miss Wildflower :-) Have you thought of doing oven process yet? I am hooked on it cause it is so easy lol And quick too lol :-)

  • My dearie, you know the life of a mixtress, we have to give everything a go at least once!!!! :0)

  • This is SO true lol I started this soap thing as a hobby, something for me to send to family and friends and now people want me to sell them my bars lol

  • You are doing awesome and your videos are great. I just love natural scents as it really does wonders for the soul and spirit!.. When u use them, have you notice if the scent stays on the whole day? Just curious. thanks!

  • Unless I dump 2 bottles of lemon EO into the soap, no the mlemon scent does not stayt on all day, and really where soap is concerned you really DON'T want the scent to stick to you. If it does stay all day then it is bad for the skin and drying.

  • The soaps look like the smell good, which doesn't really make too much sense, but I expect you know exactly what I mean. LOL at your "dude, I can do that."

  • You are right, my husband looked at them before he actually got to them and said " Those look like they smell good..." and walked away before I could pick up on the fact he liked the soaps lol

  • I love to make soap. Your soap look good. Keep up the good work!!!!

  • I sure will I just made some coffee soap for my son's smelly feet lol I did it pot method (ran out of baggies) and so far they are not shrinking.

  • Your soap looks so soft and conditioning... I know that sounds weird. It looks good! keep up the good work girl!

  • No you are right if the soap looks soft then it is more likely to be soft and conditioning :-)

  • I never get tired of hearing you talk about soap.. In fact I took the plunge and bought me a soapmakers book beacause of your videos. Thank you for posting because if it were not for your videos I'd still be on the fence about making soap

  • the bees are too cute !

  • I know right? I am going to do more of them :-)

  • OMG...Those soaps are gorgeous...lol...I could almost smell the lemon. You are doing a great job. None of mine are ever that pretty...lol...Keep it up. Have a great week.

  • They do have the dining room smelling like lemons lol even lovey likes them, funny he likes my soaps better than my hair products lol They were a pale yellow as soon as I took them out of the molds, now they are darkening to a lemon yellow and that is exactly what the book said they would do :-)

  • Your soap ball is so nice and smooth!

I need to do more handmilling. I almost always do CP, but handmilled is so much easier to work with. Maybe tomorrow I'll make some!

  • I am LOVING handmilling :-) The fact that the soap is completely cured because I did oven process on the basic soaps is SO a plus, cause I can handle the bars immediately :-) I made the soapball with the hardened but slightly soft soap that was in the ziplock bag I used lol Still it was nice :-). I will be showing how to do the baggie method tomorrow though :-)

  • oooo "drooling" did you say shampoo bar you are my new *product pusha*

  • Ok I am not aiming to take Richeau's place as a product pusher lol. But yes I am going to be making shampoo and conditioner bars :-)

  • Hi sweetie... I love your soap videos and never tire of them. I learn alot from you because you seem to handmill quite a bit. Also makes a difference on the bars that you are handmilling with the outcome of your new bars. :) The bees are adorable. :)

  • Thank you MAC :-) I do like this baggie method better. These Lemon Cream soaps smell SOOOOOO good. Man they make me hungry when I smell them lol You are right about the type of basic soap used. I used 1 of my fist OP soaps, the ones that have cocoa butter in them. And I used 2 of the just tallow soaps and they are holding up just fine :-) I will do an "On Video" handmilling vid tomorrow since I have the method down pat now :-)

  • How much do you soaps cost???

  • I am thinking about selling my soaps. I would tentatively say $4.50 to $5.50 a bar depending on the type of ingredients I will be using. :-) Fresh ingredients means I will have to charge more. HTH

  • Is it me or should the scent last on your skin? I've paid good money for soap's that the scent doesn't last! I love soap!! Does your scents last on the skin?? I'd like to buy some if so.Thanx

  • The scent will stay on the skin if a fragrance oil is used. fragrance oils are synthetically made.I use essential oils and it is really the benefits of the essential oil used in the soap that you want to stay around. My lemon cream soap: the lemon is a good astringent for large pores helping to tighten the pores and reduce oil, while the cream helps soften the skin. Honestly the scent of lemons is still on my hands but I don't know how long it will stay.
