i've got this same ident on one of my tapings of "The Ten Commandments" -this one from 1994- when that flick aired on Univision channel 11, but without Tomita's signature fanfare to some weird editing screwup....
Good job. this is a high quality capture of the opening. Most CED's I have that contain this opening don't even play it this well. My first experience with CED was when my family took a vacation to Disney World in '86. The resort we stayed at provided a CED player in ever suit and they had an on-site rental house you could go to and get the discs. Back then, being only 6, I thought it was a laserdisc, but looking back I remember the caddies and pushing them into the player at the resort
Thanks. I try to make any digitization of video as good as possible, such as using source material that's in good shape as well as good equipment and cables and so on.
Although, the part where it's in stereo, I took the original Isao Tomita piece and edited down to match the RCA SelectaVision VideoDiscs ident.
Would you be willing to locate this title having a stereo rendition of this logo?
It's also possible that, while the movie may be in stereo, the bumper may have been originally mixed in mono and was never remade into stereo considering that RCA had commissioned Robert Abel and Associates to make the new bumper.
One way to find out will be to locate a stereo release with the old bumper and listen to the bumper's music.
I took the original stereophonic recording of the song and edited it to match it to the jingle used on the monaural opening as close as I could get it.
The stereo remaster is amazing, it would be even more cool if you sourced that off of vinyl records! Tomita sounds fantastic on vinyl. I read that RCA really screwed up Tomita's mixing when they made CDs of Tomita's work. :(
As indicated in the program description, I had furnished the stereo sound version. I edited down track 8 (Promenade) from Isao Tomita's rendition of "Pictures at an Exhibition."
How hard was the remaster, 3223?

@logostrikebeta2
Not too hard, at least for me.

The music is beautiful - I have always loved this logo! :-)

This logo looks good enough to eat.

They later used that music when you pause the game to go to the options screen in the NES version of "Mario Is Missing".

@HomeoftheGoodGuys
Of course, I think you mean the Promenade piece from "Pictures at an Exhibition" rather than Isao Tomita's interpretation of said music.

Oh my gosh! 0:11 reminded me of The Ring! haha... good intro though. CED is definitely a unique format!

I love what you did. It's amazing! Great work.

Shame nobody uses the many-color-bars idea in logos anymore.

@Watcher3223 or you could have used a Stereo disc.
thatguyontheright1 9 months ago
@thatguyontheright1
Except there were no stereo releases that used the older RCA SelectaVision VideoDiscs bumper.
Watcher3223 9 months ago
@Watcher3223 I could have sworn I have one, I thought they started Stereo discs in early 82, and did the new bumper later that year.
thatguyontheright1 9 months ago
@thatguyontheright1
That would be interesting if that was the case.

Oh, and nice story. Kind of cool to hear that Disney's hotels made that kind of accommodation available to their guests back then.

Out of curiosity what specific software are you using to remaster mono to stereo? sounds great

If you hear the humming in the music, it's actually the same as the music from the World Northal logo.

hey there,
it got kinda messed up so i cant do it,
i need avi files to make it work.
nicolaj0154 2 years ago
Try transcoding it.
There are transcoder utilities available that can reformat the file from MP4 into AVI, such as Internet Video Converter, which is a freeware utility.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
hey,
check out the response,
and say what you think.
nicolaj0154 2 years ago
i think this one is the best intro,
now we just need a widescreen version,
can you also try make it widescreen?.
nicolaj0154 2 years ago
Sorry to ask, but what's the point in making this widescreen?
Watcher3223 2 years ago
i thought it might would had been a
good idea because its stereo
and widescreen would make it look better.
nicolaj0154 2 years ago
Maybe.
But, my reluctance to do it is because matting it to make it widescreen would only cut out the top and bottom of the picture.
This graphic was originally composed for 4:3, after all.
Watcher3223 2 years ago
maybe i could try make it go 16:9 and stereo, if you can send me this video then i can do it and post as response
nicolaj0154 2 years ago
Stereo was good, but did that officially appear in stereo or was that you mixing?
MetallicBill 2 years ago
No. This was never released in stereo.
