  • haha 3:30 scooter parked on its own

  • Why? Why do they do it? Overgrown kids who enjoy their day by baiting motorists.

  • im sure the shop owners absolutely love the may day run.i bet there day profits go up like 500 percent

i tryed to drive down in my car and i couldnt even get close.

  • The only way to get around on that day is to walk.

The town sure does a roaring trade that day. What with the bikes & the Jack In The Green event as well :)

  • Chaps in chaps! LOL!

  • Indeed :)

  • Wow! So many. Thanks for sharing.

  • So many indeed! :)

  • My first thought on watching this was the contrast between the Jack in the green festival and this one yet both simultaneously going on. They seemed to complement one another somehow with the old and new world colliding but with no paradox somehow. Great video Andy, and I really enjoyed the pics you got of Old Hastings too.

  • I agree with your thoughts.

That was what was so good about that day. The two completely different events going on side by side & complimenting each other so well :)

  • I really liked the modern motorbikes and the ancient pagan stuff side by side like that, sort of like an alternate universe.

And that bike with all the skulls and bones and the coffin on the back!!!!! Wow and Good Lord. Impressive and creepy at the same time.

  • Hastings has it's problems. But, it is certainly a cool & intersting place to live in.

I was hoping somebody might pick up on seeing the two different sides of that day, side by side. I thought it was great seeing the Jack In The Green procession going past, as all of those bikes were going along the seafront :)

  • Hastings is a very cool place. Beautiful, too. I like the way you appreciate things, Andy. Your enthusiasm for life is very nice to see.

  • Great video Andy. It was a truely brilliant day. I do like the traffic warden at 1:04 looking like he's trying to do something worthwile.

  • Thanks.

I know what you mean about that traffic warden! I think they were fighting a losing battle on that day :)

  • The sights and sounds of this Andy were phenomenal. The views to give it scale were awesome. Well done!!

  • Thanks Danny.

The views from up on the hill are always impressive. Unfortunately, even up there you can't get all of it in! :)

  • Oh I LOVE these things! They do this two times a year here in Chattanooga and I always demand to cover it at work. Nothing like the sound of a purring hog! :)

  • I agree with you about the sound of a good bike Tony.

This particualr event is not organised as such. It's fairly spontaneous & has evolved over the years, with more & more bikes coming every year :)

  • Thanx for sharing this event with us, Andy! I'm glad you spotted some older models. As you know I'm still riding my '66 Triumph. Hastings rocks!!!

  • I thought you might enjoy this, knowing that you're a bike rider yourself.

    Hastings does indeed rock :)

  • Andy the scenery is beautiful and it's great to see the Hastings Bike Run. Hope you are enjoying the weekend! -Jim

  • Thanks Jim. I don't expect you get to see the sea that often where you are? :)

  • That's true Andy. It's about a 5 hour drive to the sea from where I live.

  • The view at 1:29 and 2:05 is amazing.

what is that thing on 5:45?

  • The view at 1:29 & 2:05 is taken from up by the castle.

And the bike at 5:45 was pretty amazing wasn't it? That must have taken a hell of a lot of putting together. I wonder if they ride it very often? :)

  • Motor bikes passed me by as a teenager although I did crash a mates moped once if that counts!

  • As i said. I've never been a big bike fan either. But, the site of all of those bikes together & with the noise too, is very impressive :)

  • The noisey bikes at the beginning are Harleys, I can tell the sound of them all the way over here:-)

The shot around 8:20 looks like Sturgess or Biketober Fest! Looks like it was loads of fun, thanks for sharing with us.

  • Thanks for identifying the Harleys. You obviously know your stuff Daryl.

As for the shot at 8:20. I thought that was the end of the bikes. But, there were still several hundred behind me, that i hadn't noticed! I think there were more than ever this year :)

  • I dont know a whole lot about motorcycles, but I have been hearing the sound of Harleys since I was a kid. My dad had friends in The Outlaws.

  • hmmm, I left a comment but got an error and it post. I said something stupid like, "Wow! I have never seen so many bikes in one place."

Aren't you glad I reposted a great comment like that? lol

  • LOL Marc.

    Any comment is worthwhile.

I don't think i've ever seen so many bikes in one place either :)

  • Fantastic video Andy!!! It was great getting to see a bike event from another country. We were surprised at the number of trikes. Really looks like quite an event.

  • There aren't too many trikes around normally. I expect they all come out especially for an event like this.

it's a good place to show off your bike :)

  • Thanks for another great video, Andy! Hastings seems like such a cool place to live. I'm just fascinated by Old Town, especially, loving history as I do. Is it expensive to live in such a historic place? Of course, there isn't really any place that isn't historic in England, is there? Lol.

    Hugs, Pat

  • Thank you.

Hastings is a relatively cheap place to live. Although the Old Town is more expensive. mainly because you're paying to live amongst the history.

But as you say, there is history everywhere over here :)

  • Wow, great view from above! Watching this video, I could not help but wonder about that sudden , tragic effect of a domino-style toppling.

The trikes with the skulls were right out of a horror movie.

So, does the population of Hastings double on this day?

  • LOL @ the domino effect comment. I'll admit, i was very careful when walking amongst the bikes, for that very reason!

Not sure about the population doubling. But, you could see how many people were around. Some to see the bikes. Some to see the Jack In The Green procession & some to see both.

They estimate an extra 50,000 visitors over the whole weekend! :)

  • looked like a fun day... if you're into bikes that is! ;)

  • As i said, i'm not a big bike fan. But, it's a mighty impressive sight :)

  • interesting!

  • It certainly was :)

  • love the shots of the BSA and Triumph and Vincent. I love BSA's! Royal Enfields too!

And I see the Adams Family were there on the family bike, coffin and all! ¦¬]

  • Well, if you do come down next year, you'll have to let me know :)

  • Blimey - it's huge! Would be great to find out the origins and just how quickly it grew.

btw if you see someone next year falling off rather ungracefully - that'll be me! ;-)

  • I did tell you didn't i?

As i said in an earlier video. I did hear that the origin came as a kind of tribute to a biker who died. His friends recreated a run that he used to enjoy. it's just grown & grown from that day & now nobody seems to know how it started :)

  • Looks like our anual Harley day. Awesome sight!!

  • There were quite a few Harley's there.

I did like the mixture of old & new bikes :)
