My 4 month old basset doesn't howl so much as he "Barkhowls". I've tried to entice him to howl, but he hasn't yet. Maybe when he gets older?

@HumveeRazon Ours shed a lot also.  It's normal. Just get used to the taste of dog hair.

oh god, two times the barking lol i can only stand one! But i wouldnt want to hear any other howl :) love my basset... Every time a cop etc. goes by this is what i hear... Only she has more a rolling bark most of the time kinda like at 1:06

@caddyrolla123 lol its funny when you dont have a basset, i love mine but the howling gets very annoying and i can take her on a walk without my arm getting pulled out of socket every time she picks up some kind of scent.

Mine did the same thing. She kept her nose to the ground constantly and then she'd smell something and wham... take off like a flash. I was a kid then she'd yank me to the ground.
