  • why do you need to stack the quarters on top of the eyeshadow and set it under something heavy?? (:

  • @Leah378 that's the "pressing" part, it compresses the powder so it is not a loose powder when it dries

  • Hey doll!! WHat color nailpolish are you wearing?? LOVE IT!!! =D

  • Just wondering why you cant just buy it already made?

  • @goatheads369 Mac doesn't sell their pigments in pressed form, so if you really like one of their pigment colors you have to press it yourself (if you want it in a palette)

  • Thank you... can't wait to get started..

  • why do you put a quarter on it?

  • I'm gonna have to ask. what are you wearing on your nails?

  • can you witch hazel? alcohol really can dry out the skin....

  • lol, that's why we all need encyclopedias at home!

    Thanks, very helpful tips!

  • it looks like peanut butter! shiny pb

  • how many cm or inches is a quater? is this a stupid question - i don't have any mac pallettes yet, so i can't size up.

  • do you know how to do mineral shadows like spell or bare escentuals?? is it the same method?

    thanks elle <3

  • loveee your nail polish!

  • enkore's tut was so complicated, but now i will press my pigments, thanks!

  • its regular alcohol you just call it rubbing alcohol

  • i love your nails, what are you wearingg??

  • OPI "Do you lilac it"

  • opi do you lilac it?

  • hia i know u prob wont answer but i live in the uk and i really want coastal scents pallets but how could i do that would i have to pay for the shipping or wot im confused !!! :@ ?? pleaseeeee get back to me

  • coastal scents does inetrnational shipping and they really pack thigs well in the boxes with lots of bubblewrap. you have to pay shipping - but it's really nto that expensive.

alternatively you can search the 88 palletes, matte and shimmer on ebay and it's the same product. (i don't know about the otehr palletes. there is also a 120 pallette floating around ebay also).

  • Buy them on eBay, I got mine for 10€ including shipping, it's the exact same product, so CS is a rip off

  • Coastal Scents has great customer service. You should really ask them.

  • i was wondering if you could show us your pigments and your favorite eye shadows :)

  • this video really helped! I watched Leesha's and it didn't work at all... your video was more helpful for me.. and I tried pressing and it worked! So thank you for posting this video.. :)

  • you cant press mattes?

  • how come u need to press it after it has already dried? thanks for the tutorial btw xx

  • You press them after it dries because as the alcohol evaporates out, it can leave little pockets of air in the pressed pigment which can lead to your pressed pigment crumbling later on. Pressing it ensures that the pigment is nice and compact in the pan so that it truly is "pressed" together.

  • thank you so much this was very helpful

  • im wearing the same elsa peretti ring and nail polish as you! aha how random.

  • i'm glad you put your encyclopedia's to good use lol

    great vid btw

  • Another great video!

  • luvvvvvv the call ur mother nail color!!

  • So a pressed pigment is basically an eyeshadow? :)

  • This process will make your pigments form bacteria quicker. It will stay fresh for a while but not as long as shadow that is already prepped.

  • What is the difference from appling pigment directly (using the patting motion) to pressing the pigment then applying it? Is it much easier? Great video :-)

  • how many pigment samples do you use to press 1 eyeshadow???????

  • Awesome.

I couldn't message so I hope you read my comment on here.

Could you do a tutorial for smoky eyes that are just right for the first day back to school? Thanks :)

  • wow..so cool!

  • oh i am sorry,

i just thought it would burn:)

    hahah

  • I'm always baffled as to why people use alcohol...

    Water works just fine.

  • For pressing?! Doesn't it crumble?

  • Thanks for this video, Elle, it is really helpful and informative!! :-)

  • Please, someone inform me...what is the purpose of doing this?

  • I love love love "do you lilac it?" nail polish! I have it on right now too!

  • it reminded me of peaunt butter haha. of course only i would think of that!

  • I feel like it would waste a lot of pigment though cuz it's like impossible to get EVERY single little bit of shadow out. But I might do it cuz I hate loose shadow lol

  • Mucho Gracias

  • Cute nails girl! :) And woah that looks so fun haha!

  • 5 stars for the funny, random, added comments on the video! :) haha

  • OMG i love your nail color!

    what is it?

  • oooohhh no Elle, I visited the sites and now Ive spent a lot of money! Cant wait till my hubby sees the bill.

  • helpful!

    thanks

  • is there a reason why you can use matte or glitter?

  • Glitter wont press, the alcohol wont absorb into it.

I thought you could do this with mattes though...

  • Thank u Elle..this video was very informative n educational! xoxo

  • luv your nails....shiny :)

  • thank you so much for this video i always thought it was going to be hard to press pigments

  • it wont evaporate as fast.

  • I Have A Qustion,

When you Presss A Pigment, Is It Turning It Into A Showdow, Since it becomes Powdery After? Or is It Still A Pigment?

  • Thanks so much for doing this video. I was always curious if you had to buy another little dish or how it was done to make more dishes of eyeshadow.

    Now I know!! Yay!

  • I wish I would have seen this video before I went to MAC Saturday! I was going to buy a pigment and decided on a shadow instead because I wanted it to fit in my pallet. Thanks though I will pick up the pigment on my next trip to MAC. :)

  • why would you want to press pigments? is that for your eyeshadow?

  • Hi ELLE!

SO iM ONE OF YOUR SUBSCRIBERS AND i WAS WONDERiNG WHAT MAC COLORS AND BRUSHES WOULD YOU RECOMMEND EVERY GiRL AVE TO DO jUST EVERyDAy AND GOiNG OUT LOOKS?? THANKS YOUR ANSWER WOULD HELP ALOT

  • hey anyone

she said you cant use matte or glitter.

then what other types are ther /

  • Hey Elle

I was just wondering what are your thoughts on transformer? (the stuff you use to make dry eye shadow liquid)

  • Hi Elle,! I'm one of your subscribers and have been watching your videos and tutorials for a while.

I was just looking at some of your videos and looked at the oldest one you have posted. It was sooo cute =) you had freckles and a southern accent haha =) well anyways I love your videos! keep posting them!

  • wow you're right, her accent is gone

  • Thanks! Now i just have to go buy some pigments!

  • thx for doing this video

  • it sounds dense but what is the difference between rubbing alcohol and say like alcohol like vodka etc. i think once i used vodka to take the glue of my pans when depotting before?

  • vodka isnt just alcohol, you have other ingrdients in it..so unless you want that in your eye shadow......

  • So all the ones labeled "pearl," "shimmering," stuff like that is ok? Oh and I feel like a total n00b asking this but is there an alternative then for doing this with mattes and glitters?
