this one is shorter dan a original san setse kon, but i have also a san setsu kon and my sticks are 35cm and my chaine's are 13cm. its a self made san setsu kon. ( sorry for maybee the bad english, but i come from holland )
Good stuff. In my experience though, these san setsu kon nunckucks are too long and too thick. they should be thick enough to fit all three pieces in a single hand. Fully extended they should be around the length of a regular nunchuck. (making it around 5-7 inches a section) they were originally designed as a concealable weapon. with techniques designed to draw and retract the weapon quickly back into one hand.
Nice, but isn't it a little bit too short ? I have tried to do sth with san setsu kon and i think it was longer, it had about2 meters length, you freestyle like with it with nunchaku style, but i;m not sure if can do it with 2m. length weapon.
too low for nunchaku and too strange for san setsu kon
@qthangoe These are nunchaku. What I believe you are thinking of is the Three-Section Staff. These are Three-Section Nunchaku. Many people who use this mistakenly practice this as they would with Three-Section Staff. This guy's style is that of Nunchaku style, the correct way of using them.
@NonCommunityChannel thanks for explaining that, I was wondering why he wasnt using any of the stances or Bo techniques like the twirl. But on a technical level isn't the sansetsukon and this weapon the same, just varrying legnth? Correct me if i'm wrong. Though it'd be a little akward I could perform the same techniques he is applying in this vid with my sansetsukon which is home made and about the same legnth as his but mine is large enough for Bo techniques (it might be a little bigger)
Srry for long term response, San Setsu Kon means 3 section staff ( kon is word of staff in old japanesse) and it means longer weapon with techniques both from staff and nun. Impossible to do san setsu kon techniques on such short sections.
Damn is this good! This is like a next step ppl who mastered ni setsu kon nunchaku. Impressive. I want one. What length would you recommend for the middle section? In Poland we have nunchaku prohibited (only within sport club) so I guess san setsu kon would not qualify ;] I donno... Anyway it looks very traditional and cool... Keep it up man. 5*
Although this weapon is similar and it might had been inspired by the SanJieGun (tri-staff) Is not the same.Given there might be a lot of similarities but this one is shorter therefore techniques are defensive type and executed in a shorter-faster manner, like a burst of energy. Also the advantage of the weight for strikes like in the SanJieGun is not available. With this weapon you look more for entraping the oponent and finishing him/her off with another technique.
No, these are nunchukus with an additional section added to them. San Jie Gun or 3 Sectional Staff are about 6-8 inches longer on each section, and thus are a bit harder to use/handle.
No it is not.The tri-staff has more considerable weight and lenght easily use as a staff or club in which you can crush your opponent or strike him at spear lenght. This one is use more like a flexible baton or rope.Only in the defensive & for emtraping the opponent. But requiring additional technique or weapon to finish it.With this weapon you simply are looking for more leverage to do this, which might not have been possible with the single nunchuk.Problably it was use to snare horses legs.
this shit is a nunchaku lol

Very good! But your eyes need to focus on imaginary enemys during a kata, even a freestyle one.

@CharlieDiliberto the length of a typical nunchaku is from center of palm to elbow (forearm + half inch ish) roughly 12 inched

pretty good. I hear San Setsu Kon is the hardest martial arts weapon to master.
Vergil555 2 years ago
youre not suppose to use this as nunchucks... theres a different method of wielding this weapon.

Oh, and trust me, if you hit yourself with a set of San Jie Gun, it hurts like a SOAB.
