  • That hair is bigger than Amy Winehouse's beehive... and Karen can sing MUCH better than Amy W!

  • nice, amazing!!!!!! I love you carpenrters!

  • LOL OMG this is so funny. thanks for posting this! i never knew Karen had such a naughty sense of humor , just goes to show you what a all around talent she really was!

  • Richard mentioned in an interview in 1970 that he was a big fan of Frank Zappa. Frank was very much influenced by 50's singing groups and pop music, and he loved to make fun of it (lovingly, of course). A lot of the stuff in this clip really reminds me of some of the 50's-style songs that Frank did, particularly when Richard sings that "Beauty School Dropout" part. Karen is a riot in this...so nice to see. And a clue as to how popular "Grease" was even before the movie came out.

  • Why is Richard singing this way? Is he imitating a certain singer?

  • Two years before the movie was born hmmmm guess The Carpenters should get the credit with the good ideas for the movie....

  • @vmuto1 "Grease" was a Broadway musical before it was ever a movie. Duh.

  • @vmuto1 It was a play! how many times do they have to say it!??

  • SOOOOOOOOO FUUUUUUUNNY THANX FOR THE VIDEO KAREN IS A NATURAL FUNNY LADY

  • great to see Karen and Richard havin fun and letting their hair down!!!! R.I.P. Karen xxx

  • This performance is from November, 1976 in Holland.....two years before "Grease" the movie was released. It's based on the popular musical theatre production of "Grease".

  • ...I wish that is was "Yesterday Once More". Karen would still be here.

  • Thanks very much for posting!! Seeing this of Richard and Karen having fun, and Karen adopting a whole different singing style, was FUN!!! FUN!!!

  • The FILM version of "Grease" came out in 1978. If this is from 1976, then it is based on the STAGE MUSICAL, not the film version with Olivia Newton-John .

Never seen Karen do this kind of physical comedy before and she's hysterical!

  • Actually, Olivia and Karen were friends so this was obviously in great humor.

  • I love this..She's ver funny..very big boobs..lolz.."don't be afraid of a virgin"..hahahaha..

  • haha never would've thought they would've ever done anything like this esp. with the fake bos and the large hair lol wow.

  • KC was really having fun with the fake boobies. What a sweet, wonderful talent.

  • Brilliant!! Took me a while before I believed it was Karen! So funny

  • maravilloso!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    es muy graciosa =D

  • Muito engraçado! Karen, além de linda e dona da voz mais linda de todos os tempos, era extremamente simpática e divertida!

  • Again, why is it mean-spirited? They were just doing a medley from, what was at the time, the play Grease. I'm sure Ms Dee wasn't at all offended. :-)

  • funny~

  • This was mean-spirited. I'll bet Richars regrets doing it now.

  • Why is this mean-spirited? Richard and Karen actually had a lot of fun doing this skit. It shows their versatility.

  • LOL

    it's really funny!!

  • LOVE this, thank you so much for posting

  • cool ! but it whas 1978 , a parady on grease the movie

  • It´s 1976, before the movie. That time the big sucess was the play Grease. In 1978 the film was the huge sucess! And for coincidence the star of the movie was Olivia, Karen´s best friend.

    Thanks for your comment!

  • It was in 1976, it was mentioned in an interview for the Carpenters (hopefully somewhere still on youtube).

    Gracias Vikca :-)

  • Wow! It's great!!!!!!!

I can't stop laughing, Karen was a great comedian.

I love Richard's voice singing Yesterday once more
