We just say we want the right to choose, but that doesn't mean every woman is going to have an abortion, most change their minds. In cases of rape, statutory rape, and incest it is very necessary to keep this right too. What if someone's child got kidnapped, raped and having the kid would kill them and the kid would be stillborn anyway? No law should be made that tells people their business unless it directly affects everyone else like a person drinking behind the wheel.

My idea of "extreme and dangerous" is more along the lines of allowing abortions even if the child survives birth, as Obama voted toward.
Extreme and dangerous is putting people's rights behind the inferiorly unborn's life! The unborn cannot respect the mother or anyone else, but an infant can.

Let's just say that the infant can return the favor of respect, and an unborn child can't. The infant can communicate by crying when its mother is in distress, it is concerned for the mother, and to have concern is to respect. Unfortunately for the unborn, it is impossible to do this.

So, when an unborn reacts to the mother, he still does not have respect for anybody? But, when a newborn reacts to the mother, he has a great sense of concern? This is what you believe?
I have questions. In the final trimester, does the unborn have a concern for his mother? When the baby is just pulled from the mother's womb, before the umbilical cord is cut, does he then have a sense of concern for the mother? After the cord is cut, does he suddenly develop this concern?
An unborn child has no morals, and even a mother who is pregnant with that child can misinterpret things out in the real world. Respect is a sense of morality, but to not be respected is immoral. However, everyone, except the unborn, has respected someone at some point in their life because it is learned through communication and self-examination. The unborn child has nothing to respect to though, not even the mother.

This newborn has more respect and a greater sense of morality than he did before his cord was cut? I don't see how you can reach that conclusion, while writing off any bondings between a mother and her unborn baby as "misinterpretations".
Why does this matter? Respect is something we all have to learn.Some people 20 years old don't have respect for thier mother. Adoption is not the option during pregnancy. What can the mother do if she doesn't want to go through pregnancy? She can't give the child up just for people to adopt because the unborn child would die.

as far as abortion goes i feel that women shouldn't get abortion's. It's their child and their responsibility. But at the same time if say a 16 year old girl was raped and became pregnant she she be able to get an abortion because no 16 year and girl should have to take on the responsibility of being a parent especially when they were raped. And we have the Health Care Plan threatening our rights to choose whether or not we want to have health insurance or not. Health care is expensives and sucks nowadays anyway. We just say we want the right to choose, but that doesn't mean every woman is going to have an abortion, most change their minds. In cases of rape, statutory rape, and incest it is very necessary to keep this right too. What if someone's child got kidnapped, raped and having the kid would kill them and the kid would be stillborn anyway? No law should be made that tells people their business unless it directly affects everyone else like a person drinking behind the wheel.

I don't go to ANY church b/c I hold church in my heart and believe in no branch of religion other than God and Jesus and they say I only have to obey their laws. It does not say anything about abortion being a sin in the bible. Any anything dealing w/ sex and people's bodies is their own business. And as far as preventing future humans from exsisting by having an abortion is concerned, everytime anyone decides to not have sex they are doing the same exact thing. Why compound the evil of incest of rape by adding murder to the slate!? A lot of rape victims who get abortions get even more screwed up due to the guilt of the abortion! she never did anything wrong when she was abused, but when she allowed the death of her child she did do wrong. The woman is a victim. She did nothing wrong and was subjected to rape. It was unfair and evil and I couldn't imagine how terrible it must be for her. But there is another life that has begun. A life that is just as important as you or me and he/she has never done anything wrong. We already have one victim of a terrible act of evil. An abortion will make two victims and one of them dies. Do two wrongs make a right? Why cant we help the woman and the child by showing them both love and support?

1) A fetus is NOT a person, contrary to popular "pro-life" belief, medical experts even said this in their reports (keyword: EXPERTS)
2) It's the woman's body, SHE gets to decide what happens next, not you or anybody else
3) Even if the fetus DID have rights (which it doesn't), the fact that the mother's health, both mental and physical, will be put in serious jeopardy if she is FORCED to carry her rapist's child against her will should outweigh any rights the fetus would have

Even worse Palin thinks that hormonal birth control (the most effective form) causes an abortion. So don't expect to see any protection for those forms of contraception or requiring health insurance companies to cover them. Under a McCain / Palin administration you could see conscience clause protections for pharmacists to dispense basic CONTRACEPTION like the pill. You'd also see a refusal for the government to fund those effective forms of birth control because the pro-lifers oppose them.

She knew Trig was Downs Syndrome, yet her water broke 1 month early which puts her at about 35-36 wks and she still flew from Texas to Alaska, 11 hrs, than drove 45 minutes to a hospital, it begs the question here. If you are raped, report it. Go to the Hospital, they will perform a DNC on you that cleans your womb out before there is a chance of getting pregnant. I think that should be funded .If you are "out there" use birth control. If you don't want children at all, get fixed. Pro-life is not Anti-Women, we just try to think outside the box, we don't believe anyone should choose who lives and who dies no matter what age and stage the person is. Rape and incest pregnancy often never happens. Less then 10% of abortions are done for that reason. I know If I got raped I would get tested for STDS and get a morning after pill right away.

The Constitution does not recognize a fetus as a person; so thus, the government doesn't dole out money, tax relief nor documents i.e. passport to a fetus. The relief is given to the mother. Until a fetus is born, its a potential life, since fetuses can die up to 9 months invitro and never become a living breathing, on its own human being.

I am a pro choice believer in that I would say I'm 51% pro choice and 49% pro life. It's a really tough call I struggle with. I guess a woman should be able to choose is why I fall into the 51% arena. But I can understand those who belive in pro life. No. 1) The unborn, especially in later stages, can/does move inside its mother's womb in response to things happening in the outside world. 2) I have never seen or heard of a baby crying because "it is concerned for the mother". A baby will cry when the mom screams or cries herself, sure. That's a loud noise or change. A baby will more likely cry when its mom stops feeding it, because she's so exhausted.

An unborn child has no morals, and even a mother who is pregnant with that child can misinterpret things out in the real world. Respect is a sense of morality, but to not be respected is immoral. However, everyone, except the unborn, has respected someone at some point in their life because it is learned through communication and self-examination. In the case of rape/incest which is less then 10% is still murder that does not change the fact that you are killing a unborn.Their is always adoption besides once the mother sees the baby she may not even want to give it up.Their is more people wanting to adopt then we have babies for in the US. Etopic pregnancy is the only reason to end a life b/c the baby will die anyway along w/ the mother.

Adoption is not the option during pregnancy. What can the mother do if she doesn't want to go through pregnancy? She can't give the child up just for people to adopt because the unborn child would die.
And going through pregnancy is part of raising that child.
A mother does not have to feel guilty of her actions, the unborn child cannot respect a mother.

Nobody "likes" infanticide, but some of us remember what it was like before it was made legal. Newborn bodies littered back alleys. No amount of shouting is going to make us change our minds, but you're deluding yourself if you think American women will sit idly by and let govt take them back to the dark ages. as far as abortion goes i feel that women shouldn't get abortion's. It's their child and their responsibility. But at the same time if say a 16 year old girl was raped and became pregnant she she be able to get an abortion because no 16 year and girl should have to take on the responsibility of being a parent especially when they were raped. I think abortion is something that should stay legal but there should be tighter restrictions when it comes to getting one.

Personally, I don't like abortion. I believe everyone has the right to life. However, I'm not a woman...I don't feel I have the right to tell someone else what they can or can't do. Politically, I am for the right to choose. I am for the right to have an abortion in cases of rape and/or incest.
We have to realize that abortions will happen. History proves this. I don't want women to have to chose between having a child they don't want or can't take care of and a back-alley abortion.

murder will always happen should we make it legal because it will always happen and we dont wont to impose our morals on those who dont have the same beliefs? that arguement is rediculous, we should make it illegal so that law recognizes that abortion is evil and will work to end it. Murder is illegal and it still happens but the important thing about it being illegal is that we can work towards the elimination of it from society.

We may try to eliminate murder, but it won't happen. It's always been illegal, and it is still happening in shocking numbers. That's the same for abortion: we could make it illegal again, but women will find ways to get rid of their unwanted pregnancies, and many would die in the process. Is that chosing life? And forgive me, but I thought the Constitution and Amendments were written to separate Church and State to make sure people don't impose morality as law. Imposition of morals: ridiculous.

The difference between you and me is that I don't accept that abortion = murder. That was jamesbrenan's argument. With the limited space we have, I didn't have room to fully debate the issue. I feel it is NOT the same as murder. You say it's a fallacy. That's your belief and you have the right to believe it. Rowe v Wade was upheld because the Constitution assures that one person or group's values will not be forced on the nation by law. I won't get into a flaming war with you, with name-calling.

I didn't say that the fallacy was that abortion was murder, I said the "even if it's illegal, it'll happen anyways" argument is, because at that point, you're effectively endorsing anarchy. Anything you outlaw will still be commited by a few people. It's a fallacy to say that's an argument, as murder, theft, rape, etc. are no different than abortion in that respect.

There is ample proof that women have aborted unwanted pregnancies for centuries, maybe longer, whether it is with herbs or a clothes hanger. Many people would prefer that a woman who doesn't want a baby and refuses to carry the fetus should have facilities available in which she can have this done safely instead of dying on the table of a butcher in a back-alley abortion. Remember I said I don't like abortion and I wish it didn't happen. But it will. Why should the mother AND baby die?

Because abortion is the WRONG choice. And, there IS such a thing as taking the consequences of your own actions- if they're stupid/desperate enough to risk a back alley abortion, it's their own fault if they die. Same way it's a theif's fault if he ends up in prison, and it's a murderer's fault if he ends up in the electric chair. If they're that desperate to end an innocent life, they DESERVE it.

No, rape and molestation are very different from abortion. Abortion is a crime of mutilation of yourself and others. Rape and molestation have an external influence that does something horrible. Abortion is in itself something horrible a woman pays someone to do to her.

No, I'm not for brutal violence. And for me, if ANYONE, even a Democrat, was that vehemently against Roe V. Wade, it would seal my vote entirely. Because I exist solely because my birth mother was pro-life. She realized there were BETTER ways. That killing a child is wrong. And nothing will convince me otherwise.

I never said I condoned back-alley abortions, I said if a woman is stupid/desperate enough to get one, and risk it, it's their fault if they die or are injured because of it. Anti-Abortionists don't have the monopoloy on valuing human life. The point that was being made was that we have so many children in foster care, abused, neglected, unwanted already. The number of these would increase enormously, and break the social services system. There are too many children in the system as it is, most never get adopted, and you're saying these children would? What would the quality of life for all these children? That concern is also concern for human life.

I am living too, only because my mom was pro-choice and that she took care of me even when my father was an outright loser. She loved me even if she hated my actions/behaviors. As for your terms, pro-murder is means to support killing of anybody for any reason, and I doubt the general population is pro-murder.
You are pro-choice, you may not realize it, but everyone is pro-choice. Women, whether they value giving birth or not, are pro-choice. Remember that.

But, if your mother was pro-choice, then she would support the right of another mother to abandon her newborn or teenager if the father was a loser. You are rarely pro-choice, if you consider.
