My God you people don't know what you're talking about!!!! If the Corolla is VVT-i, it has 126hp, if the Corolla is a Xrs, it has VVTL-i, then it has 180hp...
If that is a stock Corolla VVT-i than it only has 130hp( I know because i have one). The XRS model wich has the VVTL-i engine has 170 horsepower stock. The Civic with a B16A2 engine makes 160 horsepower stock. Unless it is a JDM (Japanese spec 1992 and up i think), They make 170 stock HP. That Civic was definetly not stock you can clearly hear the intake and fart pipe. Race an XRS next time, It'll be more competetive. I hate it when biased people over hype their cars.
VVTi and VTEC are not comparable... VVTLi and VTEC are comparable...
VVTLi (Variable Valve Timing AND Lift intelligent system)
VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control)
A 9th Gen. Corolla WOULD win if it has the 2ZZ GE VVTLi because it would be pushing almost 190. That Corolla probably has the 3ZZ FE VVTi in it which only does about 109 hp.
The Civic on the other hand probably has the B16A2 DOHC VTEC in it which has a 51 HP advantage over the 3ZZ FE.
@Ian74263 humm 3zzfe? it is 1zzfe dude. lol b16 with 52 horse power advantage? lol so 109 + 52 hp = 161hp from wheel. from bhp it would be around 190-200hp. humm dont sound soo real for a stock b16. as far as i know b18 only gets around 180-190 bhp and from wheel maybe 160hp. the 1zz gets around 125-130 bhp so maybe around 109 hp at wheel is right. vvti is not the same as vtec. it only opens early on the intake valve. but has no lift so yeah.
lol who wud have a corrola in a movie u gota b on 1 tight budget to have it on hahaha the only good toyota is a supra celicas camrys which are like family cars are just gay honda is still making sports cars that run just asgood as your toyotas and atleast the gas pedals dont get stuck right
you sir are a terrible person, i pity you, its ok though some people are just born better than others.
your unfortunate enough to be the "others" though, writing this now im actually wondering how many times you'll have to read it before you understand it, or if you'll just make some random comeback that wont make sense like "go watch fast and furious, they're smart people"
@scheizzerkopf funny u say that but in tokyo drift 1 of the most noticible cars was the velside nsx i am an evo boy but that nsx was definatly a more of a eye catcher hondas have their own style and they na cars if u put 6k into a civic ill wave good by to any stock evo or sti and still the evo and sti wud cost more hondas deserve teh respect as really fast small cars wat 1.6 has close to 200hp a honda dose
can anybody help me find two dyno sheets from the same engine one of the being vvti one without it so i can compare and contrast the results because i am goin to be getting a 2jzge vvti and i want to know how much faster it can be than a non vvti. because all i know is that the vvti version of 2jzge is a little more powerful, torquier, and higher revving than non vvti. and i dont want to hear "vtec is better than vvti" because in the end of the day vtec is still honda. i like cars not toys lol
@nat276dodgers u call honda a toy but a lot of aka toy cars beat toyotas when honda realeases the new nsx its going to make the supr and r35gtr look like shit there goes honder doing wat they do best and that is making alot of power from a small na engine wat 3.8l engine makes 600hp and 600nm or tourque??????? hondas awsome toyotas are average
@KryptoDragon Wrong, it is heavier because of the body kit. But it is quicker because of it's upgraded suspension. The cons outweigh the pros for the Mugen Si though.
suspension? wtf how dose suspension help with power? lol body kit on those si are craps. they probably don't even weigh over 2-5 pounds each piece. 4 doors si are heavier i believe.
@manuelguimaray depends on driver. from 0 it can be hard to say. but on 40 mph roll i seen si pull xrs a car length. but that is a 1.8 vs. a 2.0. you can say the vvtli motor is one on its top 1.8 motor. lol 2.0 humm some thing that should go against other 2.0 like evolution or yeah. lol
VVT-I's have nothing special except fuel effiency, why do you think their in Corollas? Their not meant to race, Toyota just thought they had a chance to take over the 4-cylinder N/A types.
Thats why Toyota has Dual VVTI. For stronger cars. Like the Camry v6 which beats just about anything on the road. Same can be said for the Accord V6. Civic and Corolla base models (5 speed manuals) run just about even...my Corolla lost by a car length in a quarter mile to a new Civic EX, and mine is a stock 2005 Corolla. You'd be surprised what a Corolla CAN do as opposed to what it can't. I took my car to the strip and ran a 15.89 quarter mile. Video on youtube will prove it.
@KryptoDragon Not the 1.6 liter rollas. They were too underpowered. The Corolla I drive has 125 hp and 125 lb ft of torque. It is really light though. 5 speed manual, all stock except for a CAI added a few months ago. Ran a 15.89 before I added the CAI, but then my clutch started to slip over winter so I havent ran it at the track because it'd be pointless. An XRS runs mid to low 15s stock depending on the driver.
@sleepisyummy well at least your running in the 15 range. a few more little unreal mod might get you to mid 15 lol the 1.6 is too under powered. 1.6 is for 4age. but pretty good motor if 4agte. underpowered but i heard its really handling.
@KryptoDragon Yeah well the stock time for my car is 16.7...LOL I ran .8 seconds better than the pro who had the best time while recording for the review magazines. And my car was stock at the time I went as well. I have a CAI and I need a clutch pretty badly lol it's slipping now. But yeah header combined with exhaust will definitely help. But the clutch is the main mod I'm going for.
but im not talking about vvt-i im talking about vvtl-i THE L is for lift as seen in the video. and ive never seen (or never will see) a vvt-i corolla run 8500rpm lol. except the xrs with 2zz. same egine as in the lotus exige (with out the super charge of course), celica GT-S, and vibe GT(with 2zz). check it out.
