  • turning on apple logo, black screen

  • MUST BE SO SLOW.

  • Where do you get you processor upgrades? or do they come out of other macs?

  • @familyguy9877 I got them mainly via ebay or through donations from other people. There are still some floating around ebay

  • How did you do that

  • Is it possible to run 10.5 on a beige G3 with a 500MHz CPU upgrade, or does the upgrade need to be more than 867MHz (the minimum requirement for 10.5 leopard)?

  • @TommyA1912 . Hi, any g4 will work... if you use another mac to install it then the cpu speed doesn't matter, as it's only the installer that checks this.

  • @jimjamyahauk OK, thanks I'll try it.

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 Shut up and don’t watch videos about Macs if you dislike them. No one wants to know that you hate them, ok?

  • @SuperGoldfish1999.. Grow up. No system is perfect and no system is 'the best'.

  • @jimjamyahauk id say mac and linux is better, windows is crap with its pointless bluescreens and prone to viruses

  • @SuperGoldfish1999 I don't think so...

Macs are faster than windows PCs by a lot.

plus, intel macs can run windows so why would you get a pc besides the fact that it's cheaper?

  • Nice job, it boots pretty quick for a 1990's machine running a 2008 OS. And no, it''s not an easy thing to do. I read your fritter page, lot's of work to keep that box runnin. And it is a G3, it's just been tweaked. Who cares what the ignorant think about what you called it. The machackers know what you did. I bet there are no 586's out there running Vista.: 0

  • Sorry bud but this isn't a G3 Mac.

You've done the equivalent of brain surgery, and changed it to a G4 Mac. If you could get 10.5 to run on an actual G3 with no mods, then I'd be impressed.

  • Agreed - in the description of the video it does mention this. However, it wasn't as simple as just upgrading the CPU to a G4 - as the motherboard and rest of the hardware was still G3-era, and not G4.

  • yeah because inside that model he might have a rev c motherboard that uses a ZIF processor so he can easily upgrade it to a faster g4 or even a g4

  • @cmarshall1018

The rev A, B, C Beige G3 all had the same ZIF socket, there is 3 versions of the Beige G3, DT = Desktop, MT = Minitower, AIO = All in One (which was only sold in the USA in the education market). They all use the same motherboard, the only difference between the 3 motherboard revs was the GPU on them, each rev had a faster version of the ATI Rage GPU. The First Rev motherboard had a chipset (Grackle) that could run at 83mhz vs 66mhz that was in the other 2 versions.

  • Well I guess he should put "Modded Beige G3" in the title since I agree it may be misleading

  • nice work dude! is a shame that I can't do the same with my ibook g3 900 mhz

  • thanks - yes if only the ibooks were as upgrade able as the G3 Pismos...

  • he has a g4 inside it

  • old macs like this look sooooo much better than the new ones in my option

  • Did you get Leopard's introduction video, or it started to play the music and went directly to the wizard? There was a report here on YouTube of a G4 Cube + Open Firmware speed trick doing the same thing as I stated.

  • well, since there is no quartz extreme or core imaging, that means no video

  • I'd already pre-installed Leopard, so it didn't go into the setup. I believe it would play the video if it had been installed on the machine.

  • Is It Possible To Run Bootcamp If You Upgrade To An Intel Processor?

  • No PPC Mac can be upgraded to an intel chip - the whole motherboard wouldn't support it. - so no bootcamp.

  • Why Is MS-DOS Loading Up Before The Dock Comes Up?

  • It's the 'verbose' mode of Mac OS X, which you can access by holding down apple-V when starting up. It allows you to see any errors that crop up in the boot process - useful for troubleshooting or seeing a more detailed view of what's actually happening when booting up.

  • I picked Up One of these from my local dump for $10 and it runs Mac Os 9.2.2

  • Good find... you can take it all the way up to 10.4 with Xpostfacto if it has enough RAM.

  • so you went to the dump and asked if they had any macs? and you said you would buy one. I gotta try that

  • no I bought it from my friend who got it from a dump.

  • It looks so fake, yet so real...

  • Je ne sais pas si il est alumé mais les ligne de commandes au début ont l'air très ancienne et avec Leopard...

  • Il est en mode verbose.

  • Amazing.

  • I would imagine you're using an ADB keyboard/mouse pair with this machine?

  • Yep - ADB mouse and keyboard.

  • it's alive!

  • It looks... unnatural...

  • WHAT THE FUCK

  • c´mon! Tell me how you

1st INSTALLED Leopard from on this mac

    2nd Where u got the g4 from

    cool vid, 5 stars
