The sg George was using was later given to pete ham out of badfinger, Pete had until he died and recently been sold at auction. George give it to Pete when he Eric Clapton gave him "lucy" the red les paul
This was one of the tracks where George played a Gibson SG instead of the Gretsch he so often used (see around 1:05 into the video). It definitely added an edge and different tone to the tracks. I've always loved this recording. Thanks for posting!
@MFPhoto1 OBSCURE? ...mmm not for 12 years now its top requested all over youtube and beyond ...you would know that if you ever read the description page here ...& its history. Cherrio!
Beatles were fucking genius. Timothy Leary claimed they were angels sent from heaven. Unsurpassed 40 years later. How did this happen. I don't know if they were divine but just listen endless greatness! Today's music is a plastic commodity. I'm glad to live in a world where there are Beatles.
From what I remember, John wrote and directed this song toward the Yogi Maharishi who made an unwanted sexual advancement on one the ladies during the last venture there. Obviously John thought he was a hypocrite and came away with a very low oppinion of him.
@sbpark95 Don't worry. If you think about the demographic on FB and the people who are more likely to put likes on ect and the fact that Zepp and The Beatles did what they did and are still commercially competitive way after their hay days, it puts things more into perspective :)
@sbpark95 well, i hate to say, really, i do, but it makes sense...i mean, take your average teeny bopper bubble gum chewer today--you think their hip to the beatles?? or led zeppelin?? their parents was in diapers when the last zeppelin album came out.. still, so sad theyre too lazy to go back in time, to when music was so much better...to when it was hip to love someone rather actin all stuck up and arrogant.

@ikay1966 Not really, Paul and John were about split even and George had a few here and there... unless you were referring to another commenter who had mixed up John and Paul, in which case, yes, John was the lead singer on this particular song
This video should have been used on the anthology for this tune and not for Lady Madonna. The best original tune for Yellow Submarine but mysteriously left of the original film album. Great tune, the group working well togther perhaps for final time?
This was a song Lennon wrote in about twenty minutes because the Yellow Submarine album needed one more song to "fill it out". And yet it's about a billion times better than anything that comes out now. That's what you call talent, folks.
@3:20 is that a bass or a regular guitar that George is playing? Just wanted to know, thought he might have played bass on this song - but may be wrong?
@teakitfox Its a regular guitar, a 64' Gibson SG to be exact. The only time George can be seen playing bass is the Hey Jude performance on The David Frost show.
