  • This is currently my favorite Beatles song. And it's probably not even in their Top 50 most popular songs. That's how awesome they are.

  • QUIET OK QUIET

  • Love John Lennon's Laugh

  • Best Beatles ever.

  • I've always thought that Lennon > McCartney, but damn: McCartney + the hella bass line = Lennon

  • Eric Smith understands jack-knife in his sweaty hands.

Put your knife in your pocket, Jack

    Knife in your pocket

    Knife in your jacket pocket

    and lock it.

  • How is this a response to Obama Goes To Outer Space?

  • @agoose7 damn good question!

  • Comment removed

  • "Ruff."

    "What'd ya say?"

    "I said, 'ruff'."

    "You know any more?"

    "ARF ARF ARF!"

    "Aaaaah HA-HA!"

"That's it man, you got it! That's it! Whoo!"

"Don't look at me man, I only have TEN children!"

    "Hahahaha....hey buuulldooog..."

  • Paul's got the coke twitch

  • Exciting song! One of my favorites of The Beatles.

  • The sg George was using was later given to pete ham out of badfinger, Pete had until he died and recently been sold at auction. George give it to Pete when he Eric Clapton gave him "lucy" the red les paul

  • This was one of the tracks where George played a Gibson SG instead of the Gretsch he so often used (see around 1:05 into the video). It definitely added an edge and different tone to the tracks. I've always loved this recording. Thanks for posting!

  • this is probably the best beatles song ever

  • John Lennon has a really cute laugh :)

  • One of my favorite Beatles songs

  • @efhinson Right! The more obscure songs are often the best.

  • @MFPhoto1 OBSCURE? ...mmm not for 12 years now its top requested all over youtube and beyond ...you would know that if you ever read the description page here ...& its history. Cherrio!

    Cathytreks Productions Ltd.

  • I'm learning bass on Beatles

  • The Beales were the best! the proof is in this and 20 other songs.

  • @m2inla only 20?

  • john: big man

    ringo: yeah?

    xD

  • FUNKY BLACK CAT

  • This is absolutely priceless. Shows how thick the world is now. Cowell? Ga Ga? hHa! Dim.

  • ROCKIN the sideburns Johnny xx

  • the John's laugh at the end!!!! x3 it kills me AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Happy Birthday John! I love ya!

  • I love how john says in the end:" do you know anymore" XD

  • john lennon look a lot like ray manzarek here..

  • @respatiagungnugroho great comparison!! haha

  • @respatiagungnugroho Yeah, you're right !!!!

  • i love that paul and john are like, singing and goofing off and george is perfectly concentrated. <3

  • John and Paul together.... Shoulder to shoulder... am I dreaming?

  • Beatles were fucking genius. Timothy Leary claimed they were angels sent from heaven. Unsurpassed 40 years later. How did this happen. I don't know if they were divine but just listen endless greatness! Today's music is a plastic commodity. I'm glad to live in a world where there are Beatles.

  • Apparently the last song they recorded before the unpleasantness. Fitting that it's so brilliant.

  • @cathytreks Justin Bieber (B**t*rd!)

  • From what I remember, John wrote and directed this song toward the Yogi Maharishi who made an unwanted sexual advancement on one the ladies during the last venture there. Obviously John thought he was a hypocrite and came away with a very low oppinion of him.

  • @jhowardgators Amigo, you're talking about Sexy Sadie....that's a completely different song...

  • Fabulous.

  • And in 20-30 years from now NO ONE will remember JB..you

  • Man. John looked awesome with sideburns.

  • Did you know that JB has 10 million more likes in facebook than the beatles AND led zeppelin put together??

    :(

  • @sbpark95 And in 20-30 years NO ONE will remember JB

  • Comment removed

  • @sbpark95 that's how fucked up our generation is :/

  • @sbpark95 Don't worry. If you think about the demographic on FB and the people who are more likely to put likes on ect and the fact that Zepp and The Beatles did what they did and are still commercially competitive way after their hay days, it puts things more into perspective :)

  • @sbpark95 Who the fuck is JB?? and who cares!!

  • @sbpark95 well, i hate to say, really, i do, but it makes sense...i mean, take your average teeny bopper bubble gum chewer today--you think their hip to the beatles?? or led zeppelin?? their parents was in diapers when the last zeppelin album came out.. still, so sad theyre too lazy to go back in time, to when music was so much better...to when it was hip to love someone rather actin all stuck up and arrogant.

  • Well there's no doubt this one of The Beatles' "coolest" songs. Awesome riff...or should I say "ruff".

And yeah, Paul is considered as one of the great bass players of the last 40 years.

  • i could blaze to this awesome song all day!

  • i wish i could grow some medical for them, and its the best song i have ever heard

  • Awesome bass guitar from Paul.

  • It does say something when one of your more obscure songs would be a top hit for your average band. You can talk to me you can talk to me you can talk to me If you're lonely you can talk to me.

  • @thepatient08 hardly obscure to anyone who knows the Beatles .

  • Respond to this video... what do you say....do you know anymore... ahaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!

  • I think that's the catchiest song I've eer heard

  • at 2:51 george is like "what are they doing?"

  • music<3

  • Am I the only one that was excited to see George on an SG??

  • @AdamINAmsterdam Definitely not the only one :)

  • Hahahah this song was supposed to be called bullfrog but then in the middle of rehersing for recording John Lennon started barking so they called it hey bulldog

  • @Eldunari100 It was actually Paul McCartney who started to bark and he even said that John Lennon encouraged him when he started to bark.

  • If there is a God i'm listening to them.

  • How good does a band have to be for this to be one of their least known songs?

  • i played this song live and 6 string slingers rock

  • Its very epic to see Paul and John singing side by side like that. Legends.

  • @kyje1808 doesn't get better than the two best voices together on one mic when they easily could afford two

  • dont look at me man i only have ten children!

  • @amyrosefan926 I only have 15, Whatta ya say?

    I say: Ruff !!! ;)

  • @ACoughingBear Really!? No kidding you say!.... are you serious!?!? Golly gee whiz Never woulda known if you hadn't told me....crikey why your so smart I'm writing you in on the next Election ballot for the Prime Minister mate! We need stacks more like you as your fair dinkum and aright good bonzer bloke!! ;)

  • i see lennon goin with the manzarek look lol

  • Whatta ya say?

    I say: Ruff !!!

  • Wow ONE dislike?! Really!?

  • lol the barking adds alot to this song;)

  • Best sideburns ever. Lennon the great.

  • Falar o q de Beatles ?? Gods ..forever ..

  • John: Big man!

    RIngo: Yeah.

  • The bass line in this song is sick. Paul kills it.

  • @natsmom24 sick? he nailed it babe,

  • @cathytreks Yeah, sick as in "good". :)

  • @natsmom24 LOL see we Kiwi's we just talk funny , your fair dinkum! thanks for the comments! :)

  • @cathytreks LOL, I figured it was probably lost in translation. And no problem on the comment...... :) I love the Beatles. I'll be seeing Paul next Thursday live. I'm super excited! :)

  • @cathytreks Yeah he's always been a great (and hot) bass player

  • @natsmom24 Macca is the best...Ever

  • truly this song is one of the great musical achievements of the lennon/mccartney partnershift (although it is primaly a lennon song)

  • haha george is so pissed

  • ha i love how they pass george the guitar like six times haha

  • Does anyone know what guitar George used in this viedo? :)

  • @Ammlott It's a Gibson SG

  • @mrJimCharles Great, thanks :)

  • OMG best band of all time <3 ;D

  • What a gem.

  • Such an unorganized guitar solo, but great song

  • john's sideburn beard scares me

  • They're just four working class white boys from Liverpool. It's a miracle, what they pulled off. I love them to death.

  • Haha I love when John and Paul are spazzing out George is calmly playing his guitar and he gives them a look at 2:52

  • the bass is so melodic, paul's style

  • my right earphone is vibrating wildly due to the bass of the song and im addicted already

  • no need to say the beatles are wild on drugs mad or anything else because they are the most addicting drugs ever found in the universe awruuuuuu........ and it makes us wild harharharharha

  • the bass is awesome!

  • My favorite beatles song. for now... JACK KNIVE!

  • Love John's side burns. EPIC.

  • When paul starts to bark at 2:10 it is sooo awesome,i wis hi were born in the 60's.

  • lol It's so cool that Hey Bulldog and Lady Madonna are the same video :)

  • @AnAverageBox @AnAverageBox LOL no but they REALLY arent though... are they?, that is if you now are one of the wise ones who now know the true history of this footage since this video was first ever aired/broadcast in 1999 and that in fact Lady Madonna has nothing to do with its true origin whatsoever.

The song and film is entirely of the recording sessions for "Hey Bulldog". as we ...the wise ones know.. now isn't that just wonderful. (I'm only sleeping) (:O

  • @cathytreks lol it's true. The Beatles had to make a promotional video for Lady Madonna and being the smarty pants people they are, they edited the video of Hey Bulldog to look like a recording session of Lady Madonna but they are in fact the same footage. Cool huh?

  • @cathytreks It doesn't make you wise to know this, That's just obvious, It has literally nothing to do with wisdom lol and you sound the exact opposite of wise when you refer to yourself and people who know the most obvious facts about The Beatles "wise ones"

  • i am the 300th person to like this.

  • It sounds demonic at the end

  • Probably my favourite Beatles track. Great bass line and guiatr work; the lads are just having fun making it, before things got serious and things started to implode. Where else can you hear John Lennon & Paul McCartney barking and howling?

  • I love that song!!! :D

  • RIP JOHN LENNON, RIP GEORGE HARRISON, HAPPY 69TH BIRTHDAY TODAY PAUL MCCARTNEY, and RICHARD STARKEY (RINGO STARR)...well its nice to have you with us still :) Cheers \m/

  • 2:51 haha george is like "what the hell are they doing?..."

  • @cptXmunch Hahaha. Him and Ringo seem to be the ones who are actually taking the recording seriously. RIP George

  • Fuck that ONE Bielber who disliked this!

  • cool just like TAXMAN

  • First, I wanted to listen to this song watching some photos...

So, I went on youtube, and finally, I listened to "Hey Bulldog" and I watched the clip... I couldn't do anything else, Beatles are trully amazing !

  • Epic, epic song! :D

Love George at 2:52 when he looks at them like "wtf are you doing?"

still brilliant, these guys were amazing!

  • I love how they go nuts at the end :)

  • Look at Video Responses under Top comments. "This video is a response to Obama Goes To Outer Space".

  • What comes in as close second as rock duet to this? Heard Alice and Donovan "Billion Dollar Babies" was the first outside collab. This is a high watermark, and still the best,in my opinion.

  • The Beatles pulled this together in 5 minutes to make their song choice more complete, and it's still better than that crap Beiber puts out.

  • Wow, this video did not debut until 1999 on tv why so long ???

    Sophia

  • fabulous, great great song!

  • I love this song.! did you see paul in his music concentrated state. he looked cute :D he is the only man who can rock sweater vest.!!

  • Amazing song!!!!...Just love that last guitar riff that closes @ 2:13

  • john is the lead singer you dumbo!!!

  • @ikay1966 Not really, Paul and John were about split even and George had a few here and there... unless you were referring to another commenter who had mixed up John and Paul, in which case, yes, John was the lead singer on this particular song

  • What a gem :D

  • Don't look at me man, I only have ten children!

  • @gmenrule1024 I cannot find the part where he says that!

  • Definitely my favorite Beatles song.

  • is george getting coffee? 2:07

  • Favorite Beatles moment ever. Favorite Beatles song too!

  • I'm sorry Paul but John should have been the lead singer mate.

  • This video should have been used on the anthology for this tune and not for Lady Madonna. The best original tune for Yellow Submarine but mysteriously left of the original film album. Great tune, the group working well togther perhaps for final time?

  • @ 2:07 is that george getting coffee!? :P

  • i just discovered this song a couple of weeks ago... and i just cannot stop listening to this song! its great!

  • Who the hell disliked this?

  • 2:50-2:57 Greatest laugh

  • If glee would ever do this song i would shoot someone

  • This is a beauty. :D

  • Love this song!

  • Anyone who dislikes this song must be very lonely

  • I saw a little interview on the yellow submarine album and Paul said that this was his favorite song on the album. I agree with him 100% :)

  • Gee, JUST a bit ahead of their time eh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    John's enunciation is fabulous.

    STILL the best band ever.

    This was 1970 folks!!!!

  • This was a song Lennon wrote in about twenty minutes because the Yellow Submarine album needed one more song to "fill it out". And yet it's about a billion times better than anything that comes out now. That's what you call talent, folks.

  • i think the beatles were so happy doing this track, thanks for posting.

  • You can talk to me! Great vid! Thanks for sharing Rob! Seeing them so young and happy is wonderful!

  • i was the 100 like on this video

  • @3:20 is that a bass or a regular guitar that George is playing? Just wanted to know, thought he might have played bass on this song - but may be wrong?

  • @teakitfox Its a regular guitar, a 64' Gibson SG to be exact. The only time George can be seen playing bass is the Hey Jude performance on The David Frost show. A rare Fender 6 string bass.... to be exact. Sorry more info than you probably wanted : ) BTW that is Paul playing the crazy bass line on this song

  • i love this song. thanks for posting, cathy. the beatles were a once in a 1000 years talent.

  • Learning the chords for this was the second best thing I ever did in my life.

  • that bass line is fucking killer

  • two things george is just playing and watching them sing and ringo shaved his mostache in late 60's which is werid to me

  • If there's anything almost as interesting as a Beatles song, it's the story behind it: like how for this particular song it was originally called Hey Bullfrog until Paul McCartney started making dog noises in the recording studio XD

  • one of the beatles songs that should have done so much better in terms of their classics

  • always a piercing quality to John's voice

  • Not many men can look cool in a tank top

  • I like johns evil laugh at the end :D

  • The Beatles

  • though george is credited with the guitar solo...

i would swear that paul played the guitar solo...because...its similiar to his bass playing style...

i've always loved this overlooked little gem...george harrison tells how when his son dani was a little boy he asked george to show him how to play the hey bulldog riff...george was surprised dani even knew the song then realized it was on the yellow submarine soundtrack...

  • QUIET BOY, QUIET! OKAY? QUIET!!!

  • 2:34 to the end is just the best... hahaha

especially John's maniacal laugh at 2:57!!

John and Paul look like they're having so much fun :)

  • The 'band' performed this on "The White Album" tour here in 2009 as part of the 3 song encore at Sydney State Theatre. It has always been one of my personal fave Beatle songs and it really did rock beng played by the cream of Australian contemporary musicians.

  • I've loved this song for years and never hear it on the radio. Thanks cathytreks & You Tube ... oh, did I forget to thank John Lennon?

  • I love how George just stands there looking like a badass while Paul and John freaks out

  • That must have been so much fun to sing. I would live to sing that for a talent show or something because you would have to bark. I really like the part at the end when they're talking to eachother. That is such a great and funny song! I love it! Paul is my favorite beatle and I think he is and was so cute!

  • @mimpdog i'm going to do this song for a talent show, now! :)

  • Groovy Baby!!!

  • incredibly cool. thanks for posting!

  • I've read this was one of the last recordings without all of the bickering and arguing. Pretty cool that there's film of it.

  • Good comment. I've read that as well. And simply be pure coincidence...the "Hey Bulldog" session was the last Beatles recording session in which John Lennon was present and Yoko Ono was NOT.
