I'm looking around for a stabilizer eyeing out the Glidecam which one would you recommend my setup is a NIkon d7000 , nikon 24-70mm, and nikon 14-24mm ultra wide both of this lenses are heavy . looking at the HD4000 or would that be to big for my setup
@Rockadell The HD4000 is too big for the camera itself. It should only be used for heavy setups like camera + lens + light + microphone, etc. Instead you should be looking at the HD1000 or HD2000.
@0munkey0 Of course, but then you wouldn't be looking at a Steadicam Merlin. You'll need a heavier Steadicam setup with an electronic (if not wireless) follow focus system.
@moedem Cheaper yes. Good results yes. But it won't fly this camera or lens combination. The hague can't handle much weight and the hague handle has limited mobility.
This thing is pretty damn expensive, I've been using the Cam Caddie SCorpion with great success and it only cost $38. I can also attach lights and mics to my Cam Caddie.
@avonsworld Cam Caddie isn't even a Steadicam its a fricken handle how the hell would you run with that? These things are expensive for a reason because they work.
I have the good old Steadicam JRE you also showed in the past but to get it balanced well takes sometime. Even more important is to learn how to fly this thing. Takes some time...... Thanks for this video.
@ONIProductionsLtd Borrowlenses dom com will let you rent steadicams/lenses for pretty cheap. Just make sure that you rent a lens or two because you have to pay for shipping. You get a better deal that way.
my merlin hangs too much to the right. i tried so many different changes & can't get it to alter :(

That outfit would make any Marine proud.
I'm working on a DIY stabilizer my self & then maybe moving up to a Merlin if I can afford it.

LOL at the resume, "pretty expensive, but some people like expensive things, i guess"
For a pro-grade cam stabilizer this is quite cheap, I would say

$800 is so insanely ridiculous for s fucking stablizer. like $250 should be more than profitable for this.

how do you focus ? without disturbing the image ?
guymhahn 6 months ago
@guymhahn Set the lens so that everything is in focus. Change aperture to something like F/5.6-F/8
MrCheesyCam 6 months ago
@MrCheesyCam sometimes you want a nice depth of felid and having everything in focus is undesirable.
