DJ's from WBLS (107.5 FM) and Road Block Radio hosted. Mister Cee of Hot 97 provided music.

Mister Cee produced Notorious B.I.G.'s first album. Mister Cee, of Hot 97, is currently hot in New York City. (April 2011)

  • You want some of the smokiness but there is too much white light casting on the rear left.

  • Around 1:46 ". . . a song like 'Boom Bye Bye,' I like that so much. I could never re-do it. It will last a million years!"

  • @jtubebx1 he says "even if i never sing another song like boom boom bye, that one hurt them so much (referring to homosexuals) that i could never redo it. Its going to last a million years

  • @gtsound12

The important thing is that Buju wants to claim that he has "moved on." This performance, but also many other actions and statements, show that he has not.

Even though he stopped performing "Boom Bye Bye" in 2004, under pressure from Amnesty International and other groups, he sings a line from the song, hums the song, or has the audience sing it, so he can say he doesn't perform it anymore.

Buju has not "moved on" and is as homophobic as he ever was.

  • @jtubebx1 you hafi be a battybwoyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy boom by by inna yuh blood skirt.......... fyah bun batty bwoy and lesbians

  • I think its funny how people speaking out about their gayness or advocating homosexuality in any way, shape, or form are ridiculing someone for being against it. how is it one person has more relevance or strength with their words as opposed to the other view? Buju is as much anti gay as gay advocates are pro gay. this is a battle that will never end, as long as there are two ends of the spectrum you will have disagreement. just freakin live with it.

  • @tokentreez "I think its funny how people speaking out about their gayness or advocating homosexuality in any way, shape, or form are ridiculing someone for being against it. how is it one person has more relevance or strength with their words as opposed to the other view?"

You realize, don't you, that Buju is urging vigilante killing of gays, which is lynching of gays, in "Boom Bye Bye?" Earlier versions of "Boom Bye Bye" actually have the words "murder batty bwoy" in them.

  • @jtubebx1 umm i guess i should have also noted that not only am i a born and grown jamaican, but i also started my sound career (makka tree sound bx/bk) right around when this song was prevalent in the music scene. i have also come to know and work with quite a few gay men and women during my life since then. to date i have never killed a battybwoy or turned gay. what i am trying to say is whether buju says kill batty man or the gays say embrace gayness i am responsible for my choice not buju

  • @tokentreez ". . . to date i have never killed a battybwoy or turned gay."

Well, that's good, I guess. Especially that you have never killed any gay people. Hopefully, you haven't killed anyone else, either.

Not everyone can become gay, unless you think that being gay is a "choice." Generally is is hard to be gay unless you are sexually attracted to other consenting adult males.

There's a new article online about homophobia in Jamaica. Search for GUERNICA MAGAZINE MURDER MUSIC

  • Love you Buju.

  • free buju free buju noooo batty guys roun here lightening, fire n thunder bombo clawt

  • Buju Banton, since 1988: No "growth." Hasn't "moved on" from "Boom Bye Bye."

  • @jtubebx1 no gay guy

  • @fop221 "no gay guy"

By "gay guy" do you mean Buju Banton?

  • @jtubebx1 , no he is talking about you.

  • Mark Myrie, aka "Buju Banton," is still controversial and the song "Boom Bye Bye" is still controversial, because he has never been able to distance himself from the song, which calls for gays to be killed.

Over all these 22+ years since he wrote "Boom Bye Bye," he has either sung the song, or after he stopped singing "Boom Bye Bye," in 2004, he started doing the anti gay routine shown in this video.

All the evidence shows that he is still as homophobic now as he was in 1988.

  • all u gay guys read the bible to see that god will not give u any way to his haven.u must stop ,all gay activity before u enter okaaaayyyyy !!!!!!!!!!

  • Being gay is not wrong, and speaking out against gay is not wrong. We all are entitled to speak and have our opinion. Hopefully we will all rise above hateful actions, but don't get confused, the universe allows all this to happen within it. Blessed Be, Praises to all god, and JAH. Living God Is A LIVING MAN!!

  • @RedLoveLife yes it"s, read ur bible

  • fuckery talk dat wi burn sodom

  • @RedLoveLife "Being gay is not wrong, and speaking out against gay is not wrong."

But what about promoting hatred against LGBT people, advocating violence against LGBT people and calling for the murder and lynching of LGBT people?

  • Free Gargamel dem orginal DJ,I mon bless,Free Gargamel All Praise To Dem Mon Call Gargamel Mi Luv Ya Stel zeen....

  • you say gays made buju buy 7 kilo cocaine? i dont think so..

  • IF he did conspire to buy the cocaine they didn't make him. AS much as I love him I won't say that ever!!! to be gay is a sin but we have no heaven or hell to put then in. Leave them to God.

  • All Hail The KING!

  • A gay activist was hacked to death and at the crime scene people in the public danced around singing boom bye bye. Buju Banton i could imagine loved every moment. He's music some of love and some of HATE!!!

  • buju banton is entitled to speak his views as much as peter tatchell.if u can speak out in favour of homosexuality then u can speak out against it.

  • battyman try to destroy this man.

Shout out to all the other country's that kill for batty biznizz.

  • he doesn't condone violence aganist anyone please don't spread hate.

  • It's too late. Buju could have been bigger than he is now. And homosexuals tried and succesfully destroyed this man over something that the lord GOD himself doesn't agree with. Now you expect him to turn the other cheek like its all good.

    FUCK OFF and die.

  • Really no need to be negative. Reggae music is not about hate.

Buju is where Jah wants him to be in his career. you just want to spread hate. He did a song. but he doesnt advocate death and violence please listen to his words instead of speaking out of your butt. we know the lifestyle is wrong but you have no heaven or hell to put anyone in so just keep the hate to yourself!

  • The lyrics in Boom Bye Bye speak clearly of shooting homosexuals in the head. If thats not condoning or advocating violence I dont know what is.

  • That man is 36 and he was around 17 when he made the songl give it a rest!!! He don't sing it at any shows. Man can't let nothing go.

  • And thats why he's been quoted recently saying "There is no end to the war between me and faggots.".

  • @DA1UNV37 "That man is 36 and he was around 17 when he made the song!"

He's 37 now (2010). He wrote and first performed "Boom Bye Bye" in 1988, 22+ years ago.

The song was released in the U.S. in 1992. It was immediately controversial. After being dropped from the WOMAD tour in 1992, Buju apologized. Then he immediately retracted his apology. He continued singing "Boom Bye Bye" until 2004.

This video shows a new anti gay routine Buju started performing after signing an RCA form.

  • I Love you Buju!! Don't stop being you!!

  • i love most of buju's music, but he's gotta cool it down some with the homophobia.
