  • Nice playing, and it's really "swell" that that your building it from scratch. I'd be interested in knowing where the console came from?

  • @deancook652 The console came from the Sheboygan Theatre up in Sheboygan Wisconsin. Most of the organ is Wurlitzer.

  • That was real sweet!...thanks for playing for me!~ haha

  • @nynynyny44 Thank you :)

  • for what it is and whats able to play it sounds really great. That organ will be a gem. The trem on the acomp is really harsh... but sounds good.

  • @Marshall7302 Thanks for your nice comment and observation. The organ has a ways to go and the trems will need to be fine tuned. It is presently down because I have been mostly occupied with building my electronics work room and ham radio corner. I will soo have the instrument back in operation. Gary

  • This is great, the fact that you built your own organ is amazing! I love this song so much too , and I don't have a recording of it. Besides youtube, the only other time I hear it is when I'm watching "The Long, Long Trailer" Thanks for posting!

  • Very nice, thank you for sharing!

  • Congratulations! this is sounding superb. The trems. seem to be set up just right. Can I ask what ranks are operative and whether there is more work to do?

  • The reanks playing when I recorded this pice was the Diapason, Violin, Tibia and vox. I have a four rank solo chest with Tuba, VDO II, and clarinet but someone leathered the pallets with the wrong kind of leather so I have to re-leather the pallets.

  • Lovely organ..just goes to prove that small can be beautiful...nice playing too..thanks

  • Wonderful! The spirit of Jimmy Smith lives on. Thanks for posting that.

  • i wish we were close by we could have some fun but i live in the uk keep the good work up, may be we could be pen friends i have played for 20 years

    all the best mate phil

  • hi a great tune again you are good, how long have you been playing, i play a gx3 keep up the good work

  • Hi and thank you. I have been playing for about 50 years.

  • Beautiful. Congrats on your home REAL organ.

  • Thanks so much Don. GK

  • Finally watched your Wurlitzer videos and the idea of having your own theatre pipe organ has got to be a blessing. Bet your neighbors don't have one of these! Great songs and great to see the preservation of an American classic. Regards, Jim

  • Such fun you must have! Every time I see you, you are at a different machine. That's the right attitude.

You play with bounce and enthusiasm. Thanks for playing so well and thanks for sharing.

  • And thank you. I have several instruments at home that I play. I have the Gulbransen Rialto II but it is in need of repairs and I have parts on order for it. I have a Hammond model A from 1936, a Hammond S-6 chord organ, a Lowrey GX361 synthesizer, my Wurltizer pipe organ project and last but not least a Wurlitzer Chemnitzer concertina that I also play from time to time. It all keeps me busy through the winter.

  • That is a top-notch instrument, and as is the playing!

  • That's got to be some of the heaviest tremulant I've ever heard! Beautiful playing, sir. Sweet and rich, a textbook example of theatre pipe organ. Five stars and added to favorites, do hope to hear more!

  • Always loved that song, you do it very well! What's this about a home built Wurlitzer? Please give us a behind the scenes tour. This is every organists dream! Do you still have the Gulbransen?

  • I built it from orphaned parts that I bought here and there. Most of the parts and half of the ranks are Wurlitzer. I have planed to do a slideshow video of the organ with a background tune of my playing "Virtual TPO" using Miditzer on my Lowrey GX361. I still have the Gulbransen although it needs some technical help again. I have plans to post another tune using the Gulbransen and one using my 1936 Hammond A but I had loaned the A out and now one or both of the speakers in the ER-20 sound bad.

  • First off, beautiful sound and second, Ron's an amazing organist himself... I need to get my knee surgery over with and back home with the Tennessee's Wurlitzer. Btw, great job and I want one too..

  • Thanks! With all the work and money involved in building this organ I sometimes wonder about the wisdom of my decision to build it. I have heard Ron's playing many times at the Organ Piper where he plays at and always enjoy hearing his arrangements.

  • Do I hear Diapason trebles at the top end of the Tibia?

  • Ron a good organist always has a good ear. Yes that is what they are. I didn't get the original trebles when I bought the tibia. I have my sights set on another tibia if and when one comes my way. I would like to get a Wurlitzer tibia.

  • Ron; I was in the chamber looking at the tibia trebles. It is actually only the 4' extension 62-73 that look to be diapason pipes. From 50-61 they are large scale flute trebles but are no doubt overblowing. I should close up the toes. I am looking for a Wurlitzer tibia (or at least a better one than I have) to replace the tibia I have. I still have the problematic 4 rank solo chest to fix so I'll have to live with the tibia I have right now.

  • Keep 'em comin!! I agree with klavier1us- it'll

get gooder and gooder!! If I had the space for

what you're doing I'd be doin' the same!! Good

    luck and best regards!

  • I am classically trained and cannot play like this at all. This is sweet music that gets a 5!

  • Mighty nice, mostly Mighty Wurlitzer. Hope to hear another post when the chests are full, the leatherin's done and the trems are a hummin'. Tibia & Posthorn!

  • To be commended. None of this comes easy. Building and playing organs. Congratulations!!

  • Great job! If you recall, what was the upper setting you used at 1:07?? Thanks.

  • Thanks to everyone for the kind comments. I think the setting you are referring to is tibia at 16' and 4'.

  • Excellent. I love that TPO. More, please! 5 stars!
