Have you actually done any measuring of the airflow on the fans? Because in Bit-Tech's big 120mm fan roundup, the Silent Sings beats the noctua. According to their tests, the Noctua NF-P12 delivers 34cfm at 32.8 dBA, while the Be Quiet SW delivers 47cfm at 27dBA. Both at full 12v speeds. So just out of curiosity, how did you make out that the noctua was better? :)
Keep saving, ATI 5800 prices are sure to drop when Fermi finally goes on sale. Your Phenom II X3 should keep you going for a while though, could always wait till 2011 for AMD Bulldozer and Intel Sandy Bridge. If i was patient i would've done that lol :)
I buy from ebuyer and overclockers uk, they tend to have the best prices and support. ebuyer mostly though :)
right i tend to use ebuyer too, scan seems to be pricey these days
overclockers uk is a hit and miss with me a lot of people i know call it over-gangsters but i dont think its that bad a site ive had a few gems in their sales before
i will wait at least until fermi is out really wanted to go back to ATi as i have a crossfire board but £300 is far to much for a card, i paid £160 a few months after launch for the gtx260
OCUK have been pretty good to me so far, got the Dell monitor, 5850, 4850 and some accessories from them. I've heard mixed things about them too, but no issues so far :)
GTX 480 and 470 will be priced higher, at least initially, so 5800 cards should drop a fair bit. I'm bias towards ATI on this one, but i don't see the appeal of Fermi since it's gonna be a hot, inefficient, power whore. IMO it's playing out like 2900 did for ATI :)
You really don't need to worry about hard drive temp too much, a case with decent airflow will keep the drive cool. Don't need those hard drive fans, waste of time to be honest :)
50c to 80c is very hot though, not good for your drive :)
The U12P single fan kit was £45, the extra fan £10 :)
Corsair H50's are usually around £60 here, but that's with a single fan and mounts for only one fan. To get good performance from a H50 you need pretty high air flow, so to keep it quiet and keep the airflow up i would've needed two fans putting the cost around £70 to £75. It's a great cooler but the extra cost for little extra cooling performance put me off :)
Do you still have this Rig or have you upgraded since?

@FubuMushu I've upgraded since, check my more recent videos :)

@phukkitt This is just the impression i got from messing around with the fans :D
No scientific testing methods here, just sticking my hand in front and messing around with the LNA and ULNA adapters :)

wish i could afford new hardware, mines not bad but a 5850 would be tasty, the c3 stepping is great too less voltage thus less heat!
good video enjoyed it
my graphics card isnt silent either the pc sounds like a turbine i can hear it in the hall if i have my door open ROFL!
where do you get your hardware i tend to shop around ebuyer, aria, novatech tons of other places too

Is the hard drive just put in the bottom of the case or is a mounting bracket used?
Doesnt the hard drive get hot down there?
blocparty121 2 years ago
@blocparty121 It's mounted in one of the external 3.5" bays. It doesn't run hot, between 25c and 34c :)

Why do ppl care about the hard drive temps??
In my old pc the temp on the hard drive was 50 - 80 C ^^

nice rig. I wish I had done some research and gotten a C3 (i have the C2 955BE)
AgentHydra 2 years ago
@AgentHydra
C2's are still awesome, the only big difference between C2 and C3 is power consumption really :)
What clocks can you get with your 965?
Aaronage1 2 years ago
I have the 955, i think the highest stable OC is maybe a little over 3.8Ghz

Nice update. I'm thinking of upgrading to an Asus EVO and that 5850 I've been longing for.
I see you chose the Noctua. With the extra fans and everything, did the price come close to an H50?

The U12P is still an excellent cooler. The clip on fans are somewhat unique
