Hi Jen, real question. I did this last night and drank some this morning after letting it cool. Its real strong, I choked up a little. But it tastes like very potent flat tonic water so I think its right. A few minutes later my stomach started turning and I've felt nauseous for an hour now. Hi Hun, I'm sorry that your mom is sick. If you follow the instructions on the video and have an adult help you, you can make this bronchitis tonic for her.  "simmer" means to let it barely boil, only until little bubbles come out, not big ones. Then let it cool with the lid on. Then have her sip it. Let me know if it helps. Good luck.

Jen knows what she is talking about. I tried the grapefruit rind recipe for bronchitis and it works wonders. The stuff at your pharmacy is crap compared to grapefruit rind (quinine) formula. This stuff is powerful and works fast. You need to put a little honey in it though. It is very bitter. God bless Jen for putting this recipe on here!

You mention that this remedy should not be used for at least an hour after a meal. But sometimes, heartburn starts only a few minutes after a meal. Is there any problem with taking a "regular" antacid (Tums, Mylanta, etc.) first, and then using the banking soda remedy later if the heartburn flares up again?

Most Tums, Mylanta, and others also contain calcium bicarbonate which is the main ingredient in baking soda. You can use it whenever, especially if you are producing too much acid. It just slows down digestion if you neutralize the acid in your stomach too early.
