You kept up well in my opinion considering the difference. I really like the look of the 250R. I'm taking my restricted licence here in the UK on the 19th October. That basically means I'm limited to 33BHP for 2years, so this is a perfect machine.

Do you think it's worth it? Would I be better getting something cheaper and waiting 2years out or getting this?

I plan on commuting 50miles round trip every day.

@potnoodles90 This is the best bike you're going to get that has under 33hp. You'd be find commuting on it because it is a upright seating position so it is more comfortable than any 600 super sports. 2 years is a long time to have a bike so you want to make sure you get something you will enjoy those full 2 years and this bike will definitely do that for you. This was my first bike and I got comfortable riding it after a solid 4 months or so and now I want to upgrade but it's still fun to ride.

@thiskory99 Except the new CBR250R. Fuel injection, ABS, MUCH better in my opinion, except for the looks. I'd give it a 9/10 overall and 8/10 for the Ninja. If only they'd move into the 2000s and give the Ninja fuel injection and a digital speedometer.

@thiskory99 thats my worry, if i get bored i'll have spent a lot out. Howevoer, being a 33bhp bike i can always sell it easily and it wont depreciate too much in theory. I've been riding a 125 for like 3 years now and am starting to get sick of the power. Im quite a heavy guy and when the winds blowing hard and im on a climb i just doddle at 30mph! Its embarassing. I'm guessing this bike would handl 60mph or so in those conditions though?

I got this wonderful bike as a first motorbike for my birthday this march, and believe me, if you get one, you will NEVER regret it... she's a 250 but she's almost as big as a 600.. great acceleration for such a "small" bike and very comfortable (and great noise with my LeoVince exhaust)... some day I will get a bigger Ninja, but until then, she will still make me feel like the luckiest guy on earth.. a great bike to learn how to ride ;)

@EUSEBIOCLAN certainly agree, it's a brilliant bike to introduce you to propper motorbike riding. learning to judge overtakes better rather than just rely on power which often causes over confident manouvers. Nice and light to wind round the country roads in the summer. Just a superb bike, i really do want one it's just a matter of raising the cash.

You can find many restriction packs around for around 100 quid if you need one.. anyway the 250r is a very good choice as a starter bike; i got it and had no real problems getting used to it within a month.

@makemefall i think im more incline to go for the 250. the only off putting thing is, a 600 bike can be picked up far cheaper. also, i get pulled up by the police around here every 5 minutes on my 125 asking where my L plates are. I told one officer i have my restricted licence. He then thought I had a provisional and tried to book me until i produced my pink licence. He then thought it entitled me to drive cars. I don't know what he was smoking.so a bigger bike would stop tht

@potnoodles90 I'm in the same position as you mate and the advice i've been given from multiple dealers, forums, other bikers etc is to get a 600 of your choice (with a carburator) for easy cheap restriction and restrict it to 33bhp, then after the 2 years you can take them out and have a big boy bike :D

youll be faster than 1000cc's on roads with alot of corners AND you can practise wheelies etc. impossible on a 250r.

@potnoodles90 have a look at the er-6f. It's a 650 but you can get it restricted for the 2 years, easy to ride, upright seating position. You'll definitely want to keep it for a good few years too

Yeah, I had a low-side into a guard rail last September and while I wasn't injured except for a bump on my knee, my bike was totaled (the seat frame was bent completely in half and a bunch of other damage). Actually the Audi R8's 0-60 is 3.6 seconds. And lets take for example a 2010 Honda CBR 600RR's approximate 0-60 is 3.2 seconds. The top speed of the Audi is nearly 200 and the CBR probably like 160-170ish. I would say that in acceleration if you had the right person driving a 600 could easily take that car. And a ZX-10R or 1000cc equivalent would not even be a challenge. I do not think anyone here can compare bikes unless you own one and not just a 250. I personally own a 600.

Only top speed would be a problem, but R8 is not that high performance... If you drive your bike full throttle near rev limit and fast shift it will smoke that audi... You have my word on it..
