No, it's true. It's not derogatory to MJ at all. It's not saying he didn't want to do it or that he couldn't be bothered, it's saying that he needed to get changed, have some water, and get all his equipment ready for the next song. It's a FACT. The rehearsals for the HIStory Tour are on YouTube and they show you the double. Don't thumbs down this comment because it's TRUE. I am an MJ Fan, I have all his albums. It's for technical reasons that he couldn't do the werewolf part.

Because that wasn't his hand. It's really complicated, so I'll try to explain it as best I can. MJ goes down the trap door in the stage, and his head rests on the stage. A backup dancer then puts his hand on the stage, MJ's head is still on the stage. This makes the trick seem like it is really him, and makes you think it is really his hand. Then, he ducks under the stage and leaves to go get changed. In the meantime, the backup dancer goes on stage and pretends to be MJ in a werwolf mask.

No, he isn't singing live, he was suffering from laryngitis on the HIStory Tour, so unfortunately some of it was lip-synced. That doesn't take away from his incredible dancing, moves, and singing on the live parts.
