Lmao! Yea that's the only problem with feeding it roaches. If one gets away I would freak. Crickets and locusts are no big deal, but I just CANNOT touch a roach.
Nice video :) Your Jacksonii is very cool, I'm considering in buying one too, but can you please say what night temperatures you have in his terrarium ?
That is so cool. I have one and I could watch this all day LOL. I was looking to see if my chameleon could eat the Blaptica dubia. Looks like they can!!
Are you kidding. . . . I had no idea they'd eat cockroaches. Living on O'ahu, there's an abundence of them. . . and they would certainly be cheaper than watching them snarffle down 8 crickets that cost $4.00 for 30. I'm going to have to supplementing my Jackson's's diet with some FREE food.
sometimes i go to my backyard and grab lucusts and hoppers for my veiled and it seems he likes those better than the crickets i buy from pet stores, go figure
I feed my chameleon's Blaptica Dubia roaches... their not the household roaches... they're the orange spotted roaches. They're easier than crickets, no noise, and they don't smell.... they breed like crazy and they don't fly.
The cockroaches the guy feeds him are probably from his own breed or from an animal shop. They provide a lot of calcium and phosfor. I breed my own roaches and give them lot of diffrent stuff to eat so they are more healthy then crickets. Be weary thou the roaches You find in your housholds can be infested with virus bacteria parasites and other nasty stuff that can than infest your lizard or spider. So remember roaches are good stuff just buy them from a reliable source or breed them yourselfs!
@SachTard Mean breed Your own? Just buy a bunch of them than lock them up in a thight plastic bag with airholes (be carefull the little ones might get through a big enough airvent!) U can feed them anything (I used both scraps of ham and vegetebles and fruit) and provide some earth or a sponge for the larva. Always remember one thing breeding roaches is risky stuff. They can also cause alergic reactions. So in my personal opinion breed circkets instead. They are also relativly easy to breed/G it
I can't wait until I get my chameleon.
