america changes japanese games somtimes because of content. in the arcade version there was plenty of christian symbolism, but when it came to the U.S it was taken out.
Actually, I did the arcade version of Splatterhouse, it never got a Genesis port although the arcade version is far gorier and featured harder gameplay.
