This song is on Gears of War 3, when Dominic Santiago sacrifices himself to get his friends out of Mercy. The first time I saw that part, I literally cried. That, is true heroism at its greatest, not being a hero, being a friend, a savior, the sacrifice.

A lot of people don't realize that the original Tears for Fears song is not a slow and depressing sounding song. It is actually somewhat upbeat. I like this cover, it kept pretty true to the emotion behind the original. Gary Jules re-did it, and IMHO, took it a lot deeper than originally meant.

I have to say, I kind of liked the solo. Although I do see where people are coming from about it not fitting, but it kind of made me feel like I was spinning in a sad depression. I mean certain chords in there were a little too major for the solo but overall, I liked it.

@surrealshine Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the cover. He does a good job with the vocals and playing. However, the style of his keyboard solo did not fit the meaning and flow of the song. It's a song about loneliness, and he breaks into a jazzy swing solo. It's like putting an rock guitar solo in the middle of a gospel song; just doesn't fit the style.

@elephantmaster Ya man I am not trying to start a fight or anything, only merely curious because when I did it I knew it was a risk. I did it because when I was singing it for the first time, everything felt blurry and confusing to me, which is more what the song conjures to me (more than lonliness, although of course that too). That solo conveyed the emotion I felt while I played it. I have actually heard a very rock-style solo in a gospely song and that it was brilliant ;) Thanks for watching!

I realize everyone should interpret a song for how they feel it goes. i played jazz piano throughout high school as well. I feel you on turning songs inside out. I dont have any of my covers in video form. I noticed we actually play a lot of the same music and have similar voice ranges.

It was kind of like a burst of confidence or an attempt to break free from the loneliness that your talking about by making the music seem less depressing and more extroverted. @Irishspring1986 I respect your opinion, but I think Roscoe probably was able to feel the same emotion I was during that bridge. To me, it added to the growing tension that the song presented. So you saying "it doesn't really fit with the song", is a bit short sited, as maybe to some, as it does me, it fits very well. If it didn't sit right with you, I totally understand, I debated putting it in cause I wasn't sure if people would like it. Thanks for looking!

@surrealshine Well and thats the beauty of music. One opinion doesn't really make it right or wrong one way or another. I was basing my opinion on my experience in music and although I don't feel it fits as I have stated, I understand from an artists stand point that it is all about the emotion it invokes in you. It is a very nice piece that is being played but it seemed different from the overall theme in the song. Again its just an opinion :) I love the song overall. the cover is a great one
