Great video. I felt like I had a mentor watching over my shoulder as I worked on my brakes today. It took the better part of the day to get the front brakes on my 2005 Crown Vic but all in all very happy with the job and price! Thank you for the awesome video.
@catesg that was my plan , I actually tried to make the video so you could take a laptop out to the car , and follow the leader so to speak , thanks for the kind words , be sure to subscribe to both of my channels for other repair and maintenance videos channels are towrecker , and beltstowing
Boy i wish i could work on nice rust free cars, especially brake and suspension parts. I dont like that parking brake design Ford has, I think its goofy. I like using a Channel locks for pushing back the pistons on the calipers. Oh and i know some GM vehicles use loctite on the caliper bolts. The tool company you were thinking of is Lisle. Keep up the great videos!
Thanks Mater....now I feel better about doing my Mustang myself. Its been a few years since doing them and I was a bit foggy with a few items. Great video
Great instructional video, full credit for that., but an hour and twenty..?? Lmao. I actually use spray on copper grease for brake system grease and quiet functions, works real good in our climate, but hey, different strokes for different folks eh...??
I changed the discs on my truck after the pads worn down to the backing... Couldn't get the discs to move then had an idea, took a freshly boiled kettle and tipped the hot water over just the disc at about 3 o'clock so well away from everything else while turning disc slowly, heat from the water expanded the disc before it had a chance to heat up the hub and the disc came straight off!
I don't know much about working on vehicles, but i want to know everything about them, i'm saving up for my first car (can't wait) and i'm glad there's people like you that make video's about car Education! Thank you for Everything you Do! Great video!
Good on you for replacing that bearing set, We had a Tahoe That Did not make Road noise, we drove 1800 miles up north, and the Right hand side Failed. there was a ton of bearing missing and that sucker they are really proud of, 600 for the part and another 3 for the labor to install it. That was an ouch. Preventative is the best way to go to keep things Cheap...er...
I get pretty close to the same life out of my ceramic brakes but with my wife's suburban her's can only run the standard pads on it , the ceramics wound up sticking to the rotors for some strange reason. they work perfectly on my tahoe though had them on for over a year now. I spent $54.00 on mine and you know if you had a chevrolet you wouldn't have to have silencing shims lol you ever tried those cross drilled rotors? they do help disipate heat REALLY well but i always use ceramic pads
@towrecker odd really, i've gotten 3X that already out of my tahoe with the ceramics wonder if it's because the crown vic has the multi piston calipers on them instead of just the single piston like most cars or maybe they just grab more aggressively than most vehicles even with the antilock
sweet thanks for sharing ive tinkered and helped ages ago doing brakes but have the time im to lazy or its raining and il like you but with no over hang might do them on my diesel truck i bought a month back
