Actually, in Kemet this is not the case. In Kemet, the ankh is held by deities and by individuals who have joined the spirit world (i.e. joined the ancestors). It is not held by living high officials or initiates. The ankh is the symbol of *eternal life* and it is held by eternal powers and principles. Besides, the first-hand evidence is clear that deities holding the ankh are both seated and standing, and there are no rules that a deity/person has to be in the standing "vertical" position.

The reason why you see the "deities" or "high officials" with the Ankh symbols is because it is a universal African sign of an Nganga or initiated Master.
