yeah i totally agree, but this is different. more battlestar gallactica type...more survival. Yeah when you get the time give it a try. Im willing to give it a second chance in april when the second half of the season starts back. So far my favorite episodes is the 2hr Pilot, im just really wanting the action since thats what drew me into stargate...this show in my opinion lacks it a lot

for those who dont get the F-30 thing here it is:
F-301 was the first small space/inatmosphere fighter built form a salvaged Goa'Uld fighter (it almost killed O'neil and tealc) F-302 was same thing, but totaly human built, the one used now. F-303 was Prometheus. F-304 is the Deadlus, Appollo and Oddesey (and the russian and the one in one SGA episode called Pheonix) no F-305 yet.
The specs for Prometheus once stated that the ship had laser cannons as well as it's missile/rail gun armaments. I never saw them in use so I doubt that they had them.
As for teh lasers, you can't see them like those ST Phaser stuff. Simply because Lasers are fireing their energy into an tight beam that means you don't see them beam from teh side or so. If you actually manage to see an Laser beam then you will die because it's pointed on you. :P justa s example

This Prometheus looks so much different from the one on Star Trek Voyager. But I LOVE THEM BOTH!! (Except this one a little more because it gets destroyed and its so sad lol)

I mean the GREATEST strength of ANY starship is speed. No matter what, it's artifical and fairly fragile, it's greatest strength lay in it's shields and its speed and ability to manuver. Take those away, all the guns on the ship are worthless agaisnt an enemy who can move quickly.
@KarlfMjolnir, I have to disagree. The concept of speed as armour is nothing new. It was used at the turn of the 20th century by the Royal Navy when they built a whole class of new ships called battlecruisers. These were ships with battleship guns, but armoured like cruisers. They were the fastest capital ships but at the battle of Jutland they proved very vulnerable.
The concept is just as flawed when facing guided missiles and beam weapons as it was in WW1 facing 15in shells!
@Rarius I won't argue that it's not new. However, conversely, it's still possible to move fast enough you won't get hit. So simultaneously, it's useful.
You might want to read Jack Campbell's "Lost Fleet", with that arguement you're making, tho.
I actually have read all of the Lost Fleet and I do concur with Rarius with some minor reservations. Anyways, if you are into military sci fi, you should try Honorverse, its pretty nice as well... though Battlecruisers suffer in main fleet battles there aswell

The biggest ship that I can recall the Prometheus destroying was an Al'kesh, which is a pretty puny ship.
I liked the Prometheus too, don't get me wrong, but there's no way that it could easily take out a Ha'tak. Unless it had survived long enough to get the beam weapons, which it didn't.

Whats Destiny? The last i saw of stargate was when bal was doing time travel stuff. Rewriting history and such.

Instead of shooting at the satelite i would send the gliders down and destroy the bunker in Rand.
That way the satelite would never have gotten of the two final shots.

They had PEOPLE IN THE BUNKER.
They wanted to do it with 0% casualties.
Not to mention there were civillians over the bunker.

A) Daniel Jackson was in the bunker.
and
B) They didn't know that the satellite required instructions from the ground until they were in Caledonia.
Ships in Stargate are lost for such stupid reasons though. Both the Prometheus and the Korolev were lost because they just sat without manoeuvring.
At least they correct this in later episodes, especially in Atlantis.

For the first Hyperspace ship Earth designed, the X-303 is pretty cool (it can take out a Goa'uld Ha'tak easily). Stargate forever!
