  • Sucks

  • legit and fun

  • lollllllll i didnt know we can do that. but i dont even have a mixer lol. do they have that thing in virtual dj?

  • wow :D this really helped :D thank you

  • well u using control cables

  • What mixer is that guysss???

  • @djdeemaks Tascam X9. Thanks for watching.

  • @DJOmega80 How would ik what songs to mix? I mean i have around 500 but idk what i should mix

  • Wish my Mixer has the crossfader start.....

  • Great video, but a the title is misleading. I though you were going to mix without putting them at the same tempo. through scratching or something.

  • weiß jemand ob das stimmt das wenn der indicator beider player genau gleich laufen das die songs dann genau ge Beatmchet ist ?

  • what mixer is that?? i like it

  • hey bro i think you have some pretty good ideas and i was just wondering where i can get my hands on some nice music so i can Dj with nice simple beats. thank you :)

  • i liked this simply cuz of the songs u chosose to demostrate with!

  • God I hate all the shit talkers, this guys taking his time to help others out and all you people can do is whine...go elsewhere please!

  • Nice!!!

  • fair enough thats an ok mix but what do you do when you dont have a song thats got the line "put you hand up on my hip and dip"?

  • @Cattaz5 GOOD POINT!

  • Hes Teaching How To Get Creative And Make The People On The Dance Floor Stay Interested. When People Here Transitions Like That They Appreciate It And It Makes The Music Almost Sound Like You're Telling A Story, Maybe With 2 Better Songs Tho Lol.

  • But you still have to match the beat, otherwise the two singers would sing different lines. D:

  • but its fake with lame tunes.

  • I been djing for a long long time. This is so stupid. Are you going to play songs with that sample all night long. Learn how to beat match put away all the Dj toys. Seratos and all the rest of that stuff and learn how to beat match there is an amazing amount of satisfaction that comes with it.

  • @djp828 exactly.

as if people arent learning basics to beat matching from day 1.

  • that was f'n tight :)

  • do you have to use a serten turn table? to do this.

if anyone replys just reply in my in box plz

    thanks

  • what did you teach? this is funny but not funny.

  • how to suck dick vid coming soon!

  • r u serious?

  • Lol you took jonathan's line "practice and enjoy" good vid though.

  • thank you dude....im a rookie dj and ur vids help me out a lot

  • Finally is right

  • Could you please write the equipment that you are using in this video please?

  • @jshpro3: No, they are set at the same BPM not pitch. The pitch faders would need to be set exactly the same % to have the same pitch, and unless they were produced at the same BPM the timing would be off. Think of the pitch fader as speed control & this may help you with your confusion of terminology. Take a look back at the video & you should see the pitch faders are not set at the same "pitch". They differ to compensate for different BPM of the two songs, so they're "beatmatched".

  • this is dope what are the songs again

  • Those tracks ARE beat matched, WTF? Give you credit for being more creative than simply letting them play together, but you can't do what you did without prior beat matching.

  • @jekw1re Not really, he's just playing the other track from the start of the sample so the cutting sounds seamless. They are however set to the same pitch.

  • dude, this is a really weak example to teach up coming dj's to mix into another track without beat matching. people would catch that in a second in a club. it's completely different and off. just my opinion.

  • Thank You Man

  • lovin this mix! its Great!!!

  • I don't get the people who are bashing this vid. The mix itself is obviously of a fairly rough quality, yes, but that's not the point. The point is that he's putting on display a creative little tidbit that he found, encouraging others to look for similar transitions.

  • @HeadkickDJ I think first off the problem is those two tunes were already beat matched. Secondly if you aren't gonna beat mix, dont call it a mix.. its a "cut" not a mix. Thirdly using auto-cue like that, there's no real differrence than just pressing a sample button. Fourth, he's using two tracks that are essentially the same (at least on that bit).

In fact it wasn't creative at all. If he had named the video "Learn how to use auto-cue" he'd get better responces.

  • Hello, wanted to thank you for helping people out. Not sure if this question has been asked before over the years, but I'm getting the Technics1210 turntables and have been wondering if the vinyl option of DJing is lessening. I see you use CDJs/digital. When you have the time, could you please give me your professional opinion/advice on the +/- aspects of each & what would be more beneficial in the long run. Should I look into investing in CDJs in the future when I'm better? Thank you!

  • sucks

  • @folkmetalxx Sounds good as fuck to me

  • this is shit !

  • Do it better if you can.

  • the beats have to be close... otherwise youll have to cut the vocal you're bringing in too quickly or too late to switch it over right on the next beat of the original track

  • das stil beat matched

  • @FarTooLoud no its not, he used crossfader start so every time he slides the fader over it starts from the same piont

  • @mikeynitros

It is sort of beatmatched mate. Maybe not exactly, but very close.

  • i cant see how it would be, obviously it would sound better if the beats were close to the same bpm but it wouldnt be essential because they are not playing over one another.

am i making sense or is it me thats got the wrong end of the stick?

  • @mikeynitros

They have to be close more than 2-3% difference and it sounds confusing and offbeat. Try it with your gear and you'll see what I think.

Otherwise, can't see why not beatmatch the tunes before doing this as to find a very close beatmatch shouldn't take longer than 10 seconds. CDJs even better because you can actually see the tempo so no need to use headphones, bla-bla.

  • oh like tat.i learn something new thanks to u.god bless u..

  • Did you adjust the speeds on the players to match the songs up first. I noticed that CD player with Janet wasn't at 0+/- on the speed.

  • Dude sounds like Norm McDonald.....

  • how much this Mixing set..??

  • Alot.

  • Sorry I did thumbs down accidentaly.

  • i think this would work for smaller clubs but in my opinion a club with a big system it would sound sketchy

  • what for dj items u use??

  • Nice Video, but only with vinyl its hard to do that if you are an beginner. :D

  • dude...you cant be a beginner......you can only get better....!

  • good dj. his nose is always stuffed on blow though lol.

  • mix em together without matchin' funny I do it sometimes myself, it sends a message, mos def when the lyrics are alike.. actually i do it alot!! Nice lil' lesson.

  • Thank you,

    finally a dude,

who explains the stuff i need to know!!!

good job, im subscribing for sure!!!!

  • I'm glad you found it useful. If you ever have any other questions or would like to see a video on something, please do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for the sub.

  • also look up ellaskins and briansredd

    thay are also very helpful

  • thanks helpd alot

  • i love your vids thanks man

  • Thank you for taking the time to watch.

  • can u recommend any good equipment ?

  • Best advice I can give is to go to a local shop and try some gear out for yourself. There is so much good equipment out there, but it depends what you really want to do with it.

  • so I'm thinking about buying a set, but do I have to buy records always, or can i mix the songs off a cd, or ipod, im new with all of this..

  • You do not have to buy records. You can also mix with cds or using mp3's.

  • I found it helpful, thank you.

  • Pioneer CDJ 800 cd players

  • sick!!!

i am a begining dj and i did find this tip useful :)

  • I didn't hear the similarity =) jk

  • you truly are... the best DJ in the world.

  • Far from it, I just hope to share some tips that new DJs may find useful. Thanks for watching.

  • very good, i'm a dj to :) i'm portugues

  • that didn't really show alot. 2 tracks with the same lyrics. was never really going to be the tgoughest mix was it

  • that was pretty slick. i love this part of DJing... music put together with thought.

  • would have been better beatmatched

  • Genius...i want a mixer where it does that with cd decks...

  • try the numark 5000fx great mixer with faderstart and its cheap !

  • wtf o_O

  • I still dont understand.

If I try to do this with any two songs that have similar vocals I'd still have to get them the same tempo (aka beatmatched) in order to mix the vocals together.

Obviously you have adjusted the tempo on the janet jackson track (or...in otherwords, altered it in order to BEATMATCH it to the other track).

Therefore, the title of this video is incorrect. It's creative mixing (or in other words...VOCAL mixing) but it still needs to be beatmatched!

  • I agree with you that the 2 songs should still be fairly close in bpms when mixing/blending. I was trying to show that by using a short sample, there isn't enough time to hear that the beats will eventually drift. Every time you re-cue you bring the beats back together avoiding a trainwreck.

  • I would probably just re-cue by spinning the record back and playing the same sample. Nevertheless, you're correct you do have to have them in very similar or exact same tempos to do that.

  • Typically I would re-cue, but had to use the faderstart for this video since I was holding the camera with one hand.

  • This function is pretty neat, except it would only work for CDJs and a mixer with digital features.

  • Why? I have a Stanton RM-22 mixer (not digital, or even close) and a dual stanton CD player (very basic) that I would have no problem at all doing this on. What digital features are needed here? All that is really required is to be able to set a cue point, which can be done on a $150 dual CD player rack mount unit, and a crossfader.

  • The last post was in response to doubleUTT's comment that you would need CDJ's and a digital mixer.

  • wtf?

Tracks still need to be beatmatched.

You may be beatmatching the vocals, but it's still correcting tempo differences.

    Lame.

  • Thanks for your thoughts. The goal of the video is to give some tips for new DJs on how to creatively mix without beatmatching as the title reflects.

  • We can always tell the comments that come from users that aren't that bright. For some of us, we like a little variety. DJ Omega can certainly beatmatch, but he is showing other mixing possibilities as well.

  • nice video, good clear info... I use this same style of mixxing a lot more often then most of the people I dj with. It maybe similar lyrics, or a question and response type thing or even complementing sound effects. It's good to expand and have many tools to use.

  • Bon Matos Rien a Dire !

  • why the pitch was adjusted on the left cd player.

Don't that mean that you beatmatched?

  • THATS PRETTY RAD!

  • dame man wats dat feature wit da cross feature?? what mixer is dat?

  • The feature is called "crossfader start". It will start and stop a cd player that has that option by moving the crossfader off of the rail. The mixer is the Tascam X9, but a lot of mixers have this feature. Any other questions, just ask.

  • i think that sounds ugly without beatmatch..

    but good information

  • good stuff homie
