  • The most powerful force of change on the planet is a girl. I agree

  • LOL Feminists dream.

  • @InfragilisTerminatio shut the fuck up. you're the kind of person that keeps women behind. this isnt a feminist cause. its a logical, fair cause. you dont care at all that your own SISTER, or MOTHER, could have been one of this girls if she was born in a different country? this could be ANYONE. if you dont care, then dont waste your time watching the fucking video.

  • @honeybee6543 Hi honey, dont be such a DOLT. Feminism is itself a logical and fair cause, and this IS feminist. Do not be so ashamed of feminism, or of using that word- that would be TRULY SHAMEFUL. P.S. I male and a proud feminist. ;)

  • @InfragilisTerminatio your mother should have gotten an abortion. yeah, did you forget? a woman gave birth to you, you survive because of her.

  • CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

  • Excellent video. The most effective way of ending poverty and disease is the empowerment of women. Give them an education, give them microfinance, and give them the control over their birth cycle, and poverty will soon decline.

  • Why don't they invest in boys? Why I hear you ask? They are. What's happening? Nothing. Just more poverty. Just more stories of ABUSE and WAR. Girls aren't objects, they are human beings, who apparently don't have any say in these countries because they are considered not important. Their only job is to slave for a man. A man who thinks he is more important just because of his gender. Bull fucking shit.

  • your cause is noble, but i dont want to pay for this

  • @capetorial Well, that's great - because we don't want your money. We want your VOICE! The Girl Effect is a movement: it's social change in action. It’s about you using your voice, your talents, and your community to help girls help themselves—and, as a result, everybody else. The secret behind the Girl Effect is that it’s not one large campaign – it’s hundreds of thousands of small campaigns started by girl champions all over the world!

  • My dad always told me - he doesn't care why someone does something good...just that they do good. I think I agree with him. I don't care if Nike is doing this because they got caught in a scandal, its true they should be doing it anyways, but its being done now. It would be nice if corporations had souls and hearts, but it is a step in the right direction that governments and consumers are forcing them to change their behavior if not giving them morals.

  • The reason people complain that Nike made this is because right after people found out about the Child Labour Scandals..about a year after they created this foundation. No of course it does not make it any less good. But you just need to think about the reason WHY the foundation was created. To do honest good or to cover up what is really going on in 3rd world countries in those factories. That is all i am going to say.

  • @PeaceBeatles64 Hi there! The foundation was actually created in 2006.

  • wait.. hold up!

suddenly you see a video about how women are treated as none priority and then you start hating all the mens? come on..

you don't see men complaining when they have to do almost all the heavy/ hard work in this earth.

It's the men that loses their lives on the battlefield on any given war to bring about peace.

there is stress on both sides, Male and females.

  • @NateSlimStyle

    this isn't the 1800's.

I am a woman and i am just as strong if not stronger than the men around me. Why? because i have a house, family, education, and food. something those women don't.

Don't TRY to say men are doing the fighting and hard work when I work my ass off daily alongside men in a career that is male dominated. I know women fighting for your freedom so before you say another degrading thing towards women, I suggest you think about what you say. Show some compassion.

  • As a male I found this very moving and I truly feel inspired to offer support to relevant aid organisations regardless of who made the clip.

To the bro's in the comments who are actually having whinge and trolling with bitchy comments - grow some balls and give a damn about some one who isn't you.

  • that's really awesome, but unfortunately, its too difficult for people in third world countries to get through school, there's either a lack of schools or its just too expensive.....but i will try as much as i can to help

  • Sharing, Justice and Peace on a world scale will end injustice and inequality forever.

  • Better yet, let's kill all males.

  • @jarlragnar if you kill all males, then the world wil stop spinning. Women cant have babies and so when everyone dies, this world is gone. u might want to think about what ur saying

  • @M00NStar318

    Sarcasm, friend.

  • @M00NStar318 If you kill all females its the same thing. No women = No babies = World is fucked.

  • This is so true.

  • I'm really tired of the answer always being a girl, a girl gets miss treated, a girl should get more benefits

  • @tehnicholas1 You're not tired of the whole world being such a bitch to those girls, you're just tired of hearing that a girl is the answer... Great, what can I say!

  • @Malvinretch why do you believe they deserve it? so may I assume that you believe in the same principle when it comes to men?

  • Oh look, a statistic.

  • Seriously girleffect, you could've saved so much time by calling your youtube channel "peopleeffect" or just something like "TheEffect", then making videos about boys AND girls. Now you've got guys saying "This is sexist!" and girls replying "Ignorant man!" Literally. I saw that in the comments.

  • Its true. The most powerful force of CHANGE in WORLD is A GIRL. I know Girls who changed the way people live. Real GOOD Changes. And so, its true, Girls are THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE OF CHANGE! Its upto the rest of the world that includes older women to guide them. Respect! Also, Happy Women's Day!

  • I don't think this video is intending a sexist viewpoint.

"The most powerful force OF CHANGE in the world is a girl." They're not trying to say girls are better than boys. Women in these countries are traditionally the caregivers to the children. They teach them and basically lay the foundations for their future. So the women are the primary formers of future generations, because the men are supporting the family outside of the home. That's why they say girls are the force of change :)

  • this quite literally gave me chills.

  • The answer to your question, Kuriboh380, can be found in these words:

As long as women are prevented from attaining their highest possibilities, so long will men be unable to achieve the greatness which might be theirs.

    (‘Abdu'l-Bahá, Paris Talks, p. 133)

  • How can we help? Because I went to the website but there wasnt much info about the organization

  • @kuriboh380

That is because most girls in "third world" countries are viewed as "commodities" , not the men.

You must be living in a hole, if you can't see this.

  • @Yayme75 yes but this organization is not just focusing on stoping girls being viewed as commodities they are focusing on reduceing poverty. So why can't they help 12 year old boys asswell? In some countrys in africa the boys fight men half their age in gang wars useing automatic firearms. But go ahead and suport this sextist idea and F.Y.I. I do live in a hole

  • @kuriboh380 this is not sexist! concern for boys in proverty and girls in proverty is equal! The vid just happens focuses on what girls usually experience when in poverty! Thats why is called the GIRL EFFECT. Do you expect a organization that focuses on whales to focus on every other animal because its being unfair? There are a lot of organizations that focus on boys living in proverty at well.

  • @kuriboh380 The fact of the matter IS even in a poor family boys will have any/all chances given to them to advance. The facts point out that when women advance then their progeny advances as well. Mali has a 25% literacy rate. Cote d'Ivoire has a 50% literacy rate (a supposedly advanced & rich African country). What does that tell you??? If the man is Muslim or tribal he will take MANY wives and they remain in poverty.

  • @kuriboh380 If you'd like to email us, we'd love to share with you "why girls." It's not about helping only girls - it's about ending poverty. If we thought rubber bands could save the world, we would've created "the rubber band effect." We'd love to hear from you!

  • I see a girl Who is being paid to look sad in her native country.......

  • i think they pulled these statistics out of their bums.

  • Yeah, i see a girl, who can have the same dreams and ambitions as a man, who deserve the same chance as a man, who is equal to a man in every respect... and yeah, you aren't any different.

there is nothing wrong with the idea...

but saying one gender is greater than the other in anyway is sexist, sorry, by defenition.

  • @kuriboh380 yea ur right! Its true, these women just stay home and help in the kitchen while the guy does all the work to get a life started and get a family and so on! So this video is BS, and this organization is BS, why not create an organization that helps both male and female. But no your to good for that...

  • "reinvests". You mean, the father takis it away from her. Again, nice try. But just a try.

  • wow basically this vid is sayin boys are ruinin the world not entirely true on some parts yea on some parts womens fault

  • @XxXL3G3NDSXxX why were u watching this anyways? lol

  • Wait so why is this all focused on girls? Why not dudes?

  • this cause is really inspiring! i think i'll make something to support this cause (im not sure what i'l do yet...i stil have to think of that...) any suggestions on what i could do? i'll think of what i can do to support "the girl effect" rite now...

  • HOW DARE YOU,DARE ME!?!! YOU SHALL NOT WIN THIS DARE!!!

  • Truth: Female = Male

What 80% of men think: Male > Female

    Get it right.

  • @Epic4118 Wow, I'm part of a minority of men. Sad.

  • 26 iggnorant men saw this

  • @DahMooseOfNorway and your an ignorant teenage girl who does not know what the world has in store for her when she grows up!

  • @DahMooseOfNorway 28 now because of me and someone else

  • Very nice Vidio it berurt my heart, and now I know I'll work more for the poor people images this world love greetings Michele Angelo

  • Wow, I guess since ILO and UNICEF ordered importers to stop using child labor Nike decided young girls CAN do more than sew soccer balls.

  • reprted for sexism, it is just as bad as racism, or homophobia.

  • This video uses ninemillionorg footage!!

    Love the girl effect.

    It is brilliant.

    Well done.

  • the NIKE foundation is as good as any other when it aims to reach out to female population that is unheard..

  • Very powerful video with compelling message.

  • @Edvin1010 It was a friendly off-handed comment. I don't have time to think about everything that you may be implying within your text, and I certainly didn't have time to make my post any longer. However, since you chose to engage me (and with a lame, too-easily-offended tone I might add), I'll explain why I brought it up: the term "sustainable growth" is a political buzzword that sounds good, but is not realistic, and I think should be used cautiously. That's all man. Lets keep it mellow.

  • SUPER COOL ... THE BEST - I knew there was a reason I have always liked Nike shoes ... thumbs up up up

  • fantastic video. very powerful message. what is the song that enters at 0:50??

  • Nike takes advertising to an all new low...

  • Also:

    suite101.com/content/why-foreign-aid-has-failed-to-develop-africa-a105438

  • "Aid-supported scholarships have certainly helped send African girls to school (never mind that they won't be able to find a job in their own countries once they have graduated). This kind of aid can provide band-aid solutions to alleviate immediate suffering, but by its very nature cannot be the platform for long-term sustainable growth." Read the whole article:

    online.wsj.com/article/SB123758895999200083.html

  • @Edvin1010

the term sustainable growth is by definition an oxymoron. Its not possible. Everything must stop growing eventually.

  • @wavesareenergy

would you state he obvious the same way if I talked about sustainable growth of an infant? no, because everybody knows that eventually (at adult size) it will stop. so why do you have trouble understanding the same (ie sustainable growth ->obviously->"as long as it is necessary" OR "in a scalable way according to local circumstances" OR "as long as it reaches the optimum level") in economics context?

  • its the girls falt especially in america since they sell them selfs like that being used when they can walk away and choose not to.even though they want to.

  • i really think boys r superior to girls considering boys get bigger than most girls

i do respect widows they r very brave

  • @norxwax bigger doesn't mean smarter or kinder. LOL

  • @Yeeehawwwww get a life

  • Everybody is diffrent

Honsely most girls get discourages case they

    Are labeld as a girl

Girls suffer and sacrefice more then men say in the bible too, guys work hard too

We are two diffrent kind but with each other we aren't complete we should learn how kove and respect one another(:

  • I thought a nuke was the most powerful force to change a planet?

  • this video was awesome sauce!

  • some girls are the reason why men look at us as posters and objects ! they are satisfied with being just a decoration and use their look!

I really wish that all girls all over the world respect and value who they are.

  • @DrCOMPUT3R its not about the girl. If the girl is strong she might be able to change. But if the women in her family are not strong then that girl will be swayed to follow them. Its not about respect or value. Its about the ancestors. And what values those ancestors pass down. Women have been changing over the years, we have been fighting for equality. But in a world where there is less educated women, how will they know that they can make a difference, and not be a poster on the wall

  • " DARE TO SEE THIS GIRL " GIRL'S POWER ..

  • Fuck this im all depressed now!

  • @Drumking2112 LOL why what's so depressing about it ?

  • @Drumking2112

    Ignorance is bliss

  • I would like to see if women can make a healthy difference in politics worldwide. So far many women who have been in power have behaved similarly to men: Golda Meir, Indira Gandhi, Margaret Thatcher, etc. But, maybe it's because they were surrounded mostly by men. It's time to improve the balance and find out what they can really do by empowering women worldwide to make their best contributions. Support the Central Asia Institute and others. Go girls.

  • If you actually look at the words, it doesn't make sense beyond being "feel guilt" propaganda. Girls are great and part of the solution, but we'll need to include girls and boys to get the a world that works for everyone.

  • There is no excuse now you know - no matter what you think about the Foundation who created this.

  • isnt Nike, one of the companies doing the whole asian child sweatshop thing? well i hope at least theyre not little girls cause thatd make them huge hypocrites. and i bet a good 80-90% of ppl talking shit about about Nike, has Nikes sooooo...lol there yhu go:)

  • who cares if Nike made it? That doesn't make it any less true. When girls are in school at age 10,11,12 & not being forced into child marriages & motherhood, they pass on what they learn to their children and the entire community. They have fewer children & make more informed decisions in matters of health, investment, & education. Girls and boys may be equal, but they certainly aren't TREATED equally in the world. Girl Effect has a great mission & a great message. Keep up the good work.

  • @slave2f8 Isn't nike the company who uses little girls and boys to manufacture my shoes? lol

Maybe they changed, but I was in china when I was 13 and trust me there were terrible work conditions for children my age (at the time).

  • i was all into this until i found out Nike made it....smh...as much as they go to other 3rd world countries and exploit small girls and women to do child labor to make their products...who are they to talk? but not to be totally negative...it was a good video....but just that...a video...

  • It is NOT sexist. The world is almost completely patriarchal so most women/girls are considered secondary citizens. This video is just addressing the fact that the world SHOULD invest in girls, because in the end, everyone benefits...NOT JUST girls.

  • omg this makes men seem evil.

  • It is not sexist.... no matter what you say, it is still proven that women do not get the same treatment as men, especially worldwide....

... say what you want about Nike, the video, oversea charities or third world countries.... but women are NOT equal to men.... period.

  • Sexist!!!!! Not all women or girls are like that some men are worse of if anything

  • Great video... But Nike have some fucking nerve... Fucking hypocrites

  • Of course it isn't sexist...

'Invest in a girl and it'll raise the econamy' by so much but with boys...On no with boys we'll not help, fuck off.

  • Yes it is sexist.

  • @marijuana1mandem

Well said man, he's a fucking creep!!!

  • you spelt 'to' wrong

  • @littlelittleweed

He needs two, too, to, two, too, to, two, too, to, two, too, to, is that enough!!

  • no liberal bullshit relying on the goodwill of the inhabitants its too far for that

its kinda joke how in colonization these places were FIRST WORLD COUNTRYS look at rhodesia and now look at zimbabwe

because that needs to happen it is the only way

  • this is BS

im sorry but any aid that goes a lot of these countrys is actaully BAD it goes straght to dictators pockets and is used to fucking fuel this shit

take eithopia 20 years later and billions in aid

guess what happened the population DOUBLED but the quality of life went down

it seems that aid only makes more people in these countrys have kids and more can survive there

a serious fucking revolution a millitary takeover and fucking police enforment will do ANYTHING

  • Excuse me, I'm 14 and still got targets for my life. I'm not going out of my way for what government has done.

  • THIS IS SUCH BULLSHIT.

  • @bobadobalus

    Prove it!

  • This is such BS. Nike foundation!!! Nike has contracted factories with cheap labour in China, Vietnam and Indonesia. They used child labour in factories in Cambodia. Nike used GIRLS AS CHEAP LABOUR!!! Damn politics!!! It is a clever branding game. Nothing else!!

  • we are talking about oday...now..yes it's all such BS..nike this and tha *yawn*...DO SOMETHING ABOUT ITTTTTT!

  • @lovetanzanite

    Let's sleep on it! ZZZZZzzzZZZzzZZzZZzZzzzzzzzZZZZZ

  • GIRLS ROCK

  • @katysexbomb666 Amen!!

  • @katysexbomb666 why dont guys rock or is it a just girls are cool thing all this stuff is actually sexcist but noone realizes women ask for 50/50 but only think women should be demanding. you kind of women are so hypocritical.

  • It's the greedy government. Why is it that billions go into the country and nothing happens? Because the greedy rich government take a high percentage of the money and give the rest to the country. when that money is shared it ends up being pretty much worthless. Just one example is president mungabe with he's 20ft high solid gold eagle chair. He's got that and all he's people have nothing!! It needs to stop so they can have the life in Africa they deserve, and stay away from here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • africa suppose to be the richest nations of the world because it has natural resources

    gold 90%

    diamond 100%

    metal 85%

    why is it so poor

    think think

i am daring you to think why and what it has lead to this path

WAR i don,t think so considering who and were tyhe meltia is obtaining its weopons

  • Not so sure why people are so hostile to this. Indeed sexism not the only problem here. No, this is not accurate to all people and to all places in the world, and they should state that, however the driving force is still emotive.

  • you fail to realise that although a woman may, emphasis on 'may' because it seems to be a sketchy ideology, invest more moeny back into her family, men earn much much more, so the amount a man puts in is still probably greater, also, this sounds like a rather bias video, obviously made by a woman, typically complaining x

  • @musicmanafm

Not "may", but DOES. The numbers dating back decades from microfinance organizations like Grameen Bank and FINCA indicate this, and the statistics from organizations such as UNDP, CARE, Plan, the Population Council, etc. reaffrim this.

It's not based on sketchy ideology, but on decades of collected data.

  • This seems to be for a good cause but i doubt being this gender specific is going to help a population of people in need. Then again, being male ive probably only got a 35% chance of being right.

  • @magicpike86

The point is that more than half of the population is left out of development initiatives. You need girl-focused programs in order to bridge that gap. It's not about giving girls an unfair advantage, it's about giving them equal opportunities.

  • Well I Dare You To Look At Me And See What I Do About It

  • Nike's evil.

  • @tiyatita LMAO thats horrible:D

  • Christ... They're even after your money through widespread charity now?! Ridiculous.

  • Just do it!

  • right, there are some countries were women just have no human rights at all. but the problem goes beyond sexism and genre cuz it concerns to all the population.

  • Its hard to even understand this video, but i guess its for a good cause so JUST SUSCRIBE TO GIRLEFFECT LOL

  • @Malvinretch what has DAMILOLA Taylor got to do with this video???? Of point much

  • This video = sexism.

  • So yeah, It says "i dare you not to look at me and only see a statistic." and yet, it makes a long list of statistics at the end in a sexism way. Hmmm...

  • Generally male on male violence through gangs etc is easier to identify and prevent and lots is done by the police and government to stop it. In a lot of cases it is partly the choice of the men to join and get in fights. Violence against women however is harder to detect i.e. discrimination, domestic abuse and is far more common in less developed countries. This charity focuses on girls, if you think another issue is more important then go support that charity and stop blasting this one.

  • Also, this video is absolute bull-shit.

  • I agree 100%.

  • @13Gemstar have you read the book 'the secret' ... its all about the law of attraction. it's great. :)

  • @Malvinretch im a girl and i actually agree with you there (well minus the fuck the female gender part) but your right there are millions of charitys going on about how women should be helped saved or what ever but i dont think ive ever heard of a charity that just deals with male things like male on male violence. i think people just have this idea that men and boys arent as i dunno how to say it so ill just say vunerable as women so they ignor alot of problems that involve men.

  • so yea i guess this video is pretty sexist and i think quite a few charitys are too.

  • @kittycat13458

The truth is that males are NOT as vulnerable as girls and women. There are no entrenched systems that hold men down, the way there are those that deny women and girls their rights.

Charities don't just pick a cause because it's sexy. If you go to their websites and the websites of various UN agencies, you can read reports and research culled from decades of statistics and on-the-ground programs that show girl-focued programs and interventions WORK.

  • wow xxx

  • what the ?

  • wow just look at yourself you guys women have equal rights everyone should be treated the same! Perhaps it's just me or has the world started turning.?

  • @Dragon8554 It's not sexist it's just raising awarness

  • What a load of pretentious crap. Get a life.

  • errrm... what :S

  • thats being sexist they can only find wat girls are good for and thats all they can cum up with if boys wer included therd be a million things dat a boy can do

  • @shubyb totally missing the point...

  • nike doing something to help others. pfft, yeah i buy that

  • Have some respect. You lot are so busy chatting shit about these women and girls, your forgetting about the only reason you exsist: A WOMAN. Remeber your mothers you ignorant fools

  • WHAT THE FUCK??

  • lol i dare you to look at me and see a statistic,

a minute later, all these statistics.

  • WHAT a crock of shite

  • she'd hav 2.2 less children,,,,erm sorry what?

  • @sajuuk212

ever hear of the concept of averages? Like the average of 2, 1, and 5 is 4. Sometimes they're not whole numbers.

  • @LilMack549

    The average of 2,1,and 5 is not 4.... It's 2.6

  • @hackersgoddess

    oh dear god. that's embarrassing, isn't it?...hahaha

my point still stands, though! :)

  • thats all well and good, but wheres my sandwich

  • I thought this was a good video until I realized it's from a corporation as unethical as Nike.

  • @Laxcarl What do you mean?

  • @Laxcarl Nike and the Girl Effect are not the same. They are affiliated probably because Nike is a sponsor, but sponsorship does not mean Nike is responsible for the Girl Effect's mission, aid programs, operations or achievements. As a communications student who has studied "Corporate Social Responsibility," I ask you not to let Nike's affiliation tarnish your consideration of the Girl Effect.

  • @Laxcarl Sponsorship is one of many ways that non-profits secure funding; just the same, it doesn't mean they condone Nike's practices. They put Nike's name on their video as a general requirement of accepting sponsorship. If anything, this is Nike wanting to jump in on the Girl Effect's good works because Nike genuinely wants to give back or hopes the act of giving back will make them look better.

  • @Laxcarl why? which one?

  • wow that gave me shivers!!!

  • Wonderful video. Well done. Love. Smith

  • @PSTRIPPLEE u mad

  • You pussy dont act tough behind the computer (keyboard warrior) xD

  • i dare you to pity me while i get 132,000,000 a year from charities

  • lol ownd.

  • You "dare" me do you? As in, you ask for help by challenging potential supporters? :) Very well, challenge accepted.

    Pity increase minimal.

Women are awesome, charity is not. Pity, that. The message is tainted in many ways, but hey, whatever appeals to rich white folk apparently like myself :D

  • I dare you try live without food.. for good week, no bath, nothing not even brushing your teeth. try drink dirty water from outside not inside the tap and maybe you might understand how there living. but right now yall all clueless

  • Most of you that are behind this computer should apprciate your living in a wealthy family to earn a computer and wat ever u need... if u was in there shoe you would understand the true definition of the purpose of being in this world. but since yall all arrogant and stupid because of the wealth you have you wont relise nothing

  • Im not going to feel sorry because my distant ancestors decided and had the brains to:

    1) move out of the desert

    2) farm fertile land

    3) not massively over populate poor areas for habitation

    4) discovered medicines and anti-biotics and shared them with everyone.

  • Bravo my freind

  • oh and you are 29 from the UK? With that shocking level of English I really hope you lied.

  • nike ?

  • can we have some sub titles please

  • " im black and poor with kids, donate money "

  • There you have it. A girl asks...a boy takes. Strength over weakness. Men don't ask for the right to vote. Get it. The girl effect, what a joke. What bullish pride. Yeah, give me money too. Please Banks...

  • There you have it. A girl asks...a boy takes. Strength over weakness. Men don't ask for the right to vote. Get it. The girl effect, what a joke. What bullish pride. Yeah, give me money too. Please Banks...

  • Powerful video, we could all learn from it, whether it's from Nike or not, let's not allow that to taint the message.

  • What about the girls working in Nike's sweatshops? And the boys, for that matter?

  • the girl effect is the world bank and it's a loan? loans from the NWO WORLD BANK!!! LOL there the ones that ripped these girls off!!! look at AIG 160 billion this girl effect is only 36 billion? you do the math its a CON LOAN!!! Scott (BUG)
