Is Roy imagining being with Ed or was Ed actually there? Its appears as if this is taking place after the series and Ed is stuck in the other world so Roy is praying for him to return. Praying for the chance to tell him he loves him.

I hope someone more familiar with this will tell me if I'm on the right track

For some reason, I believe that they are both wishing for him to return, the fact may still stand that they both have fallen deeply in love and have just now realized because of so much distance between them..

So they make their own 'dreams/daydreams/fantasies' loving eachother, even though it may not be real.

Then again my assumptions are usually completely off.
