All I use windows for is working... at first glance looks like a bad apple iPad imitation. Windows gratest market is the huge working class and profesionals using it around the world.
you can get back the normal start menu and the option that the desktop starts when you start your pc, you just have to change something in the HKEY file
for all of you who are saying that 8 is terrible, you're sadly mistaken. WAY better performance, and a whole whack of new features. it's a huge leap forward. you just have to get used to it! yes, it is different, but trust me, once you get a feel for it, you'll love it!
Fuck apps. What happened to programs? Windows is loosing it's image if you ask me. Why would they have apps? That's Mac. I'm not a Windows user who hates Mac. I used to have a MacBook Pro. I loved it. But keep your image. (Using XP at the moment)
This looks just way to confusing all for the sake of looking "sleak". Probably overreacting but just disappointed thus far.
@picdome mac is a fucking pc. the different is the operating system not the device itself, cuz u can run mac os x on non Apple pc and u can run Windows or linux on Apple pc. MAC IS A PERSONAL COMPUTER.
preliminary tests indicate that windows 8 outpreforms windows 7 in various tests due to better optimization so it will be faster and use less resources overall but have fun boycotting it cuz it looks funny you shallow fucking retards
it's funny, i see a lot of posts here from windows users running scared to OS X. Well, as a Mac user, this is my moment to switch. I'm getting really sick of Macs, tacking on all the cheesy crap from iOS, especially with this mountain lion update. Microsoft really have got it right - they've redefined BOTH OSes to unify it all.
This is really putting me off, I have already started saving for an iMac. I'm tired of Windows killing my machine. Of course it is a matter of perspective, if it works for you then great! But I can't wait to change to OSX.
Is there away to shut off aero glass and aero bloated borders like you haveinwin8? In Windows 7 it's control panel --> system -->advanced system settings -->performance pane (settings button) and then you can disable visual styles on windows and buttons and other gui annoyances.
Can the softwares running in window7 be installed/run normally in window8?
I'm afraid that the softwares that i used to use in window7 cannot be installed in window8, such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, Robot Structure,....and some other old software versions.
Is the current window8 stable yet? Does it have some bugs? Does it run faster than window7?
@YouTubamatic thats retarded. They didn't remove the start menu... they just reinvented it. And if you hate it that much you can go into the registry and bring back the windows 7 startm menu. This os is nothing like windows 3.11.
Don't you guys all think that since the Metro UI is getting such apprehension, the final version of windows 8 will come with an easy way to disable it? That's not to mention that there's a way to disable it currently in the developers preview. If it's not your cup of tea, that is absolutely fine, but the possible benefits of a unified OS across desktops, laptops and tablets are pretty damn awesome. Start thinking of the bigger picture people. keep in mind, this is an early developers preview.
@SomaVlog Nope. You see, old-slyled windows UI is boring and will send sales off to the zero. Users every time need only NEW! Only HOT! They is very boring with any typical and easy solutions.
So, Sony declines folders.
So, Apple declines flash.
So, Windows declines compatibility with old users.
Or you want to have 40-years models? Welcome to the old and creepy 60-x: Citroen 2CV, Morgan 4/4, VAZ/Lada-2107, and so on.
@SomaVlog but what happens when your desktop becomes a tablet because of the operating system? Tablets suck. You have to do twenty steeps to find 1 thing. With tradtional windows even mac and linux it was one click and done. If we all buy into this system, the companies will keep doing this shit and give less. Stand up and don't buy this.
@TheNXGvideos Ummm actually the "lame xbox dashboard" is made so that windows 8 will be on the tablets and so the icons will be easier to touch. Pay attention mutha fucka.
Can the softwares running in window7 can be installed/run normally in window8?
I'm afraid that the softwares that i used to use before cannot be installed in window8, such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, Robot Structure,....or some other old software versions.
... Not windows. Wont Buy, Start menu = false/lame/gone. looks like Xbox 360 new Dashboard wich is laaaaaaaaaaaaaame! keeping windows 7 and XP service Pack 3 with Microsoft office supreme deluxe ultra extra awsome edition. you know why? because its windows
This cross between Desktop and Touch Pad UI is great and is the future and it would be awsome for touch screen laptops but most of all Tablets than can connect to a keyboard dock and looks much more better and original than IOS
But right clicking (or Ctrl+Double click) and then clicking properties is actually faster than clicking the item and then going all the way up to click on the properties icon, it's the same amount of clicks with a longer mouse movement.
@alphavortex1 Or at least have it open to skinning easily without needing additional software to run in the background or hacking dlls. I use windows seven, and it's such a pain to change the look. You can do it, but man, such a pain in the ass.
I am most likely to go to Windows 8, since it seems to be a whole lot better to run. As most people say, windows 8 uses less resources than windows 7. (This is the reason why Vista sucked, for those of you who have either been living under a rock or just followed the mainstream about "vista sucks" even though you really don't know why.)
Everyone has their own opinion yes, but I would recommend you to try Windows 8 when it is released. It's always weird to move to something new. (Like XP to Windows 7).
@xXZarlachXx Windows 7 is great. I use both three Windows 2000/XP/7 on different computers, here.
They updated the Xbox 360 with a similar panel thingy, and now I hate the look of it. I'm not going to upgrade to Windows 8 to have a panel thingy as a start menu. Yes, I know, it can be modified yet, but still, I won't upgrade. No one is going to make me change my mind. As I said, if I HAVE to upgrade, I'll use Linux, or I'll get a mac.
i also have developer preview and the screen shot feature is kind of laggy it will take a screen shot you just have to give it sometime to take and load hopefully in the official release it will work as desired
Is there any way that I may disable the freaking touch-inspired start-menu and just run Win 8 as a normal windows desktop OS? I don't need that for my desktop computer. For my tablet I would love it, but not for normal workflow with keyboard and mouse!
And why did they impliment the MS Office Ribbon? Takes alot of space and looks bad. I love that they made it easier to access the stuff, but why the mega images? Just have text there to tell what it is. People can read!
@chrishmal1 yes you can...Im having a slight issue with Autodesk based apps cause there program installer refuses to run under compatibility mode but other software runs fine i have Cs5 Creative suite The windows installer just migrated the files to the windows.old folder

@shadowsquall86 Tablets are pretty big right now, and jumping into the tablet market with a full fledged OS is a pretty neat idea. I'm not too crazy about tablet computing, but I understand it from a business standpoint.
@shadowsquall86 I agree, but they did it because tablets are the future of computers, they will become powerful enough eventually that we wouldn't use or need laptops/desktops.
@mattmurray07 I agree with you to a small tangent they are trying to appeal the windows phone users while keeping the traditional pc users in mind if they purely wanted to out do apple they make Microsoft Surface tablets
@shadowsquall86 A uniform OS has many advantages. 1. Increase workflow and compatibility. 2. Developing an OS for mobile devices in mind first, lowers system requirements and resources to run them for PCs. 3. It makes it easier for software developers when there is only one OS for all devices and their software works on all of them.
As with a good thing there is always a bad thing. With one OS, hackers can attack with multiple options in terms of devices to use. Viruses can also spread faster.
@shadowsquall86 The idea is to prevent fragmentation before end users become to familiar with one form tablets mids and hand held computers have been around way before the ipad although way less popular they struggled from fragmentation ...and so do the android phones today ios has almost zero fragmentation because it looks like its desktop companion that is all
@SomaVlog man dis thing annoying thefuck outta me i have a 32bit inspiron duo tablet/netbook n metro apps such as weather news or stock app wont even open for what ever reason i dont know.......
@thatguyKEVINN Not sure if there is an expiration date, however on the website link it says software functionality is subject to change without warning.
@SomaVlog if you want to take it out you follow the directions right? and did you ever try to take it out and if you did could you tell me what happened
@Blackouunet It has been working pretty well so far, a few bugs with metro things, but it is handling regular applications pretty well, probably because its got most of the windows 7 architecture in place. I'm using it on my laptop which I use pretty infrequently, I think it will be able to manage pretty well.
OMG they are finaly making things simple!! What took you so long microsoft!!

The thing I hate is the Win 8 DESIGN. I don't mind if it takes less resources or not, my computer could handle it anyways.
Bring me any OS, I'll like it. Bring me one that looks like Windows 8, I'll hate it.

No they aren't. They're trying to appeal to Windows users, and I like it.

I installed the Windows 8 Tech Preview in my netbook but the metro apps aren't working at all. Would you happen to know how to fix this?
tyronecudeldiego 5 months ago
@tyronecudeldiego Unfortunately, I don't know, maybe try re downloading the Developer's Preview and try re-installing, that's what I would do.

Thank you for the video, this new Windows looks pretty cool.
Is this version actually working for a common usage of Windows, or did you see bugs, disabled features, or that kind of stuff ?
Blackouunet 5 months ago in playlist Vidéos de SomaVlog
@Blackouunet It has been working pretty well so far, a few bugs with metro things, but it is handling regular applications pretty well, probably because its got most of the windows 7 architecture in place. I'm using it on my laptop which I use pretty infrequently, I think it will be able to manage pretty well.

@SomaVlog Good to know, maybe I'll give it a try ! Thanks for the answer ;)
