  • OMG they are finaly making things simple!! What took you so long microsoft!!

  • All I use windows for is working... at first glance looks like a bad apple iPad imitation. Windows gratest market is the huge working class and profesionals using it around the world.

  • you can get back the normal start menu and the option that the desktop starts when you start your pc, you just have to change something in the HKEY file

  • for all of you who are saying that 8 is terrible, you're sadly mistaken. WAY better performance, and a whole whack of new features. it's a huge leap forward. you just have to get used to it! yes, it is different, but trust me, once you get a feel for it, you'll love it!

  • Windows 8 is nice though Metro sucks!

  • You need to prepare and practice well before recording your video.

  • Do you want to see something fake?

    /watch?v=ihgBQcr8MuA&feature=related

  • Fuck apps. What happened to programs? Windows is loosing it's image if you ask me. Why would they have apps? That's Mac. I'm not a Windows user who hates Mac. I used to have a MacBook Pro. I loved it. But keep your image. (Using XP at the moment)

This looks just way to confusing all for the sake of looking "sleak". Probably overreacting but just disappointed thus far.

  • i'm really getting tired of my mac... i'll switch to pc when i got money.. damn this looks good!

  • @animeboy247 am pretty tired of pc and wishing to switch to mac, for pc we ll get pirated but for mac we need real money :(

  • @picdome mac is a fucking pc. the different is the operating system not the device itself, cuz u can run mac os x on non Apple pc and u can run Windows or linux on Apple pc. MAC IS A PERSONAL COMPUTER.

  • i'm watching this from a Mac and i won't be jumping back to windows any time soon

  • apps wtf is appas haha computers have programs, not apps!

  • this shit looks awkward as fuck

  • a design scandal...

  • I'll join you when hell freezes over.

  • I always used Windows, but now .... I am pretty much done with it.

  • Windows 8 will killed Daemon tools

  • ill buy a mac really windows 8 the taskbar looks slower to use...

  • This is shit, now I'm gonna have to buy a Mac

  • @MrAjbeck lol i feel the same, and i hate apples os on laptops, think im gonna look into ubuntu

  • @EilidhlovesA7X yes ubuntu look much better for laptop and notbooks

  • 0:08 - Didililya XDDDD

  • Looks like shit

  • it's funny, i see a lot of posts here from windows users running scared to OS X. Well, as a Mac user, this is my moment to switch. I'm getting really sick of Macs, tacking on all the cheesy crap from iOS, especially with this mountain lion update. Microsoft really have got it right - they've redefined BOTH OSes to unify it all.

  • This is really putting me off, I have already started saving for an iMac. I'm tired of Windows killing my machine. Of course it is a matter of perspective, if it works for you then great! But I can't wait to change to OSX.

  • scrap

  • Is there away to shut off aero glass and aero bloated borders like you haveinwin8? In Windows 7 it's control panel --> system -->advanced system settings -->performance pane (settings button) and then you can disable visual styles on windows and buttons and other gui annoyances.

  • Metro is absolutely horrible

  • This looks terrible I will stick with vista then get a mac

  • don't worry, everything that runs in 7 will run in 8.

  • Does win 8 have the ability to make hierichal/child folders in SendTo menu?

    (this was removed with Vista)

  • No Start Button: So back to Windows 3.11... great... How many times is Microshaft gonna keep flipping back & forth. Wow, what a lack of innovation!

I can already see patches coming out to give the "Windows XP desktop"

  • @YouTubamatic thats retarded. They didn't remove the start menu... they just reinvented it. And if you hate it that much you can go into the registry and bring back the windows 7 startm menu. This os is nothing like windows 3.11.

  • Windows Eight is shit apparantly, Its like vista when it came out.

  • Don't you guys all think that since the Metro UI is getting such apprehension, the final version of windows 8 will come with an easy way to disable it? That's not to mention that there's a way to disable it currently in the developers preview. If it's not your cup of tea, that is absolutely fine, but the possible benefits of a unified OS across desktops, laptops and tablets are pretty damn awesome. Start thinking of the bigger picture people. keep in mind, this is an early developers preview.

  • @SomaVlog Nope. You see, old-slyled windows UI is boring and will send sales off to the zero. Users every time need only NEW! Only HOT! They is very boring with any typical and easy solutions.

    So, Sony declines folders.

    So, Apple declines flash.

So, Windows declines compatibility with old users.

Or you want to have 40-years models? Welcome to the old and creepy 60-x: Citroen 2CV, Morgan 4/4, VAZ/Lada-2107, and so on.

But not today with successful business!

  • @SomaVlog but what happens when your desktop becomes a tablet because of the operating system? Tablets suck. You have to do twenty steeps to find 1 thing. With tradtional windows even mac and linux it was one click and done. If we all buy into this system, the companies will keep doing this shit and give less. Stand up and don't buy this.

  • @SomaVlog I don't plan on getting a windows phone or tablet so a united OS means nothing to me...its a gimmick that reminds me too much of Apple

  • @TheNXGvideos Ummm actually the "lame xbox dashboard" is made so that windows 8 will be on the tablets and so the icons will be easier to touch. Pay attention mutha fucka.

  • @TrickyPickyRicky123 well then microsoft needs to make a windows 8 special version for tablets... im going to hate this.

  • why are people bitching about this it is so much better than 7 maybe they just dont understand the full concept

  • Can the softwares running in window7 can be installed/run normally in window8?

I'm afraid that the softwares that i used to use before cannot be installed in window8, such as AutoCAD, SAP2000, Robot Structure,....or some other old software versions.

  • ... Not windows. Wont Buy, Start menu = false/lame/gone. looks like Xbox 360 new Dashboard wich is laaaaaaaaaaaaaame! keeping windows 7 and XP service Pack 3 with Microsoft office supreme deluxe ultra extra awsome edition. you know why? because its windows

  • This cross between Desktop and Touch Pad UI is great and is the future and it would be awsome for touch screen laptops but most of all Tablets than can connect to a keyboard dock and looks much more better and original than IOS

  • What recording program do you use?

  • @pntjr camtasia

  • My Start menu is gone!! NOOOO!! Windows 8 has all hype no game.

  • *BAM* I dislike!

  • But right clicking (or Ctrl+Double click) and then clicking properties is actually faster than clicking the item and then going all the way up to click on the properties icon, it's the same amount of clicks with a longer mouse movement.

  • A whole start menu item for sharing screenshots!? That looks extremely useful. A lot of people share screenshots in a daily basis.

  • i'm staying with windows 7 not impressed

  • Why desktop?

  • Apps are dumb.

    Windows 8 will be dumb.

    Windows 7 4Ever...

  • download and use program Everything, its faster and better search that that. I just hope you dont have an orgasm using it :o

  • Can you at least try to learn how to speak english? Please do...

  • i rlly think the desktop should be removed, FOR GOOD.

whats up with the phone 7?! its rlly cool, the desktop would be 10 times as gd without the desktop!

  • needs metreo ui ond esktop too! It looks really inconsistent

  • the scroll bar is really ugly >.<

  • i use a virutal dvd drive like everyday! this is soo cool! i dont like the apps thing.. ugh

  • What's the memory foot print?

  • the start button. ot looks so horrible. a damn square, id prefer the orb.

  • *shit

  • This is so shut I'm staying in 7

  • I'm hardcore pc but... Why can't Microsoft get some STYLE? soooo boring

  • @alphavortex1 Or at least have it open to skinning easily without needing additional software to run in the background or hacking dlls. I use windows seven, and it's such a pain to change the look. You can do it, but man, such a pain in the ass.

  • can I use gadgets on this?

  • Looks simple

  • even the start button is ugly in windows 8

  • I am most likely to go to Windows 8, since it seems to be a whole lot better to run. As most people say, windows 8 uses less resources than windows 7. (This is the reason why Vista sucked, for those of you who have either been living under a rock or just followed the mainstream about "vista sucks" even though you really don't know why.)

  • This honestly looks like some fake chinese shit.

  • Smells like Gnu/Linux distros will have baby boom :D

  • I have a problemmmm.... I can't log in in Socialite. It says Loggin In, BUT NOTHING

  • There are big ugly icons probably because you're supposed to use Windows 8 with a touch screen monitor

  • I'll stick to vista and Se7en. FUCK THIS!

  • Windows 95 : Shit

    Windows 98 : good

    Windows ME : Shit

    Windows 2000 : Shit

    Windows XP : Good!

    Windows Vista : Shit

    Windows 7 : Good

    Windows 8 : * Trollface *

  • jesus what a loser OS! think I'll go GNU/Linux

  • I'll never upgrade Windows again. If I HAVE to upgrade, I'll use Linux.

    Windows 8 sucks.

  • @xElvewatfordx Who the hell wants to look at a list of icons anyway? It's so ugly, and so much easier to find things!

  • @xElvewatfordx

Have you tried the full version windows 8?

  • @xXZarlachXx Not the FULL, it's only in a Dev Preview yet.

I never said Vista was bad. Vista is good if your computer is good. And it's even better when you do the SP1 update.

The thing I hate is the Win 8 DESIGN. I don't mind if it takes less resources or not, my computer could handle it anyways.

Bring me any OS, I'll like it. Bring me one that looks like Windows 8, I'll hate it.

Also, the Xbox 360 dashboard update makes me want to sell my 360.

Everyone has their own opinion, I guess.

  • @xElvewatfordx

Everyone has their own opinion yes, but I would recommend you to try Windows 8 when it is released. It's always weird to move to something new. (Like XP to Windows 7).

  • @xXZarlachXx Windows 7 is great. I use both three Windows 2000/XP/7 on different computers, here.

They updated the Xbox 360 with a similar panel thingy, and now I hate the look of it. I'm not going to upgrade to Windows 8 to have a panel thingy as a start menu. Yes, I know, it can be modified yet, but still, I won't upgrade. No one is going to make me change my mind. As I said, if I HAVE to upgrade, I'll use Linux, or I'll get a mac.

  • @xElvewatfordx try os x for mac its really good if u want to do something in media

  • it looks like nobody will upgrade ;D

  • Seems like they trying to imitate the Gnome Shell Style... sorry but seems very similar...

  • @aguythatlikesipods what a loser seriously dawg

  • Desktop , fuck yeah !!

  • BYE BYE DAEMON TOOLS!

  • please change those stupid and old graphics and icons.

  • Well, i kinda like the Metro interface... But i will really need to get used to it!

  • i also have developer preview and the screen shot feature is kind of laggy it will take a screen shot you just have to give it sometime to take and load hopefully in the official release it will work as desired

  • you could already copy path in windows 7 just shift+rightclick and copy as path

  • @utech211 Great tip thanks!

  • @utech211 nice one! very useful

  • 0:10 euhm?

  • Is there any way that I may disable the freaking touch-inspired start-menu and just run Win 8 as a normal windows desktop OS? I don't need that for my desktop computer. For my tablet I would love it, but not for normal workflow with keyboard and mouse!

And why did they impliment the MS Office Ribbon? Takes alot of space and looks bad. I love that they made it easier to access the stuff, but why the mega images? Just have text there to tell what it is. People can read!

Want to love it, but cant

  • Can I run and install softwares?

ex: Adobe Photoshop, Utorrent, Skype, etc..

  • @chrishmal1 yes you can...Im having a slight issue with Autodesk based apps cause there program installer refuses to run under compatibility mode but other software runs fine i have Cs5 Creative suite The windows installer just migrated the files to the windows.old folder

  • @chrishmal1 of course you can! everything that works in 7 will work in 8 :)

  • Baam....love the iso feature..

  • Retainer much?

  • The only thing that makes me happy it is a tablet os and a pc os is that all the apps developers make for tablets will be able to use on your pc :)

  • i got a convertible tablet just for this (posting this in windows 8 :)

  • Yeah... Not getting this

  • It looks pretty annoying...

  • can i installe it form hp 4 gb pen drive

  • The start button looks ugly with the dark part and i don't like windows 8. I will stay with Windows 7...

  • I am more comfortable with win7

  • i think ms should have separated the two versions instead of unified both. Windows 8 desktop version and Windows 8 Tablet Version. the desktop they have for the "classic" look is just an app, which says the main thing about Windows 8 is its new metro ui, I'm gonna stick with ubuntu and wait for their april release of their new lts version. I dubbing Windows 8 as Windows Hate, or Windows H8.

  • @DonkeyKong96 Yeah, like they have a mobile Windows specifically for phones.

  • can't wait for windows 8 !

  • hay we are running win 8 devlopes preview

  • It gonna take a while to get used to this

  • So no more "regular" start menu? I only use a desktop and I don't see this working out...

  • @Geforce2187 yeah its gonna take a while to get use to but i think we can all adapt

  • Is so Linux, Gnome 3 :) not so original :) windowze always a copy

  • @imawesome432 Can you have it enabled by default? Or do you have to go into it from that retarded Metro screen?

  • I hope the whole planet will sue microsoft for this.

  • @jasrodis You can disable the metro ui and even bring back the old start menu if you are so inclined, no big deal.

  • @SomaVlog Please tell me how I m stuck

  • @MrSquishedsquashed I will update the info with a link to an article that tells you how to do this.

  • @SomaVlog Thanks

  • @MrSquishedsquashed regedit-Until you find WinNT-WinNT-Explorer version - 0.

  • @jasrodis SHUT UP!

  • @jasrodis Which begs the question, what have Microsoft done other than badly port the OS to ARM?

  • For the desktop/laptop, non-touch interface I would call it fugly. For a tablet I can see the benefit.

  • I hate the start menu...

  • a quien le recuerda ubuntu netbook o gnome 3 o kde for netbook

  • Why on earth is MS trying to create a uniform OS for tablets and desktops. I get uniformity between tablets and phones - but tablets/deskops :p

  • @shadowsquall86 Tablets are pretty big right now, and jumping into the tablet market with a full fledged OS is a pretty neat idea. I'm not too crazy about tablet computing, but I understand it from a business standpoint.

  • @shadowsquall86 If the tech can allow it, then why not? :)

  • @shadowsquall86 I agree, but they did it because tablets are the future of computers, they will become powerful enough eventually that we wouldn't use or need laptops/desktops.

  • @chjones31

    Desktops > Anything mobile.

  • @nullins They are trying to appeal to the "Apple" crowd. Instead they are just.......not happy with it

  • @Muhahahahaha49

No they aren't. They're trying to appeal to Windows users, and I like it.

  • @mattmurray07 I agree with you to a small tangent they are trying to appeal the windows phone users while keeping the traditional pc users in mind if they purely wanted to out do apple they make Microsoft Surface tablets

  • @shadowsquall86 A uniform OS has many advantages. 1. Increase workflow and compatibility. 2. Developing an OS for mobile devices in mind first, lowers system requirements and resources to run them for PCs. 3. It makes it easier for software developers when there is only one OS for all devices and their software works on all of them.

As with a good thing there is always a bad thing. With one OS, hackers can attack with multiple options in terms of devices to use. Viruses can also spread faster.

  • @shadowsquall86 The idea is to prevent fragmentation before end users become to familiar with one form tablets mids and hand held computers have been around way before the ipad although way less popular they struggled from fragmentation ...and so do the android phones today ios has almost zero fragmentation because it looks like its desktop companion that is all

  • Looks good. I guess its time to get something better then my XP. =|

  • I installed the Windows 8 Tech Preview in my netbook but the metro apps aren't working at all. Would you happen to know how to fix this?

  • @tyronecudeldiego Unfortunately, I don't know, maybe try re downloading the Developer's Preview and try re-installing, that's what I would do.

  • @SomaVlog man dis thing annoying thefuck outta me i have a 32bit inspiron duo tablet/netbook n metro apps such as weather news or stock app wont even open for what ever reason i dont know.......

  • Noooo, you can't access desktop programs from the start menu!

  • @Dooombox yes you can...

  • dude this is awsome how did you get a hands on?

  • @thatguyKEVINN There is an official link to where you can get your hands on this in the description.

  • @SomaVlog hey thanks dude but how long does this last

  • @thatguyKEVINN Not sure if there is an expiration date, however on the website link it says software functionality is subject to change without warning.

  • Aaa.Degh,degh.ddd.d.dddddd...

  • Thank you for the video, this new Windows looks pretty cool.

Is this version actually working for a common usage of Windows, or did you see bugs, disabled features, or that kind of stuff ?

  • @Blackouunet It has been working pretty well so far, a few bugs with metro things, but it is handling regular applications pretty well, probably because its got most of the windows 7 architecture in place. I'm using it on my laptop which I use pretty infrequently, I think it will be able to manage pretty well.

  • @SomaVlog Good to know, maybe I'll give it a try ! Thanks for the answer ;)
