This is my art professor at my university. I am taking beginning ceramics and I had no clue that he was this popular. This makes me look at him in a different light. I'm now intimidated.
Great tutorial... I really like how you make things small. My teacher told me its harder to do that, I have small hands and smaller ceramic objects are easier for me than larger.
I was fortunate to have seen the series of Fong Choo videos some time before I got an announcement of a Fong Choo workshop from a local crafts center. I jumped right on it because of knowing what might be offered and had a great experience in his workshop, 2 days of learning from a true master. The video series serves as a great refresher when I start up making pots in his style. He also taught his methods for making reed handles, which isn't in this series. Good stuff all!
Thank you...thank you...thank you.....I am so motivated I can't stand it!! I am going to dare to try to use what I have learned from you....Keep making more videos, they are great..!!! cd
Thank you all so much. I wouldn't have been able to make these videos if it hadn't been for the artists who truly wanted others to understand how and why they work. As to the camera angles, I just got lucky.
I am currently in my 6th year of studying ceramics and have recently discovered videos on the internet. I absolutly loved watching this video of Fong Choo. I believe it to be the best I have seen and am inspired to create my own teapots with a twist. Thankyou so much for your commitment to producing such a wonderful video.
A potter of 10 yrs and rather isolated now that I have left college I find youtube fascinating. Today in viewing your video a whole new world was opened up. Namaste...
These are some of the best instructional ceramics videos I've ever watched. Fong is as good a teacher as he is potter. His continuous narration of the technical execution is akin to a cooking show. Excellent camara angles as well. I will look for these artist in residence videos to purchase. Thank you most sincerely!!!!
Did anyone ask Fong how he justifies teapots as art objects versus functional teapots? This question, I am sure, has arose at his shows.
I would be curious to hear his answer to this question

The finished pots look as if they came out of Alice's Wonderland.
I stayed up very late to see all movies in this series, this is such a fascinating and incredible world. Amazing work!
