  • 3:22 - 4:25 = becoming a presence in a computer bank. How can " they " ( whoever " they " are ) guarantee that the person being uploaded into a computer is the actual person & not just a program, a system of datafiles containing approximations of personality traits, memories, etc., of who a particular person is / was when they were in their organic bodies ?

  • The amount of assumptions and logical oversights here is astounding.

Why do you assume it would be so imposable to keep AI under control, or prevent it from becoming evil?

Waht are you basing that on?

    Hollywood movies???

  • Make no mistake, what you see when you open your eyes is a hallucination.

Just what's in your field of view is filtered through a plethora of different processes before your conscious mind can even perceive it.

And of your field of view, you can only ever process a small subset of it.

Make no mistake, your mind is already running inside a computer, that pokes and prods and manipulates your mind.

The naked arrogance, to think that you're really in control of your mind, that you know your self.

  • I think, what people are afraid to acknowledge, is that, you're all already trapped in a virtual simulation -- your brain!

Your consciousness is already uploaded into a computer.

You're experiencing the world through a meat computer.

A worldview, that is like a pinhole.

Your mind is constantly subject to primitive biological impulses.

Transhumanists, want to liberate you, to let your mind be truly free.

How could anyone object to that???

  • omg... its deus ex all over again!!

  • To the unknown!!!

Are you afraid? Stay in Africa.

  • Was that John Carmack at 3:53?

  • more people, more scientists, more chance that we achtive immortality.

  • is this a setup for Terminator pt 6?

  • You're frightening people about things things that pretty much already exist in a different form.

  • The guy who made this video is such a pessimist. Dude....Why would anyone connect their brains to a damn computer? We can live forever with the use of medicine alone...Go read more faggot.

  • @repme okay if a normal human being took any drugs there would always be sideeffects, no matter who the person is. it can be minor or major, but they will always be sideffects. But if you connect a chip to ur brain and connect that too a computer there will be very little sideffects. and we would live forever "spiritually"

  • Well put. The "singularity" is a future hell. No escape and no way back if you choose it.

  • Overpopulation is a non-issue. As people's wealth and survival times increase, reproduction goes down to sustaining or even declining levels. Populations are shrinking in the Western world (not counting for immigration). Canada, my own country, relies on it to maintain the job pool.

You lack critical examination skills, friend.

  • As I said before, there wont be any problem with people trying to hack the computers as those who want power over people would just become a computer so they can get simulated power over humans but without the danger of getting caught.

  • Oh the irony, your using one of the greatest examples of freedom through technology in history to argue that new communications technology will lead to a totalitarian state. Right now we are all connected via the internet and government and corporations have, if anything, lost control over people. aka piracy, hackers, wiki leaks, etc

  • But government DOES manage human life.

  • Illuminati symbol at the beginning

  • I would much rather have genetic upgrades than having hardware fused with my body. In the case of immortality, that can be achieved with drugs.

  • 4:00 My virtual self would be tortured forever by John Carmack.

  • Anarcho-Syndicalism I believe is an ideal philosophy for the development,

and individual adoption of technology .

In this environment fears regarding government behavior,

and their use of technology is unnecessary.

As for your references between science and religion.

I think man should empower himself to the point of divinity,

but like Christ remember our modesty.

I do not agree with using nano-technology to induce euphoria,

    or be virtual spirits.

    This is not physical empowerment.

  • You've nailed it. My thoughts exactly. Your painting of the transhumanism experience is actually a very theologically accurate picture of hell. It's eternal dehumanization with no way to return.

  • What if one were to either hire and expert or become an expert on micro/nano chip technology? If that person examined the chip and saw a means by which it could control others, wouldn't you think they'd let EVERYONE they could know about that? Now, there are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of experts on micro/nano technology in the world today, and I'm guessing that number will grow over time; don't you think ONE of them would be kind enough to alert humanity of their malicious purpose?

  • @XXTheMoleXX Hell, look at computer programs today. Back-doors are found by security analysts and released publicly all the time.

Also, the uploader completely fails to acknowledge that the human brain _is_ a machine. So we don't use brain chips--how long until the brain itself is understood enough to be controllable?

Every technology is a dual-edged sword. We either abandon technology or embrace it. Those who abandon it reap none of its benefits. I'll embrace it.

  • if it's an option between living longer and denying new life into the world or dying naturally and allowing a greater turnover (for want of a better term) of new life into the world then i think we deffinatly should be left to die naturally. to prolong our own lives any deny new life into the world is just greedy and selfish.

  • It seems to me that the bad consequences of government control over life, giving government totalitarian like power over us, who would be powerless and to their mercy simply because we are plugged into their network, seems to outweigh the benefits.

  • We shouldnt think too far or we gonna lose ourself from what we want. So first we should extend our life and intelligent to figure out this question

  • I don't find "overpopulation" issue as a real problem. When we eventually become machine we will be able live anywhere. (including outer space)

  • Oh and a common answer to most of your "religious/spiritual" answers:

    "So what?"

What people want to do with themselves should be none of your concern...

Just as annoying as those Jehova Witnesses trying to save us from "hell".

  • "your entire existence is contained within a tiny computer"

Let me tell you your present situation:

"your entire existence is contained within a computer made out of neurones, hormones and electricity."

Oh and great, they can do with us what they want, these non-uploaded?

Ever heard something of encryption, of access privileges?

There are many, many ways to protect oneself in these cases, the only differences would be that we no longer have burglars and murderer, but crackers. (if they can)

  • knkhn

  • #1 you know fuck all about transhumanism

    #2 atrificial inteligence already exists

#3 religious superstition is #1 danger to human kind

What overpopulation has to do with transhumanism? and your 'deep philisofical' problem of mind in a computer is just laughable. You are just one of those people that surf thru life on a waves of ignorance and lack of knowledge of others. it seems that I can't post a comment so if you see multiple comment -sorry.

  • If we don't play God, who will?

  • good point. we have plenty of people in our world that have been doing just that for a very long time. they aren't likely to let up either.

if you're interested in "becoming a god" there are plenty of places that will be more than happy to facilitate your efforts, though i would highly advise against joining.

  • @yehcnimoigres do we need anyone to play god?

  • @yehcnimoigres

    ........God.

  • @yehcnimoigres

little full of ourselves, arent we?

  • if overpopulation was a real problem wouldn't we have "floating" cities out in the Atlantic and some such places and such as? there are things to do before you start killing people but already more people died from hunger this year then last year by double.

  • any component of living nature's sole purpose is to compete for our lives and territories...technology is just another tool to compete for said resources...the brain chip souds like the "mark of the beast' A TIME TRAVELER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE PROPHECIES! HE KNEW WE WOULDNT ACCEPT A STRANGER OUT OF NOWHERE...SO HE TOOK THE ROLE OF JESUS WITH HIS KNOWLEDGE OF THE FUTURE AND READIED OUR "AFRAID OF CHANGE" MINDSETS WITH GENERATIONS OF RELIGION TO BACK HIS CLAIMS UP LOL! just joking so u know!

  • lol yep... sounds cool

  • @Agogaraxis It's far cheaper to keep them huddled together in over-crowded cities, like in India. Floating cities? For poor people? What's next, giving them enough to eat? Preposterous!

  • Nice work.

  • I like your video, Mr. Franz. And I must admit that there's truth behind your arguments on Transhumanism. However, what if such technologies which could have benefit people (i.e. the physically disabled) been boycotted by the common people and would be used by the people of higher power instead?

Change is inevitable, but we can make it better. Sad thing is, I don't see people trying to make changes on such issues that may run the risk of eroding their freedom.

  • We are already, in the dawn of Post-Humanism. Its just unfortunate that there are so many ideologues/megalomanic/impy scientists who believe that they will become our gods-and force their corrupt mandates through Big Pharma and Insane Eugenicists upon innocent guinea pig humans-ultimately it will be the end of humans-

  • There's a fine difference between Transhumanism and Eugenics, the former being human enhancements while the latter controlled breeding and doing away with the weak and disabled, rather than giving them the medical aid they need.

If there were to be any people who are controlling us, it would be the religious fundamentalists. And you can rest assured that the quick and easy way for human race to go extinct, is to reject change and progress altogether and not doing anything about it.

  • you are referring to "negative" eugenics. there is also "positive" eugenics, which is what transhumanism is the modern incarnation of.

  • Mr. Franz, eugenics is a study and practice selective breeding. While Transhumanism is about human enhancements, either genetic or cybernetic.

In fact, we already have enhancements in medical sciences such as gene therapy to cure those who have childhood or terminal illnesses which are considered as incurable in the past, without the need for abortion or euthanasia, which are true practices of eugenics.

  • @AlexanderGoldstein

  • Insightful and Intriguing

  • This video is amazingly insightful. Not.

  • If over population is a problem on Earth, Why not simply move out into space?

Surely if we had the ability to extend life expectancy, and transhuman level technologies were common.. Space travel would be FAR easier than it is now?

And at the same time, life extension is sort of NECESSARY, for long distance space travel. Space is simply too vast and far, to travel any distance in a single lifetime, as we currently know it.

Population control is simply not necessary. Space is the better option.

  • even if it is a problem or it becomes a problem,it will sort itself out.

but your right the closest panet close in likeness to earth is like 180000 years away...what about cyrogenics, staying awake tfor 180000 years seems like a lot to travel to a planet.

  • @NikoKun

Absolutely! I couldn't agree with you more. Whenever a problem presents its self - we humans produce a tool to counteract that problem. That is our nature, that is why we don't take many generations to adapt. The human legacy is our capacity to create whatever it is we can imagine. And when we employ technology to manifest these ideas, we eclipse the distance between now and the arrival of the technological singularity.

  • @NikoKun because science has turned into a cult where if you dont believe certain doctrines or beliefs or dont conform to the status quo you are not given any funding, not listened to and completly censored so its hard for people to go into building spacecrafts that utilizes zeropoint energy so inter solar or galactical travel would be possible. That and if they do come to some new technology (which i assure they have) they censor it form the public eye so we are always blind. knwoledge is power

  • @NikoKun

Yes, but what happens when all the nearby planets are full too... And "simply moving into space" is still a little ways off into the future, and it will seem even further away when the world is torn by the resource conflicts of 10 bn starving ppl.

  • @AspiringPotato, then we better get our act together and figure out why. There isn't an alternative. And life extension, technological advance, and the human population are only going to keep going faster and faster. Impossible to stop.

I'd rather humans be forced to deal with the problems of over population as they occur, than be forced into limiting birth rates and not allowing people to live as long as the technology of the time can sustain them.

  • @NikoKun

There could be a society of fewer, longer lived people. Technology could be used to regulate birth rates. I'm sure that nanotech will be able to create an "on/off switch" for human fertility. Of course, that's exactly the kind of solution that would tick off ppl like the poster of this vid.

  • @NikoKun I agree, however, the ability to do that may be a long way away, and, overpopulation tends to be more of a local problem than a global problem.

Overpopulation isn't just "too many people", it's caused by inadequate infrastructure and resources.

Without enough potable water, disease runs rampant, and populations experience violent oscillations (lots of people needlessly dying)

And out of ignorance and fear, people have as many kids as possible.

    This needs to be helped.

  • you say "we" will bring our own undoing, "we" this, "we" that, if "we" referes to the general population, then "we" don't make those decisions. The technological advancements are in the hands of the governents, in the hands of a very few corrupt men, "they" will bring about our undoing because "they" know that "they" have dumbed down society enough to get away with it.

  • We have a big job to do. please join in our effort to SAVE THE HUMANS.

you will never know what you were capable of doing if you never tried...

  • Some good points here. Transhumanism is the way forward, but these problems need to be addressed.

  • Technophobe, do you have a cell phone??

  • having many children is selfish!

  • why do this people Asians or mexicans have to have so many children! I prefer my parents not to die!

  • I prefer my parents to live than some let say catholic have his 5th child!

Is it so hard to understand????

  • Transhumanism, and most importantly a digital reality in which we all exist, is the goal in which everyone should be striving.

This is a good vid, but the real problem that is facing Transhumanism is indeed one inside of ourselves, which in turn is caused by the Monetary system that we live in and the culture we are surrounded by.

I invite all of you to research the Venus Project, the first step to Humanities true destiny.

  • I other words, since we cant control who gets to live, we shouldnt try to live longer, we should embrace nature's death so nobody's blamed for it?

Why should we advance medicine when all it'll do is prolong life? Isn't that unfair to those who cant afford medical care?

Dont pretend like you care about every human being because YOU DO NOT, you sleep at night ignoring that Africans are being raped, starved and slaughtered, now you want us to give a shit about future inequality? GIVE ME A BREAK!

  • We're on the verge. To deny people something and let others have it is facism. Using technology for the control of population is an ongoing process and if the HW is once within us the END of GAME is reached. So we need to evolve now and hope that the Earth sheds off the real problems like the few who think they are close to 'Alien gods'. Point being, you want Gattaca or Eden? THERE IS ENOUGH FOR US ALL! if we use all the black-ops technology for the benefit of humandkind. Re-GREEN the Sahara etc

  • Good question... but not the collective of this planet, that wont work for much longer

  • What's wrong with the fact that if your not worth dirt you don't get dirt, you don't produce anything your right to existence is nulled. Transhumanism is just a simple way to allow only those who can pull their weight on this planet to start co-evolving with technology at the brink of singularity. Those who cannot, will not.

  • WHO gets to set the value of dirt?

  • WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION? gets to value dirt? Golly gee, this conspiracy is getting traction... A real wolly hoop!

  • Ok so what about virtual reality? And extending human life and intelligence with biological substances. Some things are good and some bad

  • We are being controlled manipulated already, they are now trying to cope with the fact that people are now realising this.

  • NOTHING lasts forever. Good vid.

  • Why forever is mentioned?

  • nice , beautifull video aaron franz! iloved that you used the beach footage! it shows the contrast from natural man to artificial man..

  • Much to be explored indeed.

  • I love this tihs... the Clam-Plate Orgy, by Wilson Bryan Key or...

Different Strokes, by John Warren Wells...

two sides of the coin equally relevant.
