@XxSierraLeonexX When they say "it's the t-rex of the bug world" they are referring it to be the very best or "top dog".
There wasn't anything that could top a rex except a larger rex. With it being so advance, physically powerful and highly muscular with powerful jaws(as well as high intelligence, but that isn't something shared with a mantis) made it the undisputed king(this is basically a giant mantis rank in the "bug world" of their environment)
If the Praying Mantis was any bigger it would be more like a armored machine than an insect.
They would be the Star Wars IG-88's of the world, so thankfully they are exactly the right size. I think they had been the size of a very large Rodentia they would have probably wiped-out entire species, Genus.
As an insect lover this video makes me rage SOOOOO hard.
They are trying to dramatize nature to make it cool. First they put in retarded Jurassic Park sound effects, and then they start describing mantises as "T-rexes of the insect world" ROFLMAO!
These video's aren't really professional. They're more like MANTISES ARE FUCKING AWESOME DINOSAURS THAT WILL RAPE YOUR HOUSE AND BURN YOUR WIFES
In warmer months you will probably come across a Praying Mantis in pretty much any open field, especially Southern Canada.
We had a huge field out back when I was a teenager, and everytime I would catch one of those little alien looking creatures I would exame it.
Only, looking closely at their heads from every angle, I could never figure out if those little black dots starring back at me were actually the centering points in which a Mantis directed it's main focus. Guess not.
@afterapplepicking You are 100% right. I keep praying mantises and her description of them is retarded. "THEY ARE THE TOP RAINFOREST PREDATORS" Lmao? "THEY ARE ON DUTY ALL THE TIME" and the the retarded commentator proceerds with "They are the T-rexes of the insect world"
T-rexes of the insect world? ROFLMFAO. It's obvious that this woman didn't really study mantises.
I used to live in Las Vegas, NV. And in the city (Not the desert of coarse) Where tons of these beautiful Mantis's of green and pink colors. I had always wanted to see one in action. They are very kind to humans they may crawl up your leg and give u a fright but I have spent a lot of time holding and looking at the creature. It is quite beautiful especially the pink ones.
@Shadowblood66 um....seriously i think you're reading way too much into this. This show was meant for entertainment as well as a little education on the side. The sound affects were there to add humor to it. I like it this way and i enjoy the study of insects so this show is absolutely wonderful to me. No need to bash the show just because you don't like it
Look that's alien right there. He doesn't pops out of your belly, but the female actually eats the the male's head while having sex. She needs his brains to restore her strenght :)
Mantids are ambush predators.....they usually lose to similarly sized bugs and small predators because they simply aren't built for a prolonged fight.......if they can't get the first strike to work, the opponent can seriously injure or kill it. They are fragile.
i used to "have" a praying mantis. Me and my brother found it on our parking lot, one spring day. It was REALLY tired. I brought it to school one day in a bug catcher cage.(I brought it to school because i had to bring something created by God for my school assignment. I went to private school then.) MY classmates were sorta grossed out, but i wasn't really because i really had a passion for bugs.(im a girl) Then i let it go on a tree in aftercare outside. I still remember it.
you know that you will be starved for intellectual stimuli when the first five seconds demonstrates the narrator calling the learning subject a stealthy ninja
@jasonistehgreatest Actually, we could look at what dinosaurs related to the most today which are crocodiles and birds and they make a "roar." Also when taking the body structure of an animal, you could compare it to living animals today. You could take that and approximate what a dinosaur sounds like too by the shape of the skull, neck, and chest.
It's actually a pretty witty comment, since bugs wouldn't sound like that to begin with.
The T-Rex? Is a Mantis a big, lumbering insect that often scares their insects away from their kills, no. They just said it was a "Stealthy Assassin" T-Rex was Seven tons, what 7 ton monster would be a "Stealthy Assassin"?
seriously enough with the complaints. EVERY FUCKING video has the top comment of "sound effects are gay" or "why is there sound effects of dinosaurs". Then some moron has to post how much they hate the sound effects even though the top comments already establish this. The point is established. We get it people ENOUGH already. Christs sakes!!!!
i have 8 giant asian mantis juveniles at home.i feed them spiders grasshoppers crickets moths flies beetles. whatever i can catch i will feed them. .adult females are vorarcious. .once i feed a 5 inch female which had molted 2 days ago and had not eaten four 2 inch grasshoppers and 4 one inch moths within 4 hours. after that it ignored prey even when they walk right past it. the next day it began eating again after passing pellet like shit. adult males eat much less.
