Thanks for posting this Paul McCartney classic. The sheet music for the original piano part on "Maybe I'm Amazed" can be found at manymidi.com/sheetmusic.htm - a note-for-note transcription.
I have never heard or seen this version before. It is awesome. Does anyone have a copy of the version he filmed for the Ed Sullivan Show back in 1970? I remember seeing that version on TV back in 1970. I used to own all of his albums on vinyl right up to the London Town album.
OMG!!!!! I love this song so much!!!! I've loved this song since the early 80s, now its 2011!!!!! I listen to it almost everyday!!!! I've got it in concert, original, and different artists singing it. It's one of the best of the best!!!!! Can't say enough!!!!!!!! RIP Linda....
OMG!!!!! I love this song so much!!!! I've loved this song since the early 80s, now its 2011!!!!! I listen to it almost everyday!!!! I've got it in concert, original, and different artists singing it. It's one on the best of the best!!!!! Can't say enough!!!!!!!! RIP Linda....
In my opinion ths is McCartney's best solo effort, The song just rocks and the piano brings it home. Love it, and it is about Linda who was a good gal in spite of the negative press. She loved Paul, and he her.
I'm glad you're home from the hospital, Hon. We missed you and love you. I'm borrowing this tune from him. I don't think he'll mind . . . too much, huh?
Wow. Stll love this song and the Paul and Linda love story. Also, I'm amazed by the way this song was recorded with Paul, playing piano and his band playing their instruments while he was laying down the vocals. Part of the beauty of this song is the way the instruments emote along with his voice. Sad to say that this type of approach to recording, is rarely used these days.
@babygirltessa Hey dont you notice that He sounds better in this version than any other one? And especially when he does the falsetto.. sounds ALOT better here
why did linda have to die? paul was obviously very in love with her and he had enough tragedies in his life. from his mom to john and george to linda and others.
Seventh Grade. At a friend's house. Heard it for the first time. Oh, my goodness. I think to self: I do not want Paul McCartney to be my father, afterall.
I love this song... The words are so powerful, explaining the way we all feel wen we just realize that we are in love!!!! It's scary and beautiful at the same time!
I'm thinking this was recorded in Nashville, in the summer of '74, where Paul and Wings, were vacationing, rehearsing, and recording. I meet Jeff Britton, the drummer (on "Junor's Farm), and he was'nt in the band much longer, after Nashville. Paul, Linda, and Denny were as friendly as could be. As a college student, who was "in the right place, at the right time", interacting with Paul and Linda outside the studio several times, that's a memory I will cherish forever.
@lcmoorejr It's such a great song. A great piece of music. I wonder why it wasn't released as a single until years later? Maybe I'm wrong, Johns Imagine wasn't released as a single either. What I admire about Paul was he never seemed bitter after the break up. He moved on to the next phase of his life. I was 16 in the summer of 74' and was lucky enough to see him at the Boston Garden in 1976. He's still doing it today. Amazing.
Holy crap, that scream at 4:13 is the peak of the song. That's right up there with a Cobain scream! This man is one of the greatest musical geniuses of our time. I feel honored to get to watch him perform.
this is the wings, not the beatles and had nothing to do with the beatles other than the fact the paul was the front man in both. and if you are a big fan of the beatles try across the universe.
I was born in 68 and grew up listening to the Beatles and Paul McCratney and Wings. I've seen Paul in concert twice and and have never seen anyone in concert that moved me so much. It is so cool to see this video. I'm glad that the younger generation enjoys this music.
this song is one of the best .. i was born in 91 so i wasnt alive when they were really doing this . but i grew up listening to them and watching their movies .. and the music today is crap compared to this .. no one can ever be bigger than the beatles . .. you cant top them .. i have alot of there records .. *sigh* what i would give to see them perform together :'(
I would do the same as you said, born in 91' too...wish i'd born much earlier...I wanna be there when this songs were the talk of town...I wanna be Macca's son...and yes today's music is too artificial...
I agree. I was born in 87 and I just wish I could of been alive to see The Beatles perform. There are Beatles cover bands that are pretty good. My favorite is RAIN: The Beatles Experience. It was amazing. I felt like I was watching the real thing. Check them out if they're ever around your area.
I agree, the guy who does Paul for Rain is unbelievable. Not quite as good a range but I don't think anyone can come close. Seeing Rain in Toronto was one of the best nights of my life, as an 87 baby myself.
