He was told that two black men broke a door in, and showed up to find a belligerent black man in the house. The fact that he asked questions and demanded idea was not profiling! That was his job! Supposedly in US avg income of East Asians are higher than avg income of White Ppl, also East Asian Countries are doing well. Im a police officer ... i am new to the force but i can tell you one thing i will never arrest a black person even if he has commited murder .... Its horrible but you cant arrest a black man anymore. We have all spoken about this in our department. Refusing to prove his identify as requested was the best way to end at the police station.

To me it comes down to two questions. 1)Was Professor Gates the owner or a rentor? 2)Was he cooperative in responding to the officers requests for identification? For if he was a rentor, unknown to his neighbors and was jimmying the door to get in, a neighbor would be doing his or her civic duty in summoning the police. The policeman could very well not know who Dr. Gates was. Memo to all challenged by police, just cooperate. All cops want to do is resolve these things and get home safely.

i wish MY neighbors would report suspicious activity at my house.
