I just finished season 2 and I'm so sad that I will never see these characters again. The show is beautifully crafted and even though I'm agnostic, it has been spiritually cathartic for me.
I have come to judge thee and thine aboMINATION!!!!! AND YOU WILL KNOW THAT I AM THE LORDS LEFT HAND!!!!! AND I HAVE COME TO REAP WHAT THINE ENEMY HAS SOWN...I SHALL NOT SPARE THEE!!!! NOR SHALL I HAVE PITY ON THEE!!!!! AND WHEN THINE ABOMINATION...IS IN MY MIDST....BEHOLD....thy holy evil has come. Badass.
I will never forgive anyone who didn't support this show. I will never forgive HBO for cancelling it. It was the greatest piece of art I have ever seen, heard, and felt. HBO fucking sucks...imo.
I've never been more invested in a television show, save The Wire, though this show works on an entirely different wavelength. Amidst the esoteric nature of the show, the brilliance and complexity of the story, there is a huge heart beneath all of that to be found in this show. I have never been left speechless so many times by a work of art as I was with this show.
Someone at least needs to put the rest of the series into graphic novel or something. There was definitely a plan in place for a lot more story development. The ending was so rushed and forced...so much left to explain and tell.
@MacavityF too bad HBO being the greedy cocksuckers they are will NEVER allow anyone to have the IP now. So sad we'll never really know what would have happened.
Just the most amazing show. No other shows quite like it. Absolute travesty this was cancelled and probably replaced with something like 'The Simple Life' or such.
This was an excellent show that stayed true to its own mythology throughout. It never jumped the shark or pulled a Sopranos...it went out on an extremely high note...everything about this show was so detailed and intertwined. It had a beginning a middle and an end, but was truly weird and creepy. What Twin Peaks should have been.
yeah, duh, it's the title of the video. i asked around on imdb and got an answer there too. i was able to download the season 2 soundtrack off of jeff beal's website. awesome.
This was an incredible show. This scene is so amazing. This show was terrifying and inspiring. It was beautiful and dark. The finale leaves us all hanging. HBO, I command thee to bring back Carnivale!!!
This was by far one of the best shows to ever exist. It was also the one and only show I never missed - nobody could talk to me the one night of the week that Carnivale was on. I don't think they gave it enough of a chance...same as Rome. They canceled it before seeing where it would go, and I do believe that (like with Rome), they regretted it afterwards.
So the stock holders went for quick easy money in favour of giving Knauf a real chance to become 'large enough to support it'. They apparently judged Knaufs 'product' by 'Seinfeld' standards. Not a great incentive for creative and imaginative fiction writers. Fortunately, now Knauf could quit while he was way ahead and avoid the show to become stale and repetitive.
What bloated salaries? It wasn't the salaries, it was the production costs. HBO didn't feel it could sustain the series with its relatively poor ratings (despite the honors bestowed upon it).
Oh, ok, I understand what you're saying now. But as Daniel Knauf stated, "(HBO has) a fiduciary responsibility toward their stock-holders; the show was hugely expensive; the reviews were mixed; the audience was not large enough to support it."
Mr. Knauf posts to the Yahoo! group occassionally.
I know. I was really hoping that this wonderful series would get picked up by another station, maybe SciFi or TNT, but all HBO does is keep teasing us with "maybe a TV movie" or "maybe a mini series" and we get nothing. *sighs* *shakes fists*

This was one of the most slept on shows. It may come back on because the last episode was left open ended.

That was intense. Clancy Brown is a very good actor, very intense, made me uncomfortable- but it was good.

I love The Soprano's, but let's face it. Their bloated salaries are what caused Carnivale to get shitcanned.

You know what else sucks? HBO won't release the rights so we can get the story continued in comic or novel form either.
Bastards.

Aye, but that's the problem they won't - but they won't let anyone else do it either.
