@2m4utube That's not actually true. They made some new "Kesha" cartoons (which were pretty bad, in my opinion...) and they nearly completed a "Prostokvashino" animated feature which was going to be released in theatres, but they didn't get the very last bit of money needed to finish it.

The main heirs to THIS part of Soyuzmultfilm's tradition are probably the Peterburg studio and Pilot. P.S. check out their new film "проделки лиса", it's really great...

Ah, Russian cartoons... I remember I used to watch them here in Sweden in the mid 80's, (well here in Northern Europe back then, we didn't watch any American cartoons or Japanese stuff, just pure European animation, mostly from Eastern Europe). The artwork is quite classy, also the cats are cute in here, not too cartoonish but not too real.
