  • Hi suremate, can you reupload this interview?

Because due to youtube old format conversion, now the audio it's a little out of synch,

  • @volodya2 It plays in sync for me.

  • @suremate

For me is not in synch, its just a little, but it hurting.

Some year ago i have downloaded this video and if i watch it its perfectly synchronized, not like this.

    It's a shame :(

  • orso bianco

  • 4:15 It is not "Palomma 'e notte" , but "Chiove" (Bovio - Nardella).

  • @dido93 are you sure? someone else said it was Palomma 'e notte which is why I wrote it. I'm unfamiliar with both songs.

  • @suremate I'm from Naples (as Fiorentino was...) and I know very well both songs...;-)

    Search on YouTube:

    1) Palomma 'e notte Sergio Bruni; 2) Chiove Claudio Villa.

    Ciao

  • @dido93 Ok I'll change it. Would you also happen to know the first piece he plays?

  • @suremate Sorry, I don't know what music is it....

  • Comment removed

  • Please someone name the pieces he plays, this is epic

  • @Toxxic88 I'll try to do it this weekend, there are probably still a couple I don't know.

  • What's the first melody? Anyone can tell? So beautiful!

  • @xujia1001 Mendelssohn concerto for violin in e minor

  • Most lovable person.

  • somewhere over the rainbow....also have some elements...

  • 2:12 what a wonderfull world?!

  • what the hell he plays at 2.12? it sounds like a sort of jazz...

  • It is the Kern/Gerhswin song "long ago and far away" from the movie Cover Girl (starring Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly), he follows it with "someday my prince will come" from Snow White.

  • Thanks XD do you also know whic part of Tchaikovskij's concert for violin he plays at 8.46?

  • It is one of the main themes from the first movement. He then immediately plays a theme from the Brahms violin concerto.

  • this video made my day ;)

  • incredible.xx

  • One of the BEST pianist of all time, and a musical genius

  • lol amazing. if i didn't know that was the mendelsohn violin concerto (2.00)i would really believe it was a piano piece the way he plays it.

  • sergio fiorentino è stato un'inarrivabile pianista e un uomo speciale.sono orgogliosa di averlo conosciuto al concorso di MORCONE e avere anche alcune foto con lui che mi premia.lo ricorderò sempre. ANNARITA santagada

  • this is pure genius! :P

  • what an amazing unassuming genius with a God given talent. so sad that he's no longer with us to enthrall us with his effortless wonderful playing.

  • sergio fiorentino fu uno dei più grandi pianisti di tutti i tempi, ma purtroppo la sua carriera venne stroncata dall'imbecillità di alcuni critici italiani...

  • can someone tell me what is the name of the concerto for violin no. 1 by mendelssohn but in transcription for piano? who did this transcription is amazing!

  • Fiorentino improvised the transcription himself.

  • And that's the amazing thing! He just put it together on the spot. What incredible control of the instrument that demands!

  • I was listening to Maestro Fiorentino one night in a concert at the Santa Chiara Monastery in Naples, abouth thirteen years ago?Anyway he was playing the Heroic Polonaise - amazingly I do remember - and at about one third from the start the light went off in a black out which put the room in complete pitch dark. Well, Fiorentino played untill the end, without any imperfection whatsoever. Obviously the crowd was in complete owe and the room was falling down from the ovation afterwards.

  • thank you for sharing this anecdote with us, and for identifying the song!

  • He's my hero.

  • MASTERCLASSES,

I believe I know who the silly, wildly conceited kid is

you are referring to. Has he posted Chopin and Scriabin preludes? Does he post ridiculous statements about others playing? I believe we are talking about the same clueless person. MASTERCLASSES is my favorite you tube site. John Bell Young, now that is a genius! Thanks!

  • This guy is great. Can't believe I've never heard of him before. Anyone know where I can get the sheet music to the Mendelssohn Violin concerto he played (second piece)?

  • it's improvised, I don't think he ever wrote it out, unlike the "la chasse" which you can get from the fiorentino yahoo group.

  • Absolutely incredible! Shame he never wrote it out though.

  • Have Checked her out.Very Nice. And since your reply to my comment brought me back to this page,i saw your one below:& i'm with Skrimm.Who are you referring to MASTERCLASSES?P.S.Enjoy your vids very much.Have even subscribed to them.

  • who are you refuring to Masterclass

  • What's he playing after someday my prince will coming? Nice tune.

  • I'm not sure. I don't know what he plays at the start either. Hopefully someone else can answer this!

  • It is a Neapolitan classical song called "Palomma 'e notte" (night butterfly)

  • One of the great pianists!

  • This guy rules.

    Love the akward silences.

  • I love him. I'm impressed!!!

  • Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli told "Fiorentino is the only other pianist except me".

It's very hard to find a classical pianist that execute a lot of the most difficult concerts and play and harmonize correctly and with a good taste some famous standards and neapolitan songs... Try to search "Sergio Fiorentino" on Google!

  • A classical Pianist who can play the standards(wether he's improvising or not)I heard Long ago & Far Away & Someday my Prince Will come not sure of the third one was.
