rs200 was not based on an escort for shit ... it i losely base on a sierra p100 cab with four inch's cut from the lower section the engine was never pinto ... bdgt was half the engine og the lotus cosworth f1 dar from back in the day with a turbo the heads are closer to lotus twin cam not yb cosworth almost but not the same ... and the metro 6r4 is the same engine as a jaguar xj220 both bad boy's
I can live without the 600hp (most people would agree) but a 300hp ESCORT RS200 (its full name), for us mere/sane mortals, would make my day. With the new EcoBoost engines it would be a snap.
@JimmyJunkster Actually there was an Escort RS200, but that was not this car. My error. The Escort RS200 was a Euro-spec Escort, the Mk1 and mk2 are common examples, with a roughly 2.0L engine for Rally. The Escort "RS200" would exist in some form going into the early 1990s when it was finally replaced by the Focus. The most notable "RS200" is the Escort Cosworth RS. That was the car I was thinking of.
Escort or any Ford was RS200 except RS200 itself. Escort mk1 RS2000 came -73, mk2 for MY -76. Next one was mk5 -91-92. There was 4x4 version of it too, -94-96, but don`t confuse it with Escort RS Cosworth which is totally diffirent car, it is, in fact, 90% Sierra 4x4 Cosworth in Escort clothing. It don`t have anything to do with RS2000, or RS200.
RS200 engine is in 1,8 litre BDT (Cosw./JQF), and Evo have 2,1 BDT-E (Brian Hart).
@DocWolph RS2000 were not the rally cars, they were soft road cars for the public. The top performing cars were the Lotus Twin Cam (Mk.I) with (obviously) Lotus Twin cam engine, then RS1600 (Mk.II) and RS1800 (MK.II) with Cosworth modified engines.
6r4 is much better, its all down to the drivers. thats a special stage init? there crap. u shud enter ya rs200 in the promenade stages coz the leading car ther is only a darrian d9 yad well beat it. but there are a few 6r4s as well :(

@DocWolph - The RS200 was a purpose built Gp B rally car and it was never called Escort. From Wikipedia:
....
Despite some rumours to the contrary, the RS200 was not based on the European version of the Escort, as were both its predecessor and successor.

@quadgod1 Yes, I was there and remember you, it was only a 2.8 engined car on a plenum too, you drove well even with that silly hair do!!!!!!!
Imagine if you had a proper 3 litre on multi butterfly injection as per works cars, you would not even have seen the RS200 before you finished.
I am not bias either, I have both cars.
