Very interesting.. I'd thought all be treated the same.. I think it used to be 25 missions in the 8th AirForce as well, then they upped it to 30 or 35, as the danger of the Luftwaffe became less and less.. They still had to put up with the flak, though.. :P
My father was in the 13th AF 42nd Bombardment Group (M) 70th Bomber Squadron He was overseas from late 1941 to Spring 1944.

My Dad was a radioman on B-24s....he flew in WW2 and Korea...I did my part flew in Helicopters in Vietnam.
My Dad almost died of malaria and came home early.
