@wrestlingjoey Raven did a drop toe hold to him onto a steel chair. Then I believe he convinced him that he was a freak because of his injury and that he fit in with the Flock.
N.W.O. had its route but the Flock was different. Great talent together. and rather than Hogan. one of the best Raven leading the way. with Saturn too bad Stevie left. together those three were the effect ECW had on WWF and it had the same for WWF's supposed invasion. Raven and Stevie add Saturn. that's it the picture is complete. Hogan, Nash n Hall vs Saturn, Stevie n Raven
If Raven wasn't a jew and believed in God...there is no doubt in my mind that he would've been World Champion in WCW or the WWF...he without a doubt should've been World Champion in WCW
You know ever since I first saw this 2 weeks ago this song and this video has been stuck in my head. This is a pretty good representation not only of the flock, but also of what a lot of people were feeling back in the 90's. This is their music, this is their mood, and this violence is their outlet.
Do you remember what John Cena was like when he first debuted? He had the FU, a mocking name patterned after Brock Lesner's F5. He was "The master of Thugonomics" and while that really wasn't my thing, I at least respected that it would have an appeal and wasn't gay. Steve Austin and The Rock were both PG the last time they appeared on WWE TV, and both lacked their "attitude" edge. It's really not about the on screen talent, it's the Wisteria Lane mothers like Stephanie McMahon-Levesque to blame
Go look them up on Wikipedia, every person that has a say in the creative direction of the WWE is mother with children under the age of 10. The writers take direction from them, and the writers aren't given much to work with, having to be both PG and not able to go back to cartoon characters. Because of this only a few people with really large personalities and charisma are capable of getting over, and they do it on their own merit, not the writers.
The wrestling itself never really changes too much. The only way they get better and less predictable is if there is good story-telling involved and that requires more than two guys getting together 5 minutes before the match and talking out a skeleton strategy for the match. it really is NOT the onscreen talent that's so bad, it's the writing, and it's the upper management. WWE is creatively run by a bunch of over protective mothers, literally, and that's why it's so bad.
@RicoLen1 You know is really funny, Raven could be a WWE writer but the bunch of B***HING writers push him away. Even in PG i think he'd do great storylines.
Yeah but go back to the 1985-1995 era and look at the WWF. That was era PG then too, the difference is that then there were characters. Sgt. Slaughter, Big Boss Man, The Mountie, Nails. They were all cartoon-ish characters, and they really sold them as such. Now it's just a bunch of guys in t-shirts and black panties with no personalities. The wrestling matches are just as good, because they've always been the same, it's the story-telling that's gotten godawful, and everyone looks gay.
So I just looked up Raven's Flock on Wikipedia and as it turns out Raven formed "The Gathering" in TNA back in 2002-2003, and one of his members was CM Punk.
So that's it then. No question that CM Punk's Straight Edge Society is a continuation of Raven's Nest (The first incarnation of the flock from ECW).
This is what the Straight Edge Society is trying to do now, only they suck.
Raven's Flock was better than the nWo in my opinion. Grunge rock meets Fight Club, these guys were awesome. I swear after seeing Fight Club I kept expecting these guys to start saying they were the all-singing all-dancing crap of the world before they singled out one of their own members and beat the crap of him.
@RicoLen1 yes, true... and straight edge could be good, but it isnt because wwe is for kids nowadays..... that rey punk match at wm26 was so predictable... a lunatic would beat superhero. cmon guys, that would make kids in the first row cry
I never watched WCW back in its height of 1996-1998, but the Raven flock faction was a great contrast to the nWo. Obviously, because of the upper bookers (Hogan, Flair, Bischoff, Nash, Dusty, Sullivan etc) they believed the smaller guys could only be mid-card at best. With guys like Kidman and Saturn, they had gifted wrestlers, and Sickboy and Van Hammer gave them the bigger guys. If only they had a bigger midcard guy (The Giant perhaps?)who could have helped Raven get the World Title??
How did WCW not give Raven a world title run? The Flock was my favorite form of Raven and his fallowers. The group had everything from Sickboy and Kidman's high flying, to the power of Reese and Hammer.
I think most of the ppl did when they left the flock I mean saturn became a radical then in love with a mop kidman career stayed stagnant and van hammer and reese they stopped being on the radar
Id like to see Raven start a little group in TNA. WCW knew how to use him and so did TNA. I was glad when he won the World Title in TNA because after WWE I never though he would hold a World Title again. Raven could be the leader of Stevie,Daffney,Kiyoshi,Roxxi and a couple others. It would be brilliant.
not all wrestlers ...only wrestlers who are in pain and feels useless. and not all ppl can join sometimes raven has to invite u in...ppl who raven thinks he can relate to , were invited in and joined..and couldnt leave because raven had a mind control over them..saturn broke out of it and told the other members to leave raven's abuse...and so on...
if want to see how it started type in ' RavenFlockClassics '
Yeah, gotta agree that the Nest was better. With Cactus Jack, an active Stevie Richards and Blue Meanie, Beulah and all those damn Dudley's....it was more like a disfunctional family than a cult. It was Raven building the home his charicter claimed never to of had. The Flock, though the best thing on WCW that wasn't involved with anything nWo related, was too watered down. They could of done more with them than have them just be voiceless seat fillers at time. The Nest had soul.
LMAO! Uh no... YOU are wrong! Raven had SEVERAL themes in WCW, including "What about Raven", "Short but Thick" and "Raven's Theme" which was the instrumental version of "Come as You are". If you're going to say something try knowing what the hell you're talking about. Raven DID have music in WCW!
The Nest was better than the Flock? I don't think so. The members of The Flock were more "Raven" oriented than the members of The Nest. That and they actually dressed like Raven did. Do you remember the Pitbulls or Richards dressing like Raven? I don't.
So it is written, so it shall come to pass. Quoth the Raven, NEVERMORE!"
