  • My boy Gary best ever!!!!!

  • We love ya player. Your a funny guy.

  • Lucky enough to meet him, what a man, top golfer,I think the best ever, why, because he won 9 majors none in his own country,no golfer has even come close, great man!!

  • the best golf tip i ever got. i cant explain how much better i hit fairways and distance. thanks Gary

  • what a sense of humor

  • I was on the driving range champions retreat in Augusta GA during the Masters 2 years ago and looked over only to see him beside me smashing the golf ball. he was kind enough to talk to me for a bit and take a picture. Really is a nice guy.

  • @scottyray12 that's awesome

  • of course they cant play as well.. that's why they call them weekend golfers; you old far!

  • Draw...close face a little....at start of downswing try to keep your back facing target a long as you can...you'll get a nice right to left action.

  • @Chipinjack you need an open face to hit a draw-and a more in to out path. If the clubface is closed the ball will start left-thats a hook. Or a slice if it comes back. Its impossible to hit a draw with a closed clubface

  • @cockywatchman1976 The only thing i change when I want to hit a draw is slightly close the club face so I am going to have to disagree. If I want a fade I open it slightly.

  • @MrDaryboy It's not a case of agreeing or not, you are wrong-it's just a fact. We know now as a scientific fact that the ball starts 80-85% on the clubface-if the clubface is closed and thats all you change, as you say, the ball will start left of target. A draw starts right of target. All you can hit with your technique is a pull, straight pull or with a hook/draw left of target (and similar with your fade technique-wont work). If it works for you , then you DONT do what you think. Thats facts

  • @cockywatchman1976 Well then I have one hell of a unique swing because I do not change a thing. When I want to hit a draw I close it a little. Period. And I might add that I can shape shots very well. I am not clueless as to what I am doing. And what a surprise, if I close it a lot it hooks. If I open it a lot it slices. Same set up same swing

  • @MrDaryboy No-you just don't do what you say/or it doesn't work. If you aim as normal, swing as normal, and close the face a little, the ball will start left and hook further left...that's just a scientific FACT. Same with your fade technique-it will start right and slice further right. The ball starts on the clubface angle. Spin is produced by the difference between face angle and path. So to hit a draw, aim right and swing out a little further right-ball starts right and draws back.No need

  • @MrDaryboy contd to manipulate the clubface or hands-this is bad technique, that is based on not understanding the D Plane or not knowing about it. Your technique cannot work unless you do it wrong!!! ie, if it produces the desired result you MUST HAVE altered the clubface angle.

  • @MrDaryboy If you google the ball flight laws, you'll see how what you are saying is a scientific impossibility. It comes down to feel and real-a lot of the time we (and that's even pros) feel we are doing something, but we aren't actually doing it. Understanding the ball flight laws and mechanics better can only be a good thing-it's amazing how many pros still don't know the updated ball flight laws and believe the ball starts on club path, it doesn't!

  • @Chipinjack why not just do it the easy way?

  • @XlburrowsX A little respect is due there. This guy is a legend of the game, and a real gent to boot. Do not diss Gary Player!

  • hes 76 years old.

  • He said he usually puts his mother in law right there hahahahah

  • Good old Gary.

  • if it was so STRAIGHT then he failed at the draw which was the whole point of the video....no?

  • @chrismcleod1010

Learn to pay attention, my friend. Watch the video again and see why hitting it straight is a draw shot when the wind is blowing from left to right.

  • @chrismcleod1010 I think by hitting it straight with a right to left wind he hit a draw. The mechanic he mentioned is how to apply a draw.

  • Whats to stop me from push slicing if i take the club back a little to the inside. For some reason cocking my wrists creates draws or hooks

  • great video. this has changed my game. so simple. im am telling EVERYONE to watch this video. we are all weekend golfers, everyone can benifit from this video

  • Gary still has an amazing swing! :)

  • Great video! Thanks for the tip Garry. Dyn Jalani

  • patent that baby!

  • Gary is funny as hell!

  • nice reel sweet shot

  • All those older players such legends as Tom Watson, Gary Player, Nicklaus etc make it look and sound so fucking easy. Many times it's just about swing TOUGHTS and FEEL and not exact technique.. he's tha pimp as @goldtogreysmoke said :D

  • patent on that baby

  • Thumbs up gary!

  • Who ever edited this should be fired!

  • That's "The Black Knight" baby!

    A legend

  • my mad must not be be the average golfer then

  • haha he's the man

  • when my swing starts stinking up the course, i go to my "Couples Trevino" move, where i take it outside, drop it in, and i'm back on track

  • gary is such a beauty

  • Simply smooth.

    Loved it.

  • what a great character !!!

  • when i take it on the inside i always slice it when i come down, so when i take it on the outside i have a wider swing and the ball flys straight?

    maybe thats just me ...

  • @chilibeanking I think u are standing a bit too close to the ball so yr blade is still slightly open at impact. Try backing off a couple of inches until you find yr zone. Hope this helps.

  • ''that's where i keep my mother in law,''''so straight i've got to lean to see the flag.'' lmfao...i'm gonna have to write those down, they're classic. mr. player, ftw! does anybody in golf have a more fitting last name? i don't think so.

  • @senorchipotle tiger woods?

  • @nalderto... he does hit it in the woods fairly often. but tiger's last name would have to be 'major,' imho, to be more fitting than that of mr. player.

  • lucas glover and he doesnt even wear a glove

  • touche

  • @senorchipotle I liked that quote too! Too funny!

  • @senorchipotle can you explain the flag joke:s ive been trying so hard to understand it, and i bet its something obvious too:P

  • @bigjp14 The joke is that he hit the ball so dead straight at the flag that the ball itself blocked his view of the flag, so he had to lean over to see it.

Of course, he's just speaking figuratively, but that's the joke.

    Gary Player is the MAN.

  • @senorchipotle hahaha. true. it's like Chris Moneymaker as a pokerpro. he won WSOP some years ago..

  • @senorchipotle woods is a pretty fitting last name for his activities...

  • @senorchipotle "i wish i could put a patent on that baby" i love this guy

  • @senorchipotle Paula Creamer

  • this guy is the shit. Pimp.

  • Fair point Grasshopper. I have no majors under my belt but I do have thousands of hours of teaching amateurs of all levels. I've made it my career to help people get better, he's made it his career to play. Two very different professions. Just because you can play doesn't mean you know what everyone else is doing.

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah..listen to this guy...he knows a thing or two....only 4 people have won ALL 4 majors in their careers (Hogan, Nicklaus, Woods, and Player)

  • This is not necessarily a great idea. I've seen more golfers who bring the club inside tend to loop it around and bring it over the top on the downswing. I'd rather see slicers take the clubhead OUTside the line most of the time!

  • dont mean to be an asshole but how many majors have you won?

id be more better off listening to gary player than i would a youtube commenter

  • Well, if you do it wrong of course it won't work. The point is to do it right. I was surprised though, he didn't say anything about foot position or alignment. I love it, keep it simple, I tend to overthink when I'm out there.

  • good video!
